Me and my partner were approved for a vehicle on 3/21/2025. We then decided to go into lakeside auto brokers to try and purchase a 2022 Supra on 3/26/2025 . We filled out paperwork work and left a $1020 deposit on a debit card and the other half a $1020 deposit on my credit card. We were told we had to wait until the car was funded. We waited a couple of days for a response. On 4/1/2025 we got a call from ****** stating my partners license wasnt valid and wanted us to put someone elses license down for the purchase. I got into contact with the bank we were financing through and were informed they would not be funding the deal. As of now lakeside auto brokers is refusing to give me a refund on my down payment, using the excuse that theyre waiting on a decision from the bank. I got in contact with the bank manager and he stated there is no issue with them that could be hindering lakeside auto brokers from refunding me my money. I would like to get refunded my total sum of $2040 since no deal was done and we never took possession of the vehicle.Business Response

We have received the request for the refund and has been initiated. We have been in communication with the customer and have explained the refund process and that it does take a few days to show in their account and they understood. We will follow up in a few days to confirm they are satisfied and the refund was received.Initial Complaint

In November of 24 I went in to purchase a vehicle and placed a $1,030 deposit on a vehicle. When I was scheduled to make the remaining deposit I informed the dealership that I will be unable to provide the remaining deposit due to financial struggles and no paperwork was signed, when I asked for a refund I was told I would be contacted and was never contacted so I filled a dispute with my bank and the dealership finally contacted me on 12/03/24 detailing that they got the dispute and wanted to try and find another remedy for the solution and to come in person. I was told that the deal could be modified and a new vehicle selected and to continue the process on 12/28/2024. The dealership told me that I could work out a deal but I had to close out my dispute and to notify them once I did. The dispute was officially closed on 01/09/2025 and I informed them of the information that the dispute was closed I was then told they would start working on the deal and someone would contact me. I contacted the dealership on 01/10/2025 to see if I would be provided an update and got no response. I reached out to the dealership again on 02/09/2025 and still received no response. Since then my account with my bank was taken into the negatives and closed due to the funds not being returned from the dealershipBusiness Response

We are aware that ***** ****** is seeking a refund but unfortunately when the dispute was put in with the credit card company it made it impossible to refund it. We did explain this to ***** and he did express interest in finding a different car which we were not able to help with due to other circumstances. We explained to ***** that until the dispute was resolved with the credit card company we could not move forward. ***** was to provide some sort of documentation from the credit card company stating that there was not fraud and the case was closed. We will issue the refund as soon as that is received. We have not received anything from the credit card company that the dispute is resolved as of 2/22/2025Initial Complaint

On Wednesday, June 26th, I went into Lakeside with my friend to look at & hopefully purchase a new car. I looked at & test drove a 2011 ****** Camry. After test driving the vehicle, I decided to move forward with the purchase. I personally put down a $600 down payment, which my friend matched, totalling a $1,200 down payment on the vehicle. We were each charged an $18 processing fee, which we were told about & agreed to. I also got my father to be a co-signer on the vehicle at the persistence of the car salesman, ******. Over the next 7 days, I reached out to the phone number ****** provided to me as his personal number, asking direct questions with no direct response, if any response at all. There were consistently no updates on the progress with financing, although money had already been put down and papers had been signed. On Monday, July 1st, I texted ****** requesting to know when I could come in and pick up the car, to which he responded with asking me when I could come in to the dealership on Wednesday, July 3rd. On Wednesday, July 3rd, my ********** go back to the dealership under the assumption I was there to pick up the 2011 ****** Camry as nothing else had been mentioned, but was blindsided by ****** with an "offer" for a 2017 **** that was twice as much money, requesting $600 more of a down ************ father would be the only person on the ************* stated that the 2011 ****** would only be available as a cash sale. After some back & forth, we insisted we were not moving forward with this bait and switch situation & requested a refund of the collective $1,200 we had put down. We were told by ****** that it would take 7-10 business days to be deposited back into our bank accounts. Since then, we have received no money, been given the runaround by several members of their team, including a manager named **** & a woman in their financing ***** & no refunds have even been initiated at this point although we have been told by several people it would be.Business Response

