Latest issues: Manufacturer sent 6 replacement panels verified by LA Solar. Once arrived, LA Solar stated they are not compatible and took the new tiles and replaced with second hand old ones. After installation and now each time it rains or there is moisture in the air, the system faults and goes offline for weeks. LA Solar sends a team each time and leaves without fixing or letting me know the outcome. I then spend weeks trying to get in contact with them and the whole thing plays out again. It's been months and I need the following corrected:i. Compensated for the replacement of brand new panels for old ones.ii. Fix the installation issue so the system works.iii. Replace the broken roof tiles around the panels. Each time they go on the roof they cracking more tiles and I tell them to be careful. My roofer has stated that the broken tiles around the panels are collecting water and if not replaced soon will cause leaks.

In March 2024 we switched to LA Solar from ***** for installation of two Tesla batteries. I was told that they know the process and would get the work done in 4-6 weeks. Contract was signed on 4/1/2024. The batteries got installed on 12/31/2024. In the mean while, ***** has released an upgraded model which was not there when the contract was signed, so now we have a generation old model installed. We pain $6,2000 to replace main panel and a sub panel with their "smart panel", with an app to remotely operate the breakers in this "smart panel". They replaced the old main panel with a simple new panel with physical breakers (no app for remote operation). They also said that the contract doesn't explicitly mention sub panel. After an argument they agreed to do it for free, I thought that was nice of them. Two weeks later they told me that they have installed the smart panel at the meter so the old main panel now becomes sub panel and so sub panel is replaced If I want the actual sub panel to be replaced, I will have to pay $2,800 more. They couldn't explain why wasn't the old panel just removed altogether (and the wall patched) if they have installed the smart panel. And what exactly this "smart panel" is doing for me if all the breakers are still on the replacement "dumb panel"Project proposal projected that two batteries will last two days of our daily usage. Between 3pm to 12 midnight they drain up to 65%. When I asked for help with this. I was told that there would be an orientation and someone will give me call. As of today, after three promises and and a month since installation, I am still waiting for that orientation call. They charged me 33% more for the same batteries than quoted by *****. Their explanation was this is for their superior service, efficiency and support! I got no service, efficiency or support. These guys either have no clue what they are supposed to do or they don't care (probably both)

      Dear BBB,

We appreciate the opportunity to address Mr. ******* concerns regarding his project with LA Solar Group. While we understand his frustrations, we believe his complaint does not accurately reflect the efforts made to complete his installation, nor the quality of service he received.

-The contract was signed on April 1, 2024, and while the installation took longer than the initial estimate, this was due to permitting, utility approvals, and supply chain factors outside of our direct control. We communicated with the customer throughout the process and ensured the project moved forward as efficiently as possible.
-The Tesla battery model installed was the latest available at the time of contract signing. New product releases are beyond our control, and contract terms are based on the product available at that time.
-The customer agreed to a main panel upgrade, which was completed per industry standards. The installation included a smart main panel at the meter location, which redefined the previous main panel as a sub panel. The customer was informed of this, and despite the contract not explicitly including a sub panel upgrade, LA Solar Group voluntarily provided this at no additional cost as a goodwill gesture. When the customer requested an additional sub panel upgrade, we provided a fair quote.
-The battery discharge rate depends on multiple factors, including energy usage, settings, and environmental conditions. The system was installed correctly and is performing as expected. We acknowledged the delay in scheduling the orientation and have continued to follow up to complete this final step.
-Our pricing reflects the quality of service, warranty support, and expertise we provide. Unlike direct manufacturers, we handle all permitting, engineering, and installation with ongoing customer support.

We take pride in our work and have made every effort to resolve any concerns. Filing a BBB complaint against a company that has delivered a high-quality installation, provided additional value at no cost, and remained available for support unfairly misrepresents the situation. We urge Mr. ****** to reconsider his complaint, as it does not align with the level of service he has received.

