On Jan. 28, 2023 my husband and I entered Liberty Tax and were called over by one of its tax agents. We sat down with her for a few minutes and gave her our W-2 so she could start on our taxes but was informed that it was a very busy day and that we should leave our papers with her and she would call us in a couple hours to come back and sign everything. After 3.5 hours with no call I decided to call her to see how it was going. She asked us to come back in in 30 minutes. When we got there our agent was with an another client and she let us know it would be another **** minutes. We left and came back a bit later. We sat down and she finished our paperwork. We signed everything, was given all the paperwork that was printed out, and left the building. Two days later, on Jan. 30, 2023 I got a text from a number I did not recognize that said Liberty Tax had given them a paper with mine, my husbands, and four of our childrens social security numbers. Along with our bank account number, our address, and phone numbers. I instantly thought it was a scam but called Liberty just to make sure. The manager agreed that it sounded like a scam but asked if I could come in and show her the text messages. When I got there she assured me that everything was safe, that they have everything double fire walled and nothing got leaked, the manager said they dont even print anything out except for the papers they gave us after we finished signing everything. I texted the anonymous texter back asking that they FaceTime me the documents. It happened to be a charge nurse I had used to work under and sure enough she had my paperwork. I looked at the manager and said you guys messed up and she agreed that they did in fact mess up. My coworker willingly met up with me and returned my paperwork. After calming down I went back to talk to the manager and she said she would talk to the owner and set up a meeting for me to meet with him. I still have not even received a phone call from the owner
