Terrible customer service. Our plan clearly stated that part of my dental service would be covered. Instead of sending the check to the dentist for what part they cover, they claimed they sent it to our address. We never received the check. When my husband called to get the check re-sent, they said they needed to speak to me.When I called, they said they needed to speak to him because he is the plan holder. Majority of calls are outsourced to ***** or some other foreign country unless you ask for a supervisor of which they are zero help as well.Could not even get a simple email sent stating the call reference number and confirmation they were re-sending the check.

I do not recommend Delta Dental of California. They are obstructive and seem to do everything possible to get out of paying a claim. Claims representatives trying to help are baffled by claim denials. I had general anesthesia (a covered benefit) in my dentist office right before removal of two infected teeth. Because the independent anesthesiologist, licensed and registered nationally, brought in by my dentist was only a certified nurse (no dental certification) they would not pay the claim.

My teeth cleaning is covered 100% by my PPO plan with Delta Dental. I used a "preferred provider." I was billed $60. What part of 100% coverage leaves $60? That was not cover that even in the Calculus I took. Some kind of "New Math"?

I needed extensive dental work and because of high dental costs in the ***** I had my work done by Dental Solutions in *************, Mexico. I submitted a claim for $1330 for 2 root canals and crowns which were done on 7/23 and 24 on July 30. The claim from was prepared by my dentist. I never heard back from DD. On 8/13 I had 4 crowns and a deep cleaning for $920.I contacted DD and learned that my July claim had been denied for lack of proof of payment, and that I needed to resubmit ***** on 8/20, I submitted the first claim with all forms and the second claim for $920 with all required forms, and a receipt for payment from Dental Solutions signed by their lead dentist showing I paid $2250.DD sent a check for $975 with no explanation. Upon contacting them on 10/7, I was informed that the $920 claim was denied for lack of proof of payment, and must be resubmitted. I did not receive any notice that this claim was denied.DD denies claims but does not give you notice of the denial. All DD has to do if they need proof of payment is contact the provider, but they don't. They are obviously banking on their insureds' forgetting to follow ***** my case, they obviously are hoping that I will think the $975 is the total reimbursement for all services. I doubt that my experience is unusual. DD is engaging in unfair business practices and is not handling claims in good faith. The California Department of Insurance should investigate them.

I am writing to formally lodge a complaint against Delta Dental for failing to honor their commitment to cancel my policy and for overcharging me for services I neither needed nor received for a period of two years following the cancellation. In 2022, I initiated the cancellation of my Delta Dental policy, following all required procedures as per their guidelines. I confirmed the cancellation with a Delta Dental representative at that time, who assured me that my policy would be terminated, and no further charges would be applied. Unfortunately, Delta Dental continued to charge me monthly premiums for two years after the policy was supposed to have been cancelled.Despite multiple attempts to rectify this situation and repeated communications with their customer service team, I have been met with excuses and vague promises of resolution. No action has been taken to refund the overcharged premiums, and their continued failure to address this issue is unacceptable.I expect Delta Dental, as a reputable company, to honor their commitments and follow through with the proper cancellation of policies and financial obligations. However, their actions have demonstrated a complete lack of accountability and customer care, which has caused me both financial loss and frustration. It is quite obvious why this company is not accredited.

Delta Dental has denied my recent dental claim (Case ID: ***********, due to the plan waiting period requirements. This waiting period is six whole months! In my case, I enrolled in Delta Dental while I was working for a large company in 2022. I left that company on April 15 of 2022. I continued Delta Dental insurance through enrollment in California COBRA. This coverage continued for another 18 months until it expired on October 15, 2023. On September 26, 2023, that is couple of weeks before my COBRA coverage ended in month of October, I contacted Delta Dental by phone and requested that my dental coverage continues after October 15th of 2023. The sale representative advised that I must enroll in a personal plan which has a higher premium. I agreed and the sale representative provided a brief outline of my coverage, including $50 deductible as well as coverage for all preventive care, two times a year. The sales representative never mentioned the 6-month waiting period requirements! I provided my credit card number, and I was charged $139.84 that included $10.00 Enrollment Fee and premium for the next two months. I received a letter from Delta Dental including the Insurance card, indicating Payment received since your previous bill -$139.84. Note that my previous bill to Delta Dental was through COBRA coverage. I was glad that I had all the basis covered and that my dental insurance was/is continuous from the last company to COBRA and then on to my personal premium Delta Dental Plan. Now Delta Dental says that my effective Dental coverage was set to begin December 1, 2023! That goes against their own policy writeups! Is this just/right? Delta Dental must honor its obligation to fully inform its customers of their coverage requirements not only through their sales representatives but also via mailing their contract requirements, giving reviewing time and enabling customers to agree/disagree with its terms.

I have a Delta Dental PPO Plan. The plan is to be used for any dentist. I went to a dentist who accepts Delta Dental insurance and is listed as being in their referral dental office. The dentist referred me to his recommended implant dentist. After receiving treatment and paying for the services, I filed a claim form provided by the dental office's administrative person with Delta Dental. I received a check for 50% of the amount of the coverage cost for two implants. Because the dentist was not one of Delta Dental PPO's dentists, the 50% balance of the covered service was not paid to the dentist, nor was it paid to me upon my request. It is unfair to have a PPO for any dentist and be required to go to Delta Dental PPO dentist. In this case, Delta Dental profited by retaining the 50% that was not paid to the dentist, and they refused to issue me a check for the amount not paid to the dentist. I was informed that I was only entitled to the 50% paid to me.

Their customer service is the WORST, they pretend to do their job when no one knows nothing. I requested a simple task as far as my bill being sent online as opposed to physical and it has been over a year still no results, but they all say its handled, what a joke. Looking for a new dental plan. I've done some digging and this company is the pits. Do Not Purchase!

ow to help me. I eventually spoke to someone that said they would be able to switch back to the *** I had before and have the same coverage. Not once was I told I would have a waiting period. I was never even mailed paperwork or anything. Now Im being told by my dentist office that I have to pay full price at almost $700. I filed a grievance about this that was denied. I spoke to ********************* ***** and she said based on the guidelines of switch plans that I would need to go through a waiting period despite not needing to in the past. I asked to speak to a supervisor and had the displeasure of speaking to Senior Coordinator *************************************. Who was very rude and condescending. They said there was nothing for them to do and suggested I go elsewhere. It was a delta dental mistake not sure why they dont want to take blame. Now I owe close to $700 due to their negligence, gross sales tatics, and lack of communication. Its unfortunate that its the only *** I can have with my dentist.