      Sincerely,
      LA Solar Group

      Complaint: 22892930

I am rejecting this response because:

      - The delay was mostly because ****************************** could not manage the process properly. They didn't even apply to get the county permit transferred from Tesla to LA Solar till mid May, and then could not get the already approved permit transferred to them for more than three and a half months till I intervened and sent an email to the corresponding authority explaining them that they have already approved the work permit and all I am asking now is to transfer to another installer. After that the permit was approved in two weeks.

LA Solar never communicated with me properly on any of the steps, and when they did, it turned out false timelines. My requests for status updates were mostly ignored. In September, I was told that they have everything in place and they should be able to get the work completed by the end of September. False again.

Last week, LA Solar communicated via email to me that this type of work cannot be completed in 4-6 weeks (as I was told). If they knew it up front, why did they tell me that this would be done in 4-6 weeks? This, to me, looks like a Bait and Switch situation, considering timeline as part of the product/service.

      - LA Solar has confirmed that because of their delay in completing the project, I ended up with an older version of the product. They should be held accountable for that.

      - My ask was simple. I had two panels (main panel and a small sub panel) both were old and potentially a fire hazard. I wanted them removed and replaced with a new panel. I was recommended to go with their smart panel, to which I agreed. After spending $6,200,  what I got was a smart panel, that doesn't do anything for me. The old main panel, that they decided to call. a sub panel replaced by a manually operated panel, which I shouldn't need now that they have installed a smart panel, and the old sub panel left as is. How does this address my ask?

Rather than upgrading (removing and replacing) the main panel, they installed a new panel in front of the old main panel and declared the old main panel as sub panel and are now are asking for more money to remove the actual sub panel. This, to me, looks like another example of Bait and Switch

      - They have acknowledged the delay in scheduling orientation and are claiming that they are following up. What is the follow up? Over the last month and a half, I got day and time confirmed twice with a person named *****, that call still has not happened to this day.

Is this the quality of service that they claim to take pride in? Completing the project in 9 months (with pending items) that was promised in 4-6 weeks? Arguments such as this one only makes my experience with LA Solar worse. I hope they realize this.

      Sincerely,

      ****** *****

      Complaint: 22892930

I am rejecting this response because: I have been told that LA Solar will install the remote circuit breakers and engineering team "will look into removing the small sub panel". We don't have any ETA for either of these. I was told last week that the smart breakers were back ordered with no current ***. Basically, the same thing I saw last year regarding the battery pack installation is going on with these items.... I will not close the complaint till all my concerns are addressed.

On top of this, we have another issue that has now come up:

When I switched from Tesla to LA Solar for this project, I already had **** incentive approved for $21K (quote from Tesla). Quote from LA Solar was $5K more (for the exact same work). I was told that there is a process to apply for the additional funds separately after the work gets completed and LA Solar will take care of that paperwork. I was assured that this additional $5K will be covered in the end under the **** incentive. Only after that confirmation (and the update in the contract) had I signed the contract. Now they are telling me that there is no such provision and what they meant was that they were hoping that PG&E will allow them to send the Incentive Claim form requesting $5K over the approved amount. PG&E is not allowing it and LA Solar is refusing to take any responsibility.

      Sincerely,

      ****** *****

I had solar panels put in by ****** solar/LA Solar in 2022. They were put into operation in March 2022. We have never covered our electricity usage. We have had numerous issue with LA Solar. The initial install resulted in damage done to the roof that caused water damage to the inside of our home. They did repair this after much back and forth in 2023. In January 2024 we received an email regarding adding batteries using a rebate for being on medical baseline with ***. We decided to do this. We were advised by LA Solar to add more panels since we were not generating enough. They said this would cover us completely. At great cost we did this and added the batteries. We are still generating a bill every month and are now on the hook for the cost of the new panels. Which seems like it was a complete waste. We have reached out to the several times. They have been of no assistance. They are telling us now that they panels are not reporting correctly and that we need to pay another $650.00 to remedy the situation. They have in the past threatened to turn the system off if we did not pay the final invoice quick enough. Even though the system was not working correctly. We have also been told that because of the merger between ****** Solar and LA Solar that took place as our original system was being installed we no longer have the 25-year warranty on those panels. This entire ordeal has been a nightmare. At this point I wish we had not installed any panels since we are paying much more in solar loans plus our electricity bill each month.

