Carefully consider sending your children here, as we believe the conduct and communication of the staff, particularly the director, was unprofessional, dishonest, and at some points totally bizarre. Our daughters care was terminated with little notice. The director claimed we did not respond to messages, that we violated the drop off and pick up policy, and that we were rude and disrespectful to staff. When we received the message we honestly thought they had us confused with another family. Apparently the director held a grudge for 3 months due to an inquiry about a policy we wanted clarification on. I put a pull-up on our daughter and make sure she washes her hands before going in the car, and I guess this is forbidden and against their policy. We were not informed of any of these issues until we got a message saying her care had been terminated. They then refused to communicate with us over the phone for 4 days. The lead teacher leaves early in the day, so at pick up the teenagers that supervise classrooms often have no idea how the day went. They also seem to have problems keeping track of childrens items. When I asked about where my daughters gloves were that had been missing for days, the lead teacher in the Pandas room shrugged her shoulders and said, maybe theyre outside buried in the snow? Unfortunately it seems like the center director is under tremendous stress and does not handle conflict, or her perceived conflict, appropriately or professionally. Im sure the director might have some terse response filled with half truths below, but take it from us, there are MANY quality child care centers around the area that are far more professional. Pick one of those and AVOID Stepping Stones.

This is only one side of the story, and includes many falsehoods, but I can assure you that conflict and stress is nothing new, as covid has introduced a whole new slew of struggles for every individual and every educational setting. The issues were outside of these factors. Mainly speaking, to expect our center to abide by anything other than what is expected of us per public health orders, or the policies clearly outlined and communicated regularly, and additionally, to berate teachers in their classrooms, repeatedly to the point where hard-working teachers are left shaking and in tears, this will never be acceptable. We value the partnership with our families, and respect goes both ways. I sincerely wish your child the best and hope that you can find a program that suits your family's expectations. As you are a fellow educator, I am disappointed in the lack of truth and understanding, as well as the lack of common decency shown to the amazing teachers who provided your child with daily care and love.
