I have been a patient of ****************** since 2010, having regular colonoscopies. In Late September, 2022, I developed chronic diarrhea and was referred to ******* for treatment. I had a 10 minute consultation with him on 10/19/22. When I learned about how backed up his calendar was for the next steps of my treatment, I requested to be seen by another doctor in the practice, but he denied that request. Over the next 2 months I called his office at least 6 times (10/23, 10/24, 10/25, 11/9, 11/10) and spoke to his medical assistant, *********, requesting additional help for my diarrhea. I was repeatedly told that I should take OTC medications that did not work and caused me more digestive distress. When I repeatedly reminded her about this, she did not allow me to talk to the doctor or get additional information from him. I had to go to the emergency room for severe dehydration due to my diarrhea on 11/26. When I called to advise the doctor about that, I got no further help. I had a further issue with the medication that the doctor eventually prescribed after diagnosing my illness as microscopic colitis on 11/30. The doctor wouldn't speak to me and ********* told me he said he was unaware of any side effects of taking a steriod. (!) Finally, I received a bill for the initial consultation which said it lasted ***** minutes. This was clearly incorrect (and insulting) and I tried to rectify that with ***************************** and ************************* in their billing office. ****** has said that the bill is correct - except for the time - and that they will not correct it or negotiate it. They even sent me to a collection agency. I have finally paid the bill under protest but believe it should be pro-rated unless they can convince me fraudulent billing is acceptable. I should have asked them to pay my ER bills.