Solar system was installed by LA solar group and received permission to operate on June 28 2024. The system was not activated by the installer until August 2nd 2024 after multiple emails asking them when they would be able to come activate the system. I was consistently told they would give me a date soon the whole time, stalling, asking me to take images of the system, things they should already know or resolve when visiting. After the system was activated, it was clear it was not working as intended - the solar generated power but the battery was not correctly being used because the system wasn't correctly monitoring the loads of the entire property which was the original intent, and the backup function was not correctly setup per the plans and single line diagram. When telling them about the issue and asking them to fix this on August 4/5, they did within a week give me a time they could visit and visited on August 14th to attempt to resolve the issue. After the 14th the system is non functional, does not report any data and from meter usage and energy company website data it is clear the system does not work at all. They have repeatedly asked me to try different methods of connecting the system to the internet which I have tried but repeatedly emphasized since the system isn't working, the issue is beyond just a poor wireless connection. I contacted manufacturer Enphase, and they told me that LA solar group needed to resolve it via a site visit and that there were missing wires in the system that weren't correctly installed, Enphase said "the ground to neutral bond missing in the IQ system controller and the ac combiner missing the neutral wire on the bus bar". LA solar has not resolved the issue as of 8/24 and the system isn't working, continue to not give a visit time or path forward and it is almost 2 months after PTO.Link to email with LA solar for details: *********************************************************************************************************************

LA SOLAR GROUP, INC. has been harassing me regarding a roof that was done and damaged and our roof with solar panels. There was a breach of contract because the installation of the solar panels were never completed by the 6 months deadline. I have called another company that fixed and installed our new solar panels after the breach of contract. This company is no longer out installers and have been trying to do a mechanic's lien on my property. I thought this business went out of business and was sued with multiple clients because of the disgraceful communications' with clients. So I would like this AR ********************************* person to stop calling me and stop this ridiculous lien of my property. If you have any question please contact me at any time. Hello *******,

Thank you for bringing your concerns to our attention. We take all customer feedback seriously and would like to address the issues you've raised.
Firstly, we understand that you decided to cancel the solar installation. Following your cancellation, we took the appropriate steps to reclaim our solar equipment. The mechanic's lien that you referenced is not related to the solar installation but rather to the roofing work that was completed at your property. Regarding your concerns about communication and the lien process, we want to clarify that our team has followed all standard procedures. The roofing work was completed as per our agreement, and the lien is associated solely with that completed service. Our goal is to resolve this matter amicably and to your satisfaction. If you have any further questions or need additional clarification, please feel free to contact us directly.

Thank you for your time and consideration.

      Regards,

After investing $50,000 in a solar system installed by LA Solar three years ago, we're facing significant issues due to improper installation and mapping. SolarEdge replaced our faulty inverter under warranty but identified several non-functioning optimizers that also need replacement. However, due to LA Solar's incorrect mapping, it's impossible to pinpoint which specific optimizers are malfunctioning without inspecting each panel individually. This error has turned what should be a simple warranty replacement into a complex and expensive ordeal. Multiple installers have quoted around $10,000 for the necessary inspection and repairs, all agreeing that LA Solar should be responsible for rectifying their mistake. Unfortunately, LA Solar has ceased communication after we relayed this information. The consequences of this situation are severe. Our substantial investment in clean energy, motivated by our commitment to combating climate change, is now essentially non-functional. The potential long-term savings we anticipated have been wiped out by this unforeseen complication. Proper initial mapping would have allowed for easy identification and replacement of faulty optimizers through the monitoring system. Instead, we're left with a system requiring costly manual inspection of every panel. We're deeply disappointed and feel misled by LA Solar. We hope they'll reconsider their stance and take responsibility for repairing our system, ensuring it functions as intended and preserves our investment in sustainable energy. Solar Edge replaced my inverter on May 23, 2024, after coordination with LA Solar. Solar Edge identified multiple inoperable enhancers, which they would replace for free. However, they noted that the initial installation was incorrect, requiring all 36 panels to be removed and re-mapped to properly diagnose and fix the issue.

