I am filing a complaint against **** Denver (McDonald Automotive Group) regarding the purchase of a 2019 *** X5 xDrive40i on November 9, 2024. I was assured that the vehicle was in excellent condition, had passed a "high-quality inspection," and had no issues, including no oil leaks, drivetrain problems, or fluid concerns. However, within five days of ownership, I began experiencing multiple problems.Issues Identified:Battery and Electrical Problems:After the car sat unused for a few hours, it struggled to start. I found over 60 error codes related to undervoltage, battery, drivetrain, and ABS issues. I replaced the battery with a new *** part, but the problem persisted, and the car still struggles to start, especially in the mornings.Oil Leak and Transfer Case Issues:After noticing vibrations while turning at low speeds, I lifted the car and discovered significant oil leakage around the transfer case. The fluid levels were dangerously low, and the inspection report from **** Denver had falsely stated there were no leaks or fluid problems. This issue was not disclosed at the time of sale.Dealers Unwillingness to Assist:When I returned the car to **** Denver, they refused to take responsibility, telling me to go to a *** dealership for repairs. Despite owning the car for only 10 days and driving less than 500 miles, they dismissed my concerns and claimed I was "unlucky."Request for Resolution:I am requesting that **** Denver take responsibility for the undisclosed issues, including the oil leak and transfer case fluid problem. I seek reimbursement for the repair costs and any future expenses. I have scheduled a *** dealership inspection for November 25, 2024, which will confirm these issues were not recent.I trusted **** Denvers inspection and representations, and I am asking for appropriate resolution of these defects.Initial Complaint

On October 17, 2023 I was leased a 2024 VW Taos car from McDonald Volkswagen in *********, **. After driving it extremely carefully and not hitting anything of concern (potholes, etc.), I had it parked outside my friends house on the night of December 9, 2023. The next day it would not move. I had it towed to McDonald Volkswagen on December 11, 2023 and had it inspected. I was then told it had over $10,000 worth of damage on it and would need to be repaired. I had my insurance write me a check for the repair cost and was told the repair shop was waiting on some parts for my car to be able to repair it. It has now been over three months (will be four months on April 11, 2024) with my car sitting in the repair shop and have been told they are having trouble getting a critical part to fix it, since it is a 2024 model and Volkswagen has not made the parts readily available for this car to be fixed. I have been met with hostility, supply chain excuses, and have been forced to continue to pay my lease of $355 per month while my car sits in the repair shop with no end in sight of when this part will come in. 3+ months later there has been no resolution. This has caused extreme issues in my life not having my car, having to pay for a lease for a car that is at the hands of the manufacturer for the part, and have not been provided any explanations or ways to mend this issue. I am extremely upset with both McDonald Volkswagen for their lack of concern for this problem and Volkswagen America for no urgency in solving this problem. I have been in contact with the McDonald Volkswagen repair shop since December 11, 2023 and have also been in contact with the Volkswagen Group of America, who assured me they would provide me weekly updates on the part I need, which they have stopped doing and have not been returning my calls.Initial Complaint

PART -1 Previous to bring the car to VW we a check Engine Light and SOME minor movement of the car after being placed in park however the transmission went into PARK, RECERS, NEUTRAL AND DRIVE with no problem and while driving shifted from 1 to, 2nd, 3rd and 4th WITHOUT ISSUE, outside of that issue, no other symptoms of having transmission problems were evident in the drive of the car. ***** explained, they found that ultimately the transmission needed to be replaced which I can accept as it is an older car with ******* miles. ***** Carshield learned this, they sent an inspector and ultimately decided NOT to cover the repair which is a separate issue, (PS. NEVER TRUST CARSHIELD, ITS A TOTAL SCAM). The repair of the Transmission costs more than the car was worth and we decided not to have it repaired. ***** ***** explained their Transmission findings, we declined the repair and ***** committed to having the Transmission put back together, this was WEDNESDAY. I spoke with ***** again on Thursday and ***** says the vehicle would be ready, back in its original but un-repaired condition and the total cost would be $469.00. My **********Law and I went to pick up the vehicle Saturday (Today) morning. Upon arrival ***** says the total was $564.00+....a difference of almost $100.00 and explained taxes and fees but did not refer to this total over the phone. ***** explained the car goes into Park, Reverse Neutral and Drive (as before) and reiterated that the Transmission needed to be repaired however they did ***** us the service of changing out the fluid and resealing the pan so that would help. Listening closely and wondering why he kept reiterating the functionality of the transmission, I was a bit suspicious and asked if the vehicle RAN AS IT DID WHEN WE DROPPED IT OFF CONSIDERING NO REPAIR was done.Customer Answer

