This review is in regards to the Whisper App, although I see that there is a similar review of their Kik app too, which both have extremely intrusive ads. I also find the reporting/flagging function on Whisper to be unsatisfactory. When I report a post that is criminal in nature, this post still remains posted publicly for others to exploit and use, such as posting of another's social insurance number. I had only learned recently that if you wish to be heard by Whisper Staff, you must report to them, instead of using the in-app features. I wish that the in-app reporting function was taken as seriously as e-mail responses. In addition, other users are able to exploit the flagging function, relative to replies on their posts. If they do not agree or like your comment, they are able to flag the post so that even the user who created the reply is no longer able to see the post themselves. This can be exploited if a user replies to correct misinformation, or a libelous statement. Finally, my account was banned after a user spreading misinformation reported me for 'breaching their terms of use and community guidelines'. Instead of notifying me or replying to my direct inquiry on why they took these actions, I was not told how to find this information, until I posted a review on the Apple App Store. This kind of information should not need to be derived from a review reply; it should be included in a direct reply with the user on their app. The user in question, had privately messaged me all sorts of unsavory messages, and has and is still continuing to post misinformation publicly, and despite multiple users reporting him and complaining about him publicly within the app, and despite the fact this user is breaching community guidelines and the terms of service, he is still present within the app. The accounts of others, who are willing to post information related to or in support of criminal activities and behavior, are also still allowed to to use the app.
