I bought a used *** (a 2015 GL450) from Colorado Motorcars (CMC). It had a sensor that was causing the engine light to stay on, but *** said that the part was on order and that they will replace it once it came in and I submitted the failed vehicle inspection. The *** also had a cracked windshield that *** said would be replaced. However, it has been weeks on both issues and neither the sensor, nor the windshield has been repaired. The temporary registration expires soon, and the vehicle still has not passed emissions/inspection. I have uploaded the email communication with the owner of CMC (***), the text message chain with the salesperson (******), as well as the Colorado failed inspection report.I have also uncovered an issue in which the rear tailgate door retains a lot of water and is likely to short out the wiring and electrical components within the tailgate, and this issue was not disclosed at the point of sale.I need a resolution from CMC, but they have not been forthcoming in the repairs, despite my continued attempts to communicate with them. I need help from the BBB to resolve this.Initial Complaint

Hi I bought a car at a local dealership In ****** back in early May and that same day it got the engine light and I tried to do the emissions it didn't even pass it. I couldn't even register the vehicle. I tried to return it so they could fix it but they wouldn't even look at it. Even the 2 times I went to their location. No one was there to help me take in the car. Later in May about the 3rd week it pretty much dies heading back home. They didn't want to help at all. It took over a month for them to look at it. I had to use my own money to get the car from ******* to ****** in the end of june. They still have it for over a month even now and they still blame me for the situation. They don't want to fix it until they get the money to start. I can't had another $3500 to the bill after losing a job over this. They have had the car longer then I have had it. I really don't know what to do. I'm not the only one with this situation from this dealership. I have read previous reviews about the dealership. I just wanted to highlight dealership that just want to sell you a car no matter if it doesn't run. I'm in the worst situation because of purchasing this car and I really don't know what to do.Business Response

To Whom It May Concern,
The customer is correct about the fact that if failed emissions. We set many appointments with Mr ***** to have it ready to pass emissions. He lives about an hour away and refused to bring it in because he wanted us to pick it up. We were obligated to make it emissions ready but the customer is also required to get it to us in a timely manner. He missed several appointments we had set for him. He never came to our dealership and was refused service. We wanted him to bring it in!! After several missed appointments by Mr ****** he had an incident unrelated to emissions whereas the vehicle overheated. Mr ****** by his own admission drove the vehicle for at least 20 minutes after the vehicle overheated causing damage estimated around $3000. We then offered to cover $1500 of the repair at our shop. We are still committed to that but he has refused to cover the other $1500. He has yet to even try to work out a solution for his share of the bill. We even contacted his lender for him to see if they would help. ************* pays his part, we will gladly finish the work.

I bought a car from the ****** location of Colorado Motorcars, specifically a 2004 Chrysler sebring limited, on July 1, 2023. They completely took advantage of me and my grandmother. I bought the car and then not even a week later it was smoking constantly and had a terrible leak. I took it to a mechanic and got two different opinions on what was going on. I was quoted AT LEAST $2,000 to only just start to fix all the problems this c*** car needed. Since then, I have replaced the starter, map sensor, maf sensor, spark plugs, spark plug wires, upper radiator hose, and have been told there's issues with the engine mount, a small oil leak somewhere. Which is so strange, because on the car fax that the dealership gave me, not even 2 years before they offered to sell the vehicle (listed for sale on feb 2, 2023) the motor mount, the spark plugs, and more, were all replaced. I was not told that the vehicle needed a lot in repairs, i was told it was just an old car, but not so old to the point of spending thousnads more to make it so it can just drive. I have tried and tried to get this car to work, it doesn't even move at this point.Business Response

Purchase date of the vehicle, September 07, 2023 Amount of Money that was financed $13,167.84.The business committed to making sure the car passed the emissions test. There are many faults and issues that havent been taken care of and are causing the car not to pass emissions. The nature of the dispute active, we need the car to be fixed so we can pass emissions, and I can get my Colorado plates. ************************* is the Manager in charge of fixing the car issues but has been unresponsive. *********************** purchased a vehicle on September 7th 2023. At this time he was given an emissions coupon to obtain an emissions certificate. The coupon and law puts the responsibility of a passed emissions certificate on the selling dealer for 5 business days. The vehicle was taken for a test on September 27th 2023. At no point has this vehicle been brought into our shop for an emissions related issue. ****************** financed *******. This has no relevance, however he stated an incorrect amount in his complaint.