We initially went into the dealership on June 27, 2024. We test drove a red ****** Camry which we decided we liked so we put a down payment on the car. Communication was essentially nonexistent while we waited to find out if the driver was approved. On July 2, 2024, the driver received a text stating that she could go in the next day to pick up the car. Upon arriving they claimed that the bank did not want to approve her for the ****** but they would approve her for a **** Fusion which was not test-driven, mentioned prior to walking into the office on July 3, 2024, and double the price. Considering the situation and the bait-and-switch attempt by the salesman we decided to get a refund on the down payment and go elsewhere. The refund should have been initiated on July 3, 2024. We were told that the refund would be in our accounts in 7-10 days. That did not happen. On the 11th business day I contacted the dealership manager to ask where the money was to which they responded that they had no idea we needed to be refunded. I have called almost everyday requesting proof that the refund was initiated which I never received. I have spoken to this person multiple times about this as well as going into the dealership but could not receive confirmation because they "missed the person who processes refunds." On July 23rd, we went in again to which we were once again told that the person who handles refunds was unaware which is simply not true. So at this point, me and the driver are each owed $618.00 and we keep getting told "tomorrow." This is unacceptable and dishonest in practice.Business Response

I bought a car from Lakeside Auto in May of 2023. Ever since I bought the car has had issues. I brought it to the dealership to have it fixed under the warranty and they gave it back to me twice with nothing being fixed. In September of 2023 the mechanics lakeside uses said they had to order a part and every time I called for an update, they would say its on an international back order. Whenever I call I have to talk to my car salesman, ****** and he is very hard to get ahold of. In February of 2024 I had asked ****** about a trade and he wouldnt give an answer. He just kept saying he would ask about it. I eventually called the manager, ** and he immediately said yes I could trade and to look online and see if I found one I liked. I did that and sent the link to ****** and he started the application but suddenly texted me that it wont work and he wouldnt tell me why. I called trying to talk to ** and he was busy so he had the person on the phone tell me he would call me back in ***** minutes and that never happened. I ended up taking the car to another dealership to see if they would buy it but they couldnt give me what I needed. So I then tried contacting a lawyer. The lawyer needed the records from when the car was in the shop even when they didnt fix anything. I asked for those records from lakeside 3 times and they will not give them to me. They just keep saying I will ask them. I never get a call back. I also tried canceling the warranty with **** since they havent fixed anything and once again no call back. He said the accounting department would be calling but that hasnt happened. I also can no longer call from my own phone because they will not answer. I ended up taking my car to a mechanic I trust today, and its already fixed and I had my car back within just a few hours. They do not communicate, managers included, and they do not want to help those who gave them business.Business Response

Unfortunately the transmission for this vehicle has been on national back order with no used transmissions available. We have located a brand new transmission that we can acquire in about 7 days. It will take approximately 3 days to install. We apologize for the poor communication with this issue. There are still supply issues plaguing the auto industry with a scarcity of parts. The good news is we have located a brand new transmission and should have this resolved in the next 10 days or so. Thank you for your patience.Customer Answer

I am rejecting this response because: the car doesnt need a new transmission. I took it to mechanics I trusted and it was a very simple and quick fix. All it needed was a clip. I waited months and months for that. I would like my warranty canceled or at least for the bill from the mechanics I took the car to, to be paid for by lakeside.
Sincerely,

Thanks for the information, *******. Good news that it did not need a transmission. Please submit a copy of the bill to ****************************** or through this BBB website and we can look at reimbursement for your hassle and delay regarding the Traverse. We apologize for the inconvenience.

The business sold a lemon, and did not disclose that the vehicle was salvage. They changed documents after I had signed and they scanned me out of a vehicle and money. I bought the car and within 30 min the car blew up and no longer started. When talking to the business they said nothing could be done. The information they provided to me was fraud and not actual information they gave me the day priorBusiness Response

Purchased car 09/30/2024 with $3000 service contract. The door locks not working properly salesman assured that would be fixed, never fixed. I walked out of dealership with only bill of sale & temp tag! No explanation of what service contract covered or contact info, after 6 calls to dealership last one speaking to GM received sheet of paper that had contact info "must call this number before repairs" still no idea what was covered. I contacted service contract company and canceled contract which sent my 89% refund check on 12/20/2023. In less than 90 days of ownership I have paid $2500 in repairs on car that wouldn't have been covered by service contract AND STILL WAITING FOR DEALERSHIP TO SEND/PROCESS REFUND TO LEIN HOLDER. THEIR ************ VERY RUDE,Business Response

