On 4/1/25 I received an email notifying me my Acorn account was temporarily suspended. Only thing I can think of is my daughter’s outside account was linked to my Acorn account so that she could send me money. I submitted the requested documentation for review and I called to expedite the matter . I was told it will be 4 days for someone to review. I asked to wait on hold so that I could talk to someone ASAP because I have bills to pay and my paycheck was being deposited today. Was told the same thing after the second hold. I then told them I wanted to close my account because this was not asked for by me and they were essentially holding my money hostage. Other banks resolve these types of issues ASAP. I was told again someone would reach out to me in 4 days to assist with closing my account. In the meantime, I have no access to MY money, my bills do not get paid, BUT they will get their subscription payment. Are they going to pay for any of the fees I may incur due to not paying my bills as a result of this?Initial Complaint

I opened an account with them on November 16th. By the 18th, I couldn't log into my account, and they suspended it "due to fraudulent activity" when I hadn't even been able to do anything at all. For almost two weeks, I've sent them the information they've asked for multiple times and even called my bank with them on the phone twice to verify that I used my actual account and didn't do what they were claiming. It got to the point where I just asked them to delete my account, and I was told I would have to log in, which I can't do because they suspended my account—even to delete my account. At this point I feel like this company just wants your personal information to play around with. They got EVERYTHING they asked me for and they won't fix it. I signed up for there gold membership and can't even use itInitial Complaint

In 9/3/2024 I attempted to establish an acorns account through their investment app. It took an hour and a half, and after multiple attempts and several log in screens collecting sensitive and personally identifying information along with obfuscation by the customer service line; all I have to show is an account I cannot use and a concern for fraudulent activity by Acorns.Initial Complaint

I have some money invested with the Acorns Investment ap. However I cannot now access the account from my phone or computer. When I try to login it keeps refusing me access to my money. If nothing else I would at least like to have my money back.Initial Complaint

I withdrew the total of my investment products from my Acorn investment account and had it transferred to the chequing account also with Acorn and attached to the same investment account. My account was suspended, a clear reprisal for being poor and also for closing out my investments. There was no suspicious activity in fact none at all my chequing account had just the same day gone to -8.00 hence why I had the investment funds transferred to the Acorn chequing account, nothing suspicious at all so don’t bother with the “for my security” line of bull. I had withdrew the invested funds for a very important reason I needed it to fulfill a commitment I am legally obligated to fulfill on a specific day and I was short about the amount of the amount gates funds. I timed the withdrawal so the funds would transfer to the chequing account in time for me to withdraw them less the single day of -8.00 overdraft. I was at no time warned that this would likely freeze my account and send me into a nightmare of foreign representatives and endless upload of confidential documents over and over for days. Freezing an account in this way under these circumstances for no valid reason is the denial of my access to my funds and that is a violation of federal regulations. I did not sell off the investments because I did not need the money and in a timely manner. I was then told after hours in chat and phone that I had to upload an insane amount of personal information and in 1-3 days my account t would be restored and my funds in my chequing account. Many uploads failed or got lost because I kept being asked over and over to upload the docs and I did each time. It has now been 3 days and not only is my account still frozen with no end in sight nobody will tell me why or when it will be restored or why the 1-3 days has become 4 and likely 5 tomorrow and so on. I have been hung up on ignored insulted and laughed at by foreign representatives over hours and hours trying to resolve thisCustomer Answer

This nightmare keeps getting worse. I have sent endless documents to this company and their foreign representatives including selfies of me holding my id everyday. They say 1-3 days but it never comes it has now been 6 days and each time I call or chat with them they give me a different story and while this is happening I have no access to my money I have no food I can’t work because I have no gas and I can’t get anywhere with the people you get on the phone most of them can’t speak English. I am going to file a small claims suit Tuesday.. it’s the long weekend and I am trapped in my house with. O food and no money this is unfair and criminal and so own is going to need to compensate me for this insanity.Initial Complaint

I called acorn for help they let one of there customers or employees steal 500 dollars out of my account. Just for help on billing and refund. Clearly they let people steal other people routing information that don’t match there name and use it to fund and purchase investment on there site. There billing couldn’t help me look up the information by the process money on my account. But wanted my social and birthday as if I would give these people that Information and there draining my savings. Super insane and ridiculous. This company needs to do better and get me my money and figure it outInitial Complaint

Using Acorns Investment app. I requested a withdrawl on 3/3/24 of $150 to pay a bill. After the process was complete, Acorns sent a notice stating this transaction will take 11-14 business days. I immediately called them to cancel, as they informed me they do not allow cancellation on the app. I was informed on 3/3/24 that tihs transaction was cancelled. Today they removed the funds from my account, sold my investment shares and told me there was nothing i can do, just wait for the withdrawl. I now have to pay taxes on a withdrawl from my savings investment that was cancelled, and they just tell me "oops, we cant do anything"Initial Complaint

I have been the victim of bank fraud TWICE within the last three months due to fraudulent activity to an Acorns Investment account. I am seeking the return of $3,200.49. The first incident occurred on 9/27/23, $1,000.11. On 12/27, $2,200.38 fraudulent activity began on my NEW account; .05, .04, .09, 1,000.00, 1,000.00; 12/28: 20, and 12/29: 200.00. I am concerned the fraud is occurring with the help of employees of Acorns Investment and Georgia’s Own Credit Union. This is a savings account with no ATM card. The withdrawals and fraud is occurring by external transfers Google and Acorns Investment. Neither Acorns Investments or Georgia's Own Credit Union does not have ANY safeguards in place to support detecting fraudulent activity. NOTE: I can provide the supporting bank statements and online banking receipts.Initial Complaint

This business is complete fraud. They have drafted nearly 5000 my account. I made an investment and made some profit. I had to check the account with them as soon as I tried to withdraw my money from them they emailed me asking me if it was me I said yes and in return they locked my account. They continue withdrawing money from my account and they claim the only way I can get back in is by sending them all this stuff. I’m not comfortable with that I want you check sent to me in the mail with the full amount of my money and I want to close the account. I don’t want them having my bank information. I don’t want them refunding my bank. I don’t want them taking any money from my bank. I simply want it refunded to a check and that’s it I don’t want to do this anymore, they will not respond to email and if I do not hear back from them or you do not help me hear back from them I’m calling the policeCustomer Answer

I signed up with acorns, I did as told and invited 3 friends to join, to receive a bonus of $725. After my friends followed all steps, acorns told me I was not eligible for the bonus because my friends didn’t sign up between two dates. When all that is listed on the acorns app is a sign up before date, and my friends did that! I am owed this bonus!