In Sept 2023, I received money from my late fathers life insurance policy. I was in dire need of a couple of new (to us) cars. We ended up spending money on an Uber to take us to Colorado Motorcars looking for a Highlander that we had seen online. Once at the first location, they told us the one we were looking for was at their other location and it was in the shop. We took another Uber to their second location and was told the car had been in the shop, but the car was buried several lines of cars deep. I asked the salesman, ***** what it had been in the shop for and he replied that he wasnt sure, but he knew that whatever it was had been fixed. We decided to test drive two Highlanders. The first started up wonderfully and seemed to be without issue. The second started with a strange sound and didnt feel right. When I refused the test drive and asked ***** what the issue was, he assured me it was just a cold start and it needed fuel. He drove the car and there appeared to be no issues. As we had been needing a car for a while, and we were spending money on Uber for everything, we decided to purchase the two vehicles. The day after we took the second Highlander home, it was still sounding funny and making me nervous. I took it to a mechanic who said I should not be driving it as the flywheel was bad and the bushings were all rotted out. I started to make the first of many calls to the company, hoping to find some help or compassion. I was given the run-around for weeks. They also told me that we had overpaid for the vehicles and they were refunding us $1200 and the check would come out with the titles. As of today, I have received one title and a check for $287. I just wanted them to make things right and fix the cars we had purchased, but they refused to even discuss things. We ended up driving back to the business to speak face to face. We were told by ***** that he would see what his boss would be willing to do. Its now December and we have zero cars that run.Business Response

I am rejecting this response because:I have recently taken my car back in to a shop. It has sat since I purchased it in September. Since we have taken it back in, it was determined the starter and flywheel were bad and causing it to have issues starting. The bushings are still bad as well. Now that the mechanic has done some more in-depth work on the car to find that the flywheel was indeed causing the problems along with the starter, the newest cost to fix the car is over $5000. With the bushings needing replaced also, we are looking at repairs that are more than what we paid for the car. Also, my daughters car, the 05, also needs extensive work done to be road worthy according to the mechanics. We have spent over $2000 and still have another $4000 to fix the shocks and bushings on this car too. We are looking at having to spend around $13,000 to fix 2 cars that we spent approx $12,000 on. We still are trying to find a way to get these cars fixed as we dont have a lot of money and havent been able to get to work.
I believe that there were major issues with both of the cars when we purchased them. We were just too inexperienced with buying vehicles and desperate because we were using an Uber to get to car lots and we needed cars to get us back to work after my fathers death/funeral. I did explain to ***** and ***** that we had spent all we had to buy the two cars and neither of them seemed to care and also told us that there was nothing wrong with the cars. I took my 07 straight to the mechanics the day after bringing it home. When I explained to ***** that I just wanted to car fixed and driveable, he did offer to have the shop work on it at my expense. Even at a discounted rate, I felt like my trust with this company was shot and I did not feel like paying this company to fix my car. We also did not have any more funds, were waiting on the $1200 that ***** had told me we were being refunded only to find that when they sent the titles, the sent 2 checks. One was for around $300 and the other check was for around the same. Definitely not the $1200 we were told would be refunded. I did offer to let them keep the $1200 to do the repairs even though I didnt feel comfortable with the lying and manipulating that occurred when we purchased the cars. I understand that I was probably naive and I let them talk me into buying the two cars with the promise that there was nothing wrong with them. Its definitely been a ****** learnt, but it has also made life very difficult for us, as well as depleting all of the money my late father left us.
This company is a fraudulent company, selling vehicles to people who need them with promises of running and giving us the chance to get back to work for all of us. This company has been nothing but liars and cheats and Id love nothing more than to see these people put out of work. If you go to ******** and search this company, we are not the first people to be scammed by them. I wish there were laws out there to protect people looking to make larger purchases and dont have a lot of money to begin with. This whole predicament has left us all traumatized and struggling to make ends meet. If nothing else, Id just really love to see people like me, single moms and such be treated fairly and not taken advantage of. People should treat each other better and not scam people that are just looking for an honest car dealer. If that is the way these people run their business, they should very ashamed.
Sincerely,

I traded in my ********** Outlander for a Land Rover. I worked with a friendly salesman and I went ahead with it. The dealer owed me money on the trade. ******** stated about a week to receive that check. Almost a month later, several phone calls, another location then telling me I had to go down AGAIN to another location to find out there was no check. I ******* minutes or more in addition to the gas! They said theres a hold up do to the title not being signed. I had to throw a fit to get my money back. In addition I noted a couple of things on the way home from the purchase. The 1 key they gave me the faub was falling apart and they had no spare. Gas tank empty windshield washer fluid empty and the stop engine light went on and in need of an alignment. The general manager stated they will address the issues and to bring the car in. Went down he wanted me to leave it for several days. For that info I waited over an hour. The car hadnt been serviced low oil etc In the interim I asked about the key again; he needed some time to locate it. The songs and dances really concerned me so I took it somewhere else. It seemed very suspicious. I called the sales man and the gm at least twice each and I received more songs and dances. No key. The gm suggests I use super glue or to tape it up. No key. I must pay almost $300 for the key and paid $140 for the servicing. The operation is unprofessional. A horrible experience all the way around; it was clear this business is not honest and reliable.Business Response

******* traded in a vehicle with a title to a deceased person. We needed to get the title processed before we could complete this transaction. The payment for the vehicle she bought was the trade. We needed to research what needed to be done in order to properly transfer ownership. ******* delayed signing the documentation. Once she came in and signed we took the documents to the state and had the title transferred. This was all done in a timely fashion, the delay come from the customer. Once the title was transferred, ****** was notified and she picked up a check. At no time was she asked to come in and pick up a check that was not ready.
The car was serviced and the oil was changed prior to her purchasing the car.
We do not have an extra key for this car.