I paid in full for a solar system to be added to my home in December of 2023 with LA Solar. I paid approximately $30,000 in advance at that time. With delays and missed appointments and failed equipment and lack of response, it is now 7 months later and at this time I still do not have a functioning solar system. This very day, after 7 months, my appointment was canceled again. This is a terrible company. I honestly don't know the calculation that gives them an A+ rating when they have such a low review rating and such an incredible number of complaints. I made the awful mistake of not reading reviews prior to enlisting their services (or lack thereof).

I am rejecting this response because:

By no means does replacing the battery with a different model battery make up for 7 months of trying to get you to make the system you installed work.  It is even questionable, not by me but by experts in the industry, if the Powerwall 3 is truly an improvement.  In fact I was told by someone at your company 'the Powerwall + isn't even available any more'.  If that's true, then you're basically just giving me what's currently available on the market, rather than an altruistic upgrade to satisfy a customer service issue.  I'm out $35,000 approximately that I paid in full up front, and have saved $0 on my electric bill in 7 months.  Let's say it should have taken 2 months to get everything going, and I'm being generous.  That's 5 months of $1,000 electric bills that should have been offset by the solar generated.  So I'm out real money.  This is not just an inconvenience.

      Sincerely,

      ***********************

I am rejecting this response because:

Allow me to address this in turn:

every single job is unique in our business and it might take longer then expected.

      - That would be a reasonable response if it had taken 3 months instead of 2.  Or.. being generous, 4 months instead of 2.  At 7 months that line is just utterly ridiculous.

I apologize that we did not met your expectations but therefor we upgraded you to a tesla powerwall 3 which costs 3700$ more.

      - The entire Powerwall 3 currently retails for $8700.  It's also ridiculous to say that the Powerwall + was therefore $5000.  Please stay in reality if you're honestly trying to address a problem.  Perhaps you gave me the Powerwall 3 because by the time you were finally able to install it, the Powerwall 3 was all that was available new?

Other than that we can't do anything, we did the upgrade from a powerwall plus.

      - Interestingly, I got an email from your company letting me know the benefits of the Powerwall 2 over the Powerwall 3.

      AND FINALLY

      - You never answered my email letting you know that you had not painted the conduit you installed.  This is as your video on your site shows is part of the process.  So the clock continues to run.  7 months and counting and the job is still not complete.

      Thank you.

      Sincerely,

Good morning *****, hope you are doing well.
Conduit will be painted as well we have all our schedules and the team that will schedule the conduit painting will give you a date.
Other then that I really do not understand what the goal here is, you are asking for money because of delays?
Solar or Battery installation can take a longer time then expected, yes they might take 7 months if things go wrong.
In your case your battery was RMAD. Now you have the powerwall 3 and it is working.
We have as well a 25 year relationship with you, so I don't understand what the goal is.

I was contacted by LA solar on 2/23/24 informing that during their monitoring of my solar panel system they determined that my optimizer needed to be replaced and that they had ordered the part. I was told to expect the part to arrive at my residence in 10 to 12 business days. I received the part on 3/27/24, outside the ***** business days but nonetheless informed LA soar the part had arrived and emailed a photo of where I had placed it outside my home (in a covered area of my back yard). I received a reply that day thanking me and informing me that they would schedule someone to do the repair. On 5/23, after no further communication and no work being done I texted a number that I had used in the past for them inquiring about the status of the repair. On 5/24 I received a reply by text claiming that they had emailed me and that I would get an update by email. The same day I replied that I had never gotten any email, I saw myself cc'd to an email to "Ghukas" saying the project was on schedule and asking them to update the customer (me) about when the work would be done. There has been no further contact despite follow up texts.
