Mr.***** Abdul ****** CEO bank of WHITTIER, you judged me before I can submit any forms, financial statements and tax returns. You don't even know how much was I'm asking for. We come for help from our muslim brothers so that we keep it halal. I'm very disappointed in the so called ISLAMIC FINANCING RIBA FREE BANK OF WHITTIER. Thank GOD for our Jewish brothers who helped me out RIBA FREE! They have it right, they don't discriminate. Mr.***** Abdul ****** CEO bank of WHITTIER didn't give me a chance. Told me to go back to what I was doing it's better for me, WOW! Out of respect for the 80 year old man I kept my cool. Then he used the excuse that I needed 3 years in business after I told him I've been in business for 14 years. Then he went on and said to me this business might not be for you. Mr.***** Abdul ****** CEO of the bank of Whittier you don't know what's good for me or not. Your evaluation was so offensive and discriminating! If anyone needs a RIBA (INTEREST) FREE loan, the Jewish brothers at DEVON BANK can help you out like they helped me out.

    May ***** forgive us all.

May ***** bless and protect you.

    Wassalam

    Bank Of Whittier, NA

Response to BBB and Yelp Complaint of a Customer

The Bank received a phone call on May 3rd, 2022, from Mr. KA AA (********@gmail.com) inquiring with general questions about financing a hair salon. The call was directed to the CEO of the Bank. The following is the summary of the discussion during the phone call between Mr. KA AA and our CEO.

    • Our CEO asked Mr. KA AA if he has had prior experience in this business. He said no.

    • Our CEO told him that our Credit Policy requires at least 2 to 3 years hands on experience in the same field, which Mr. KA AA does not have.

    • When Mr. KA AA expressed his disapproval, our CEO explained that this is because we are a small community bank, and we have a very conservative Credit Policy.

    • Mr. KA AA said that he was in the wholesale business for 3 years and he has had experience. Our CEO reminded him that the wholesale business is a different profession than the hair salon business he was inquiring to finance.
Then we received the same feedback on our website that he sent to the BBB and to Yelp.
We regret Mr. KA AA's claims, language, and statements.

We respectfully disagree with the frivolous and slanderous statements made by him, about our financial institution and our CEO. Our Bank has been serving the community since 1982 and we have not and never will discriminate anyone that wants to do business with us.

The Bank of Whittier, N.A. is an equal housing/opportunity lender.
We wish Mr. KA AA the best of success.

Mr. ***** Abdul Rahman CEO bank of Whittier. Thank you for helping me explain they way I got treated by you. Exactly my point, If you had given me a chance to speak, submit my paperwork and listen to what I have to say, you would not lie about me inquiring about a hair salon. I never, not once ever said hair salon. So get our conversation right! YOU NEVER GAVE ME A CHANCE TO EXPLAIN WHAT I WAS INQUIRING ABOUT!

Then you go on in your reply that your credit policy requires at least 2 to 3 years hands on experience in the same field.
But yet this person was approved for a $500,000 loan RIBA FREE for a Bagel shop with no prior experience.
    Business
'Halal' Financing for Muslim Entrepreneurs Gains Currency

In mid-2009, Pakistani immigrant Junaid Akbar struck out at a host of major banks when he sought funding to buy bagel shop franchises in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. Then, in early 2010, the retired computer programmer landed just over $500,000 from an unusual source: Bank of Whittier, a tiny community bank in Los Angeles that specializes in financing for Muslims who want to comply with Islamic anti-usury laws that prohibit the paying or charging of interest.

Then you go on to say that I expressed disapproval.
If anything you disapproved of me!

Then you go on to say I was in business for 3 years.
If you had given me a chance to speak and listen to what I had to say, you would know that I've been in business way, way longer then 3 years!

Then you go on to say, that you had to remind me that my business and what I was inquiring about was a different profession!
WOW REALLY! REMIND ME? DO NOT INSULT MY INTELLIGENCE! STOP WITH THE CONDESCENDING AND PATRONIZING!

It's one thing to submit all the paperwork needed for approval or denial and it's another thing to deny anyone to submit paperwork never giving anyone a chance. So yes I felt discriminated against. Absolutely a terrible practice!

I respectfully disagree with your frivolous and slanderous statements made by you about me!

I wish Mr. ***** Abdul Rahman CEO bank of Whittier the best of success.
