Contractors of Colorado has a prep course for the *** Building Codes Contractor exams. The Prep was a 4 week course at the cost of $2300. I took the entire prep course, studied diligently all of the provided materials, and participated in class. The prep course was absolutely insufficient for the exam I took subsequent to. Not a single piece of material on the exam was covered in the prep course. I have contacted *** and they are not in support of contractors of Colorado continuing to mislead students in the course prep. I have requested a refund from Contractors of Colorado, but they have refused to reimburse the money. The prep Course in its entirety is a scam and it is continuing currently. No one that has taken that course since its inception has successfully passed the exam. I do not want to continue seeing these guys scam people out of there money who are trying diligently to create a better economic and social path only to be conned by these guys out of what could be there last bit of hard earned money.

    Business response

    Dear Better Business Bureau,

We appreciate the opportunity to respond to the complaint filed by Mr. ****** ******* concerning Contractors of Colorado's *** Building Codes Contractor exam prep course.

First, we regret that the customer was dissatisfied with their experience. Our course is designed based on the *** guidelines, and we strive to provide comprehensive preparation materials. However, we would like to offer important context that was not mentioned in the complaint:

Incomplete Attendance: The customer did not attend all of the scheduled classes in the 4-week prep course, missing valuable instructional time and key content.
Inadequate Prep Tests: As a courtesy and by consensus of the class students, it was decided that the students would be offered multiple prep tests, which the customer failed to take.
Limited Participation: The customer did not participate in all of the test preparation sessions or take full advantage of the available study resources provided during the course.
Insufficient Study: It became evident, based on discussions with the customer, that they did not thoroughly study the required books and materials prior to attempting the exam.
Project deadline: through conversations with the customer, it was apparent that the customer was taking the class to get their GC license needed for them to bid for a project, which in our opinion resulted in the customer ******* to take the exam. We would like to point out that ****** was the first student to take the exam from this cohort - every other student is still studying and utilizing our practice exam materials to prepare.

After the customer did not pass their first attempt at the exam, we were proactive in offering support, including:

Additional Resources: We offered extended one-on-one time with the course instructor to review challenging material.

Exam Fee Coverage: We offered to cover the costs associated with the customers second attempt at the exam.

External Study Materials: We also offered to purchase additional external study materials on behalf of the customer to supplement their preparation.

Unfortunately, the customer declined all of these offers for additional assistance and instead insisted on a full refund under threat of litigation. As a matter of policy, we do not offer refunds under these circumstances.

We take all feedback seriously and regularly update our course content based on industry changes and student input. Our course has had very positive feedback from our students, which we will be happy to provide, but we recognize that individual study habits and preparation can vary widely.

We hope this response provides a ****** picture of the situation. Contractors of Colorado remains committed to supporting our students and helping them succeed in their careers.

Thank you for your time and consideration.

I am rejecting this response because:

The test prep over the 4 scheduled weeks was inadequate.

Contractors of America did not follow through with their promise to cover additional testing prep or costs from icc.

When requested to make payment for additional test prep and exam cost, they requested all further communication be directed to their lawyer who would not communicate with me directly and requested I hire counsel to ensure they followed through.

Ridiculous excuse for a company. They have not had a single successfully licensed student and will continue to scam others if they are allowed to continue operating.

    Sincerely,

    ****** *******
