We hired ***** ****** of Malinois Remodeling Services to remodel our bathroom. During emails he stated he was a licensed contractor. But I have since discovered he is an electrician apprentice. On August 22, 2024 and we signed our construction contract stating he will begin work 9/14 to finish 9/25. We paid by check a deposit which was half of the project funds (receipt attached) He emailed us on 9/9 and stated that he would be able to demo the bathroom on 9/14 & 9/15 as scheduled but he would be delayed because of another job and wouldnt be able to begin the rebuilding of the bathroom until 9/19 (communication attached). We agreed to proceed. The demolition invoice (attached) was itemized and he completed most of the demo on 9/14-15. However, he did not complete the Minor framing labor. On 9/18, I emailed him to confirm his start time on 9/19 as we had not heard from him. He replied to my email stating he would be delayed again at another project until 9/25. By this time, the deposit had cleared and we felt we had no choice but to agree to wait but I stated that if he wasnt ready to begin 9/25, we would request a refund of the remaining balance of the work not completed. We requested he keep us updated. Again, we received no response. So on 9/22, we terminated via email (attached) his services and requested a refund of the balance. We have not heard back except to reply he got the email nor received any refunds. We are currently sitting with a demolished bathroom, no communication, and no response regarding the deposit.
