      The fees charged by this company are exorbitant. To exit their vice-like grip, you have to reach out via phone and request a MAILED CHECK- there is no other way- to roll over into another account. The only secured option that they offer costs $30 per check. I am closing my account ASAP and I hope I never need to interact with this company again.

      This company is an absolute nightmare. I hate that my employer changed to Empower. First I submitted for a hardship withdrawal and they acknowledged it was received, but then dropped it with zero communication or explanation. Then I submitted for a loan to cover the surgery expenses and that was messed up. Spoke with 4 different people that have told me four different things. I still cant get it sorted out after 18 days of starting the process and have to reschedule my surgery again. This company is the worst. They do not care at all. Its an obvious scam. I do not trust them with my finances.

      This is the most incompetent retirement company I have ever delt with. They do not process funds sent to them in a timely manner. They will not let you close account and issue YOUR money back to you. I would not recommend this company to ANYONE.....You will never see your money or funds.

      I filed for a Medical Hardship and I spoke to 7 different people to see what the hold up was and Empower each time told me I needed nothing additional. Then I got an email and I was missing information on the form and submitted it same day. Nothing. I called again yesterday 7/29 and was told information was missing but they did not require that information as it was sent to my employer. Was told my employer should hear something later that day. Nothing sent to my employer. Called today 7/30 and was told everything was okay and that nothing additional was required and hung up. 2 minutes later I get an email telling me information was missing. I just moved and put incorrect information on my form instead of street I put avenue. Go to submit my new form and cannot do it until the next business day as I "logged" into my account to many times asked to speak to a manager/supervisor and was told I had to wait 24 hours to so. This is completely Unacceptable as I told ******** the rep I spoke to if I die prior to getting this money for my treatments and my treatments are cut off due to non payment...My children will be suing empower! Unacceptable I need the money for medical treatments not for games!!!! Oh the best part is now when I submit the corrected form (just the address) it takes 2 more business days to process and then my employer has to approve it and then it takes 5-7 business days more. So treatments will be cut off until I can make a payment. Hmmm I guess Empower only cares about themselves and not the actual hardships people go through and won't release our own money we have put into this process!!!!

      My husband and I iare fed up with this company. Empower Retirement is running a scam and after looking at all the complaints I can tell you that we have filed a complaint with Employee ******************************** and next were going to the news media and we are also hiring a lawyer.

      My son passed five years ago. We learned there was a 401K retirement fund through this employer two years after he passed. He did not have life insurance. This ordeal has been overwhelming and mentally draining. I have spoken to the Attorney General and CFPB to lodge a grievance. I am beyond disgusted with this company. Mass Mutual and Fidelity never played games with our money. My employer *** offered to help too. I do plan to sound the alarm about Empower on ever social media platform and national/local newspaper plus news outlets.

      I paid off a small loan to access more funds. I am being told that my payment won't be processed for 3 to 5 days, this is 2024, folks. After that I have to wait 10 days before I can apply again for a new loan. This process is time consuming and not at all efficient. I spoke to one of the Manager's and he could not even explain why the process takes so long, he was just talking in circles. I am in customer service and deal with other customer service reps. on a continually bases. The policies and customer service at ********************** are sub-par to say the least! I see on this site that a lot of people have complained about Empower holding their funds up...possible class action?

      Spoke with a representative 6/21 and was told my check was issued and would be to me in 5-10 business days. I just called after 3 weeks of waiting and was told there are new steps in the process and the wait is ***** additional days. How is this legal?! You are holding customers money and lying about when they will receive it. The employees will not send any letters or email to even confirm having the conversation, and the customer is left in the dark wondering where the h*** their money is! How is there not a class action lawsuit against this horrible company?!

      Worst retirement company to ever exist. They scammed me and wouldnt allow me to continue to contribute so I was forced to withdraw. They then charged me a $215 fee for withdrawing $231 that was left in account. I would never work with them again. Customer service refuses to help or answer questions instead they just hung up on me.

      Wow, it is somewhat comforting to know that I am not the only one having these issues with Empower. Every review here is indicative of a problem. My plan from Mutual of America was transferred to this nightmare company. Certainly no doing of my own. In a nutshell, I was given misinformation by almost every person I have dealt with there. Yes, all calls are recorded and they confirmed that I was given misinformation that comes at a significant cost! I have voiced twice that I wanted to file a formal complaint. Somehow there is no real process for this. I am stuck with them and will not stop acknowledging their lack of knowledge and unprofessionalism. This is not good when you have to trust them with your money! I will move the funds as soon as I am able. Awful company! Go elsewhere.
