We recently had the second of two furnaces in our duplex replaced and, like the first one, we chose a 96% ultra-high efficiency, two-stage furnace. The first furnace was replaced in the other unit in April 2021 by technicians employed by *********** ***********************, and Coaches HVAC ExtraordinAIR, and unfortunately, there were two unfortunate but avoidable problems with the installation. The first was that the condensation hose was inadequately secured to the roof and within a couple of days, it had fallen down into the furnace closet and subsequently leaked water through the lower unit and into our garage. **************** never came out after his workers replaced the furnace, and a new technician came out after the discovery of the leak and re-secured it as it should have been in the first place. The second issue had to do with his techs not replacing the existing two-wire line with a five-wire line that is required by the manufacturers instructions in order for it to perform optimally.Leaving the two-wire setup defaults its operation to a simple on/off system as if it were a mere 80% efficiency model. Not installing a five-wire setup prevents the use of the dual-speed/two-stage fan which virtually eliminates its efficiency which made it perform the equivalent of full power or nothing. Coach's installation was a waste of power and efficiency for almost three years. ****************' failure to quality check his technicians work to ensure a proper installation that left us with almost three years of wasted energy through lowered efficiency (in addition to their failure to properly secure the condensation hose which resulted in a water leak), necessitated a formal complaint to the state licensing board and the BBB.
