I will preface this with: It could have been much worse. However, we would NEVER recommend Blue Horse for a construction project to our friends or family. They pay no attention to how they finish work. There is a large difference between: Doing it and doing it right. We got to about 90% complete on a $330k+ project and they refused to complete it citing that its livable. One major recurring issue is confirming work to be done, then not seeing it completed. This is perfectly summed up with the punchlist (a final checklist before everyone agrees items are done to satisfaction- that they created) that in the end, they refused to complete. On top of this unfinished list, we have a whole house of just sloppy work, that includes: grout color issues and application inconsistencies on 2 backsplashes, 2 showers and a tub, the entire first floor tile flooring and the brick face of the back of the house. There are broken, chipped, stained and scratched tiles that are not level/even/flush throughout. The chandelier is missing pieces and doesnt hang straight; the bathroom light fixture is missing its glass. The light, mirror and pedestal sink dont align; new toilets are scratched. The master bathtub and faucet dont align and jut into the door trim pieces: the wall was built in the wrong location and there is a decking that was not in the design. We spent $2300 on iron work for stair banisters that arent symmetrical. $8k worth of paint with touchups ruined the finish. $32k worth of specialty ordered black windows and doors have *****, white and silver pieces in them when we asked for (and confirmed) all black. The $20k kitchen cabinet drawers were installed incorrectly, so there is damage to the drawers (which is seen every time you open them); one cabinet was installed with a 3 ***** taken out of it and painted as a fix; there are scratches from installation and the touchups are inconsistent in finishes. The bathroom countertop was installed damaged, and its backsplash has extra seams in it because they didnt get enough material. The carpet on the second floor has gaps, is uneven, and you can feel every transition, tack strip and seam (both in the carpet and the pad). Every single baseboard and trim piece is sloppy: nail holes half-filled and/or not sanded, staples sticking out and painted over, clumps of texturing and paint, inconsistent textures, not cut properly and forced into place, gaps and buckling. Almost all caulking will need to be removed and reapplied its uneven, missing in places and/or smeared all over the place. Light sockets and switches are in locations we did not approve and skewed on the walls. The flooring and walls vibrate when the water heaters turn on; they are in the basement, and you can hear and feel them turn on from the second floor. The doorbell doesnt work.and the list goes on.All of this we have in writing that they would fix, dating back months. Its all been brought up week after week in our weekly meetings (which we had to implement since things werent getting done properly) and confirmed via emails and shared documents. Now it must be said: they did review this punchlist, confirmed/denied some of it (this is THEIR list, remember) and did offer a small partial refund to replace/absolve them of certain portions of the project. However, as the homeowner, we are left completing the tasks that we hired someone else to do, and the amount does not even come close to fixing all the issues they created.Again, Blue Horse Construction pays absolutely no attention to finishing details and refuses to actually complete the project they agreed to. We would never recommend Blue Horse Constructions work, are extremely dissatisfied, and immensely disappointed. If anyone would like to see photos of the despicable workmanship provided to us, we are more than happy to provide. We have all of this documented.

Thank you for leaving this review. We are deeply saddened that you are unhappy with the end product. Unfortunately, many of the things mentioned in this review are inaccurate. Below we have addressed a number of these items to give you, the reader, some examples of what we mean. The client mentioned that ,"One major recurring issue is confirming work to be done, then not seeing it completed. This is perfectly summed up with the punch-list." Yes, every project has a punch-list phase to complete loose ends. It is the nature of every construction project in existence. Long story short, the final building inspection was passed and all work was ********************** issues: The client chose a specific grout color from a sample which was installed properly and then was dissatisfied with the color they had chosen. While we would have been happy to change the grout If they wanted to pay for it, they claimed that we should have been responsible for the cost of changing the grout as "the grout didn't look the way they thought it would." It was a similar story with the tile. The clients did the research and found tiles that they liked. The tiles they chose were handmade tiles that are intrinsically inconsistent in size, shape and color. The tiles were installed properly, but due to their nature it was not completely level or uniform. This characteristic, in fact, is one of the reasons why many people choose it. Its what makes them unique. The chandeliers were in fact missing some pieces. This was due to a supply issue the manufacturer was having. We reimbursed the clients for the full amount of the fixtures.Kitchen drawers: cabinets go in first, drawers second. There are often some drawers or cabinets that need to be re-aligned at the end of the project during the punch-list phase. We did that.Carpets uneven: Per our scope of work, we were hired to remove and replace the carpets, not to replace the uneven floors of a house built in 1970.Water heater causes vibration and noises: We installed high efficiency water heaters in the basement. They were installed correctly as confirmed by professionals on two separate occasions. They just happen to be louder than traditional water heaters due to high efficiency units having a motor in them. They were not any louder than your standard dishwasher.Paint finish ruined: As with all construction projects, at the end we touch up areas that need it. We used the exact same paint as we did throughout the project. We did not see any inconsistencies after the touch ups.Without going through the entire list, this gives the reader some examples of a few of the issues that were encountered throughout the project. The client has painted the picture of a project that was done half-baked and left incomplete. This is just inaccurate. Please don't take our word for it. Go to our website and check out the before/after pictures of our **** project and see for yourselves. Additionally, take a look at all of our other reviews and testimonials. We have been consistently highly praised for our detail orientation, high levels of customer service and communication.
