I purchased a vehicle from Ethio Motors *** on 10/05/2022. A downpayment of $5000 was given and the rest was financed through *************** Within a week I noticed the vehicle releasing a lot of white smoke, I visited the dealership to let them know about this issue and an employe (***) said that the vehicle had been sitting for a long time and that this could be the cause for the white smoke, he told me to drive it for at least a month to see if this will take care of the issue.After driving the vehicle for a couple of weeks the car was still smoking, at this point, (***), said to drop the car off so that they could work on it and fix the issue. I waited in the lobby as they worked on the car for about 3 hrs. then the car was ready. I took the vehicle and the very next day it started to smoke again, I took the car back to the dealership and drop it off for it to be fixed, in the meantime, I rented a car. The vehicle was left at the dealership for no more than two days when I got a call from *** saying it was ready to be picked up. The issue was never fixed! I started to feel like they were not taking the issue serious, so I decided to get a second opinion. I took the car to my regular mechanic, and he said, "I am not going to take your money I can immediately tell the car needs a new engine". I took the vehicle back to Ethio Motors *** and they said to get a diagnostics document because they didn't believe what my mechanic said. I took the car to Midas auto service on 2/24/23 and paid to get the diagnostics report. I also took the car to ************************* on 02/27/23 for a third opinion in which they corroborated that the vehicle lacked maintenance and the engine was failing. I took the vehicle back to Ethio Motors to raise a complain and request a new vehicle be given, Ethio Motors said they don't care about the car issues and that it was not their problem. I got very upset and returned the vehicle to the dealership as it was.Business Response

On March 31, 2023 (after 5 months), you came to the dealership and dropped the key, stating that you did not want the vehicle and willingly surrendered your vehicle.
We attempt to inform you that the vehicle does not belong to us as we are just the dealer, and it would be best for you to speak with ************** since they are the lienholder. However, you were not willing to even sit and talk.
You insisted that you did not care and did not want the vehicle, then left your car at the dealership after 5months later.
As per the complaint you submitted, ************** is asking for the unpaid balance on the account. ************** repossessed your vehicle, as they have the right to do so.
For the breakdown of the balance, it is best to contact ************** as we do not have access to your account. ****, It is best to contact ************** regarding your account to resolve the issues you have with the unpaid balance you have.

I am rejecting this response because: the response of the dealership is false. They stated that I just went and dropped the vehicle off, which in reality I had a lengthy text conversation with the dealership salesperson asking them for a resolution (fix the vehicle or exchange for another one). I want them to apologize and explain why they sold me a faulty vehicle, the receipt they provided me with of the supposed service they did the first time has the information for another vehicle, which tells me that they knew very well that the vehicle was bad and that the repairs was going to be costly. Now they are saying that the vehicle was repossessed by the dealership and that we should contact them. I want to know the details of when the vehicle left the dealership lot and who picked it up (after I returned the faulty sold vehicle) I want to receive the copy of the receipt signed for releasing the vehicle to whoever picked it up.

I went to purchase a car last August and found what I wanted at Ethio motors. I went through with the purchase of my ****** Altima and within ten days the transmission was so bad that it could not even be fixed, they scrapped the car. They put into another ****** Altima and within 5 days the same thing happened again. I took the car back and the dealer knew I needed a car, so they offered a ****** Corolla. I test drove the corolla and did the paperwork. About two days later the radiator busted on me while I was driving home. I called and they fixed that. Two days later the check engine light came on, so I took that back to have it fixed. In that first week of driving the car i noticed several other things wrong with the vehicle. The brakes are shot, the radio does not work, the heat works occasionally, shock and struts are bad, and the tie rods are bad. When I brought the car back for the sensor, I told them of all these issues, and they claimed to have them fixed. I drove the car home and realized sadly they had not fixed anything. I have been trying to contact them for months and they will not even respond to me. I can't even figure out who will accept my warranty to try and get the car fixed. I have asked repeatedly for them to just take the car back and we part ways to no avail. This is close to 20k of my money, the car only has 72k miles on it and this dealership apparently has a reputation for doing this. Any help would be appreciated.Business Response

