    Edit: Changed from 3 star review to 1 star review for their aggressive and persistent attempts to get me to change my review and gaslight me about my concerns with the project. Posting this review here since they deleted my Yelp review. We hired Top Line Home Remodeling to rebuild our deck. The biggest issue was that they assured us a permit wasn't needed--only for a city inspector to shut down the project mid-way because a permit was required. When I informed the team an inspector was coming for an unrelated issue, they strongly discouraged me from letting him see the deck, which immediately raised red flags. When the inspector arrived, the project manager handled the situation unprofessionally, arguing back and forth rather than resolving the issue calmly. The inspector even threatened us with a fine, which I had to de-escalate myself. A professional company should know permit requirements before starting work. Beyond the permit issue, the crew's professionalism was lacking. There was a daily mess of trash, including food wrappers and nails scattered around, despite my repeated complaints. The crew also played loud music, loudly sang along, and even barked back at my dog when she barked at them. Communication was difficult because no one on the crew spoke English, which made it hard to address issues directly. At the end of the project, instead of taking responsibility, the project manager made it seem like I should be grateful for the extra work he had to do to fix the permit situation--something that should never have been an issue in the first place. While the deck itself turned out fine, the experience was frustrating, stressful, and unprofessional. I wouldn't hire this company again.