I purchased a vehicle from this dealership 2 weeks ago. It had a supposed clean CARFAX, and was apparently put through a rigorous inspection before my purchase. After leaving the dealership the vehicle experienced a violent shake in the front end almost causing me to crash. I went to a local shop, put the car on a lift and was shocked to see that the vehicle had been in a severe front end collision, a section of the frame in the front of the vehicle was cut and a new piece was very poorly welded back in. The vehicle also had a ton of leaks and the front end was in need of a full rebuild. I took the vehicle for emissions the following day, in which it failed terribly. They had cleared all the codes upon selling the vehicle and during the test the dash lit up with check engine lights. I returned the vehicle to them the next day, which was Thursday of last week. I have called and left several messages trying to get the status of my vehicle. They replied back today stating the vehicle would be done tomorrow and that they are not going to fix any of the serious, potentially life threatening issues with the vehicle.Business Response
Date: 04/28/2023
The customer bought this vehicle and did have a complaint about the front end shaking. We had a shop look at it and the steering damper was replaced. When the vehicle was on the lift ****** wanted to look under the vehicle. He was able to do so and after inspecting the vehicle thoroughly never mentioned any potential life threatening issues. We do not know what they would be. The vehicle did fail emissions. We did not CLEAR any lights. Per Colorado State emissions law, a 2008 Jeep Wrangler should not have had an OBD2 test. The emissions facility ran an incorrect test for a 2008 vehicle. That being said, we did made the correction advised by the emissions testing facility. In order to bring back to Colorado ******** the computer systems had to be rest, "ready". That took many drive cycles and at no point driving the vehicle did we experience any shaking or abnormal driving conditions. We do no own Carfax and have no input in what data Carfax may or not show for a vehicle. ****** dropped the vehicle off with no appointment and the shop was not able to look at it right away. ****** was advised of this when he brought it in. The shop was able to get it in a couple days after it was dropped off and the repairs were made and emissions obtained in a a timely fashion.Customer Answer

Complaint: 19990424
I am rejecting this response. To start, the vehicle was covered in road grime as I stated previously, making it difficult to see any problems with the structure/welds done to frame. The part they installed wasnt the fix for the steering problem, as I stated before the vehicle still has the wobble. They stated that I brought the vehicle in without an appointment, which is false. I called them as soon as it failed and was told to bring it in asap. I picked the vehicle up last Thursday, April 27th. They were very short with me, ************************* the owner wouldnt speak to me about the vehicle. I was handed my keys and a my emissions paperwork, the emissions paperwork they gave me was run through a scanning machine and they refused to give me the original copy. The following morning on the way to work the check engine light came on again. I brought the vehicle in on Saturday to check the code and have a full inspection on the vehicle. The check engine code was the same code that the vehicle had when it failed, PO455, which is a Large **** leak. I will attach a picture of the scanner with the code displayed. I then called air care Colorado, explained to them the situation, that the vehicle had failed for a code and that the code is back a day after emissions. I told them about the scanned emissions sheet(I will include a picture of the failed emissions. Its clear its not the original.) I spoke to a technician through ******** Colorados hotline. He confirmed that the shop that fixed it didnt fix anything and that they drove the vehicle until all the other OBD2 monitors were ready but not the evap system. This can be confirmed by looking at the Passed emissions sheet, which clearly states the **** wasnt ready at the time of testing. So they cheated me once again. Regarding the structural damage done to the vehicle, the shop that inspected the vehicle deemed it unsafe to drive. They had multiple instances during the test drive in which the vehicle shook uncontrollably. After further inspection of the structural damage they stated the vehicle is unfit for the road. The front end is in need of a full rebuild. I will attach quotes from shop regarding what the vehicle needs, as far as the frame damage goes, they advised I tow it to a specialist. I would like the dealership and ***** the owner to come clean and pay to have the Jeep fixed by a reputable shop.
Sincerely,

BBB Business Profiles are provided solely to assist you in exercising your own best judgment. BBB asks third parties who publish complaints, reviews and/or responses on this website to affirm that the information provided is accurate. However, BBB does not verify the accuracy of information provided by third parties, and does not guarantee the accuracy of any information in Business Profiles.
When considering complaint information, please take into account the company's size and volume of transactions, and understand that the nature of complaints and a firm's responses to them are often more important than the number of complaints.
BBB Business Profiles generally cover a three-year reporting period. BBB Business Profiles are subject to change at any time. If you choose to do business with this business, please let the business know that you contacted BBB for a BBB Business Profile.
As a matter of policy, BBB does not endorse any product, service or business. Businesses are under no obligation to seek BBB accreditation, and some businesses are not accredited because they have not sought BBB accreditation. BBB charges a fee for BBB Accreditation. This fee supports BBB's efforts to fulfill its mission of advancing marketplace trust.
