First Call was recommended to us for a kitchen remodel. First Call provided us with a bid to demo our existing cabinets, install new cabinets, do the plumbing, electric, and install a new backsplash. In the process they damaged two of the cabinets, left caulking on the floor, got significant paint on our floor, installed the cabinets poorly with gaps where there shouldnt be any. Our countertops were not installed level, and the backsplash was a total mess. The seams were terrible, and not uniform, the tile was stained, it was not sealed, and the tile was not level. First Call did not use backer board, or level the walls before installing the backsplash. First Call put down ram board to protect our floors, but they used some kind of brown tape that they could not remove. They spent several hours using paint tools and putty knives scraping up the tape which significantly scratched and damaged our floors. First Call tried to repair and redo one section of the backsplash, but failed. The light rail trim of the cabinets was not installed correctly, with none of the cuts at a 45 degree angle. When I asked them to fix the issues, I was told they could not. The caulking could not be removed without damaging the floor, the tile was crooked because it was a mosaic, the trim was bad because it was a bad product. First call attempted to repair one of the damaged cabinets, but only made it worse. We stopped payment on our final check to them, and have begun making repairs with other contractors. DO NOT WORK WITH FIRST CALL. They're good at billing you, and bad at everything else.

This home owner has refused to allow my company to address his punch list items in a timely manner. His complaint is unfounded and liable. I have attempted to resolve his issues but he refuses. I suggested that the missing cabinet items which were the result of a cabinet having to be cut down which required new doors to be made by the cabinet company along with new light rails to replace the original rails as they were poorly manufactured, when they came in we could come install these items and address his issues. Upon the initial completion prior to the punch list items being generated he issued me my final payment and we shook hands and I left with the understanding that I would return when the missing items had arrived but by the end of the day he had stopped payment on the check. The job has gone down hill from that point on. He has left me with no options but to file a lien on his property. I have been in business for over 50 years and pride myself on satisfaction with my clients when the jobs are completed. This gentleman is the exception. He is my only complaint and again his complaint is without merit as he has refused to allow me to address his punch list which any contractor has the right to follow up on any issues that might have resulted from inspections. The cabinet company that supplied the cabinets suggested to him that he generate his list and allow First Call to take care of his list as we are very capable to handle the situation. He again has refused. I have never said that I wouldn't take care of any problems. I have never skirted an issue and after 50 years why would I start now.
