On Saturday February 15th 2025 my daughter was in San Francisco on a vacation just turning 18. She had her car towed by SFMTA impound sited by the *** ********* ****** ********** as she went to the impound to release her car they told her is $700 for them to release the car to her which was insane as she called crying she mentioned the impound even broke her key as I calmed her down and her not in a character to disagree she was scared & far from anyone I sent her the money to get her car out. As she went to get her car the car did not start they told her battery was probably dead but she could not do any mechanical work in their yard car needs to driven out. Given all day my daughter sitting there crying & being threatened if she doesn’t get it out by the time they close she will be charged again! We were trying to get ****** * for a tow but ****** * said they weren’t allowed to tow a car out a tow yard my daughter begged the impound to please tow her car out so ****** * can tow it they finally agreed and ****** * came got it & towed it to the hotel. We ended up driving out to her thinking it was a fuel pump we replaced it running about $300 but that still didn’t start the car we spent all day trying to find out what was wrong ******** pointed out it maybe the key so we found out the sensor on the key remote was broken so the car was not reading the key. I believe they took advantage of my daughter & tried to fraudulent keep her car more time by breaking her key. I believe my daughter was over charged the Suffering this company put us threw due to their mistake was unbelievable. We drove out from Hesperia to find out it was due to her key that this company broke & didn’t offer any type fix or payment to fix.She also mentioned a lady went & only paid $150 & she parked in the same area. Again, my daughter is 18 years old & these men this company took discrimination upon her & damaged her property. We want justice & hope no other young woman goes this situation.Initial Complaint

I received a parking citation from SFMTA via mail on 4/22/2024 for March 29, 2024 at 12:04 pm, but I have never been to ************* and neither has my truck. The ticket lists the correct license plate but then states that my truck is Black. My truck is gray with a white work shell as I teach tennis in ********* and was teaching at the time the citation was issued. I looked on line and saw that there are scams going around from SFMTA and thought this was not valid. I then received a letter from the SFMTA tax collector's office with a penalty associated. I left a message and wrote an e-mail to the Tax collector stating the information above, but still have not received any information. Why should I have to pay a parking ticket in a city I have never been, based on a mistake by the ticket officer transposing the license plate number. I am frustrated and find this completely wrong.Initial Complaint

My car was towed on a federal holiday for violating a parking restriction for certain hours and days associated with a construction project. As with street cleaning, periodical parking restrictions often do not apply on federal holidays. I believe the onus should be on the SFMTA to clarify whether or not a parking restriction applies to federal holidays clearly on relevant signage. Had I known, I obviously wouldn't have parked there! I worry that SFMTA is not incentivized to properly communicate restrictions of this nature to citizens as it results in meaningful revenue, at the expense of public trust and disillusionment. Do better.Initial Complaint

I was wrongly cited on 12/05/23 by SFMTA, citiation #********* (Reason: No Parking Anytime) but the sign has a left arrow that was covered by leaves so I called 311 on 12/06/23 request# ******** and requested DPW to come trim the leaves so the bottom of the parking sign is visible. I spoke to MTA customer service and was referred to speak to MTA enforcement **** and I reported this incident to enforcement and the lady I spoke to on 12/07/23 said the citation should have never been issued because the parking sign is partially covered and not visible. The no parking anytime sign has a left arrow at the bottom that's covered by leaves so the officer thought the whole area is no parking anytime but the only area that's no parking anytime is the left side of the sign and my car is parked at the right side. Me and my neighbors have been parking here for over 15 years with 0 citation, this officer is new to the area and didn't know about the left arrow on the no parking anytime sign and he/she jumped into conclusion. I explained in details on my protest and was given a copy and paste denial response from SFMTA. I've attached the photo of the parking sign with the left arrow but this is MTA's job to verify before issuing citation and if the mistake is made, it should've been corrected when I made the protest, not deny the protest and force people to pay. This is ridiculous!Initial Complaint

Years ago I purchased a ************* Parking Meter Card for $50. I did this for convenience as often I do not have the correct change when parking in **. However, I rarely found a meter in which the card actually worked. In the meantime, ************* has removed all parking meters and has a different system to accept credit cards or the PayByPhone app.I am planning on moving to ******* in the next few months. I had a long conversation with the company about approximately two months ago asking for a refund of the funds left on the card (I remember only being able to use it once, I think). They refused to refund my money. I think this amounts to stealing from the customer. The card will have no value to me if I move out of ************.Initial Complaint

I received a parking citation outside a friends home for supposedly blocking a driveway. I spoke to the cop issuing the ticket and asked him to explain why I had been ticketed as I was clearly not blocking the driveway. He even pointed out with his foot where the slope of the driveway began which is exactly in line with my cars back bumper (which I took a photo of). I informed him I would be contesting as it was so clear I was not blocking the driveway, which I did do. Despite his own photos and mine showing clearly that I was not blocking the driveway, I read denied my protest. As another car was similarly ticketed and even towed (same circumstances of not blocking the driveway), my only conclusion is that SFMTA will ticket anyone if a resident complains regardless of whether it is actually blocking the driveway. Feels like an easy way to collect money regardless of whether the complaint is valid.Initial Complaint

I received a citation notice in the mail that was very vague and in descriptive. I sent in a protest and never received a reply. I just received the ticket in the mail again with additional penalties outside of the appeal time frame. They completely ignored my protest and waited until the appeal time frame expired leaving me with no options other than to pay it. I would like the opportunity to dispute this citation because it was issued in error in the first place. The new ticket says I was blocking the intersection. In SF pedestrians j-walk and force you to stop and let them proceed. I was not blocking the intersection nor would I if there was anyway to avoid it. I would like the citation to be dismissed or be given the opportunity to appeal in person without penalties of any kind. Citation no. *********Initial Complaint