PART -2 ***** EXPLAIN THAT HE HASN'T DRIVEN THE *** BUT REASSURED ME THE VEHICLE WAS AT LEAST IN THE CONDITION IT WAS IN WHEN WE DROPPED IT OFF. THEY BROUGHT THE *** TO US AND BEFORE TAKING OFF I VERIFIED THE *** WENT INTO P,R,N,AND DRIVE WHICH IT DID. AFTER TRAVELING APPROXIMATELY 1/4 OF A MILE I REALIZED THE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION WAS TAKING OFF IN SECOND GEAR AND WOULD NOT SHIFT WHILE IN DRIVE AT ALL. MY FATHER-IN-LAWS VEHICLE DRIVES NOW ONLY IN 1 OF THE FOUR GEARS OF DRIVE WITH NOOOOOOOO SHIFTING IN DRIVE AT ALL. AS A RESULT, THE **** ARE MAXING OUT WHILE TRAVELING AT ONLY 40MPH. I CALLED ***** AND ***** RESPONDS THSAT THE TRANSMISSION WAS DAMAGED UPON ARRIVAL. DAMAGED TRANSMISSION AND ALL HOWEVER, THE VEHICLE AT LEAST DROVE FORWARD AND SHIFTED GEARS AUTOMATICALLY. NOW AFTER 3 WEEKS AND $569.00 LATER I HAVE 1 DRIVING GEAR, MAXED OUT **** AND ITS ONLY A MATTER OF TIME BEFORE THE *** OVERHEATS AND 2 DIAGNOSIS. I AT LEAST EXPECTED MY FATHER-IN-LAWS *** TO RUN IN THE CONDITION THAT IT WAS GIVEN IN AND THAT IS NOT THE ***** HOW WILL OR WILL THIS LOCATION RECONCILE THIS ISSUE.........WE'LL SOON KNOW. THIS COMPLAINT WILL ALSO BE POTED WITH THE BBB AND CONSUMER PROTECTION AGENCY. IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS OR WANT TO CONFIRM OR GET MORE DETAILS ON THIS EXPIENCE, FEEL FREE TO CALL ME AT ************, *****.Initial Complaint

I purchased a 2023 VW ID4 from McDonald VW on 12/20/22. On 12/23/22, the car broke down and was in McDonald's service department until 7/8/23. VW of American agreed to complete a buy back for the vehicle under the Lemon Law. However, McDonald VW informed me that I could not be refunded for two of the protection packages that I purchased: Smartshield ($600) and Smartglass ($1195). The general manager, *****************************, told me that these products could not be refunded because they were applied to the vehicle. However, since I only had the vehicle in my possession for a very limited amount of time and drove it no more than a couple hundred miles, I believe this items should be refunded.Initial Complaint

I took my car in for the annual inspection. After we got it home, we noticed dark fluid on the floor of the garage. I called my service advisor, *******, and send him photos. He said I ran through a puddle probably and it was nothing to worry about. Every time we used the car, new liquid would show up. I also noticed that the paint on my wheel well and wheel trim on the front left side was discolored and nothing would remove it. We went on a trip to **************** and when we got back, the brake fluid light came on. I called ******* again and told him and we had the car towed to McDonald Audi on Broadway and they said the brake line s**** was loose and that's why the brake fluid leaked out. They did not offer to repair the paint at that time and ******* was condescending throughout the whole ordeal and I felt like it was gender bias. I took the car to the ************ center in ****** and spoke with a very helpful *****, but he is getting nothing from the management on arranging for this repair.Initial Complaint

I purchased a Q5 from *********** on May 7th. I was sold Tint and Mask on the car and did not realize at the time it already had the Tint and Mask on it. I called and told the Salesman that next weekend on May 14th and he advised my refund was in process as I had paid a large portion of the vehicle in cash. The total is around $1,200 and I was added to an email including finance and accounting about this matter and refund.Since I had not received a check on May 23rd, I sent an email requesting follow-up on the refund and was ignored. Today, May 30th, I spoke to the Sales Manager of the dealership who said either he or the finance manager would call me back with an update and I heard nothing all day. I called back this afternoon and they were already closed. I am basically being blown off for something I should never been sold on my car in the first place and now I am out $1,200 waiting for my refund.Customer Answer