My boyfriend and I had been trying to get a car from them and they originally said the down payment would be $500 then went to $1000 and then to $1250. Our co-signer who they put as the primary NEVER signed the paper work, due to them putting her as the primary when she made it clean to the car sales man (******) she was not going to be the primary, and were going a different way to get a car and they told us we cant have the down payment back because were to far into the process. They changed the vehicle on us FOUR times and we never made a for sure deal. WHY cant I get the money back, we have other important bills to pay. So we can survive.Business Response

I applied for a car loan on June 2023, they said I was Approved and made me pay $500 down payment. They told me to come back after 3 business days to pick up the car. When I came back the lady said she felt uncomfortable to sell me a car with my permit license. I asked her to give me back my down payment y she gave me a letter stating the refund should be in my bank account in 7 business days. I didn't receive my refund in 7 business days so I went to the dealership and the manager said it wasn't refundable, I talked with another manager and he said is illegal to keep the refund and asked me to wait more days . I never received my refund, I went to the dealership and the Manger said he will do the best to give me a car so I applied with my husband and he said we was approved but we needed to pay $750 down payment because they required $1250 and we already paid $500. They made me paid a full coverage car insurance to get the vehicle and I did it and gave me couple days to pay the $750 for the remaining down payment. When I called the bank to make sure when will be the first payment the bank told me we wasn't approved for the loan, and days after I saw so many inquiries in my credit report with out my permission and couple transactions in my bank account from ********************** without my authorization. The manager sent me a text message telling me that I should return the vehicle or he will call the police without explaining what was going on. That same day we returned the car and asked for my refund and he told me to dispute with my bank. My bank filled out a dispute and they only pay $750 but didn't pay the first down payment for the amount of $500. I felt discriminated, offended, and they were playing with me and lying to me all the time and affecting my credit score with inquiries that neither I nor my husband gave permission for. Thank you.Business Response

*********************** ***** purchased a vehicle from Lakeside Auto Brokers with an agreement to place a down payment on the vehicle. The customer was delivered the vehicle and the down payment was paid. The customer needed to finish paperwork and missed sever appointments to finish the paperwork. The customer then disputed all charges on her credit card and received the money back from her credit card company. We the asked them to bring the vehicle back. We did not charge for the time and milage which would have been over $1000.00 nor did we charge to ******** the vehicle. We respectfully request this be case be closed.Customer Answer

I am rejecting this response because:
I did not get paid back $500 down payment. They gave me the signed contract that I was approved for the vehicle, they made me pay for full coverage auto insurance before picking up the vehicle and they made me miss days of work in appointments. No dealership accepts down payment without having been approved and they took my down-payment and I knew that I was not approved because I called the bank myself and they confirmed that I was not approved so the dealership checked my credit without my permission looking for approval. If I used the vehicle it is because I trusted the false contract they gave me, it was their mistake. Thank you.

I came here looking for a car. Im 19 and dont have a lot of funding, so I placed a down payment of $600 on a ******* sonata. The next time I came in I heard I wasnt approved for that specific vehicle, then I was shown a dodge dart that hadnt been cleaned, and had obvious collision damage. I was considering getting the car, but didnt have insurance and a few other things out of line before I could complete the deal. That same day, August 25, I initially asked for my down payment back. Considering I couldnt afford insurance, and the deal seemed a little sketchy. Once I came in, I was told I already bought the car. Even though again, I did not have insurance nor the keys in my hand. Also no official paperwork was signed. That same day I got a call from the general manager saying I will get my down payment back since I never left with the car nor received the keys. It has been a month. I have called serval times throughout the past month following up, and have been told just a few more days every single time. I have been in contact with the regional manager, who told me on the 20th of September, ( the most recent interaction with this place) that I would get my check in the next day or so. It has been almost a week and still no word. I have been blind sighted several times from several different people, specifically ******, just trying to sell a bad car and get it off of their lot. I have spoken to CJ multiple times and he has said that I would get my money, yet there is no follow up or follow through. I would just like my down payment back, thank you.Business Response