We inspect all our vehicles thoroughly, however, we do not have the resources to drive the vehicles anywhere close to your daily commute which is extensive. As all your paperwork stated at the time of sale, all vehicles we sell are As-Is. And we encourage customers to take it for a test drive and get the vehicle inspected by their prefered mechanic. Since we can't predict what happens in the future, we encourage customers to purchase a extended warranty to cover unexpected repairs. Our service team has been doing everything they can to find a resolution and are still willing to help resolve this matter. As far as the extended warranty, all the necessary documents including contact information for the warranty company is on the copy you received at the time of sale. You are more than welcome to call the service department to make an appointment to get your vehicle looked at. The resolution should be them putting me in a loaner vehicle while they're fixing my car because I am paying the note on a card that I cannot drive and insurance on the car that I cannot drive plus I'm paying for Lyft bus fare and cab fare and all the rest of this stuff that should really be coming out of the motor vehicle companies pocket instead of mine or I need a loaner vehicle from them until my vehicle that I am paying for is fixed that's what my resolution would be or they give me another vehicle and sell that piece of garbage to somebody elseBusiness Response

We regret that your warranty company wont cover the mechanical problem you have with your vehicle due to follow-up maintenance and neglect. If you need information from the warranty company about why your vehicle has dined or any information regarding this matter, please feel free to contact the warranty company directly. Ethio Motors is not responsible to cover your vehicle maintenance or repair. I am rejecting this response because: you guys sold me a car told me that it was in great condition told me that it had good warranty under your car fax. It wasnt one accident and they took very good care of their car. You guys can quit lying to the Better Business Bureau. You guys are very unprofessional you guys are scamming people for cars you guys didnt even give us chance to say yes or no to warranty or we didnt want the warranty. All I know is you guys said you guys would fix it you guys didnt fix it you guys blamed it on me being rude and thats not professional. you guys told me get my piece of trash off oflife so you tell meyou guys tell me that you guys are not here selling warranties for people and I didnt have no warranty on that car. I would like a refund on my thousand dollars remember my car is a piece of trash your transmission issues. Remember, the financial manager told me that he is refusing to do service with me because I am rude to all of his employees. You guys are refusing to do any work and sell faulty cars and thats what you guys do for business sale lemons you guys gave me my wife and my kids a lemon car. Ethio motors is the worst companys sell lemons to young people not knowing what they are doing. Congratulations for getting money out of me and getting rid of that piece of trash, ****** rogue like you guys said and selling it to somebody that doesnt know.

7-11-2022. Is when I bought my car from this company Ive had nothing but troubles and then calling me a liar every single time it started out with my back window needing to get the fixed because they put the wrong one in and told me it was fixed when in fact when I picked it up that very same day just to find out it was not fixed. Then they wanted to call me a liar about how much it was going to cost and that theyve tried calling me all the calls that are in my call log Army calling to them. I dont appreciate being called a liar this morning 9-18-2022 I called to get my emissions paperwork because they have failed to give me that the manager of the place wanted to call me a liar as well saying just because they have my signature that they supposedly gave me my p*** paper which is a lie because theres no paperwork on my emissions for this vehicle in my folder that they gave me. I want something done about this I am highly frustrated that I have to go through these lakes to get my point across.Business Response

It is not our intention for you to feel like we are calling you a liar and we are sorry if we made you feel this way. On the morning of September 18th, 2022, you called the dealership asking for an emissions coupon, claiming you never received an emissions coupon on the date of purchase. Every emissions coupon comes with a yellow carbon copy attached to it for our records. As you were on hold, we went through our records to verify the issuance of the emissions coupon. We did find the yellow carbon copy in the deal jacket. However, you did not give us a chance to explain that we are willing to issue another one but also needed you to acknowledge that we did issue an emissions coupon on the date of sale. Please see attached in this email the carbon copy of the emissions coupon issued on July 11, 2022. ***** still willing to issue you another emission coupon, please call the dealership to set up a good time for you to pick it up.
