I contracted *** Black through my insurance company to mediate and repair water damage to the wood floors in my master closet. The entire first floor, approximately ***** square feet, I was told needed refinishing. Unfortunately, the initial flooring company aggressively sanded an area to fix a "hump," which they werent contracted to address, resulting in damage that now requires board replacement. Their sanding machine also etched the floors throughout, necessitating buffing and screening by another company. The second company left large brush marks and delivered poor-quality work. Additionally, the water mitigation was incomplete, leaving the initial warping from water damage in the master closet. While *** Black reimbursed my insurance company approximately $2,500 for the closet refinishing, they refused to restore the floors to their original *************, two years later, my floors remain in the same state as before *** Blacks involvement, and they have refused to honor their warranty. I cannot recommend this company due to their lack of customer service, poor workmanship, and condescension toward their customers. If I could leave no stars, I would.

Thu, we have worked with you through this process and have responded to every inquiry you have made to our company. We both understood and agreed that you had a pre-existing condition in your home where there was a large hump in your floor directly above a steel I-Beam support in the basement where your addition tied into the existing structure. The hardwood flooring directly above this was compromised due to this condition. Because you suffered water damage to your wood flooring, your insurance carrier compensated us to sand and refinish your existing wood flooring. Our Senior Project Manager discussed this with you in person that by simply sanding and refinishing the wood flooring , it would not correct this existing issue. You agreed that this was not your expectation to have the hump repaired in this area.

Advanced Flooring Inspection, an independent third-party flooring inspection company was engaged after the work was completed to inspect and report on your concerns, in which they ruled in our favor. We were both provided this detailed report that addresses the specific concerns with your flooring. As we have discussed on several occasions, this is not a warranty issue, this is an existing structural condition caused by adding the addition to your home in the years past.

Regarding the mitigation being incomplete, we were not contracted to complete the work in the master closet, your insurance company paid you directly for these repairs which you elected to address outside of our company.

Our whole kitchen had to be remodeled because our new dishwasher leaked t and ruined the kitchen floor. *************************** and *********************************, from Jim Black Construction, took care of everything for us. From helping us with new floors, cabinets and appliances, they didn't only find the best prices but also took care of supervising all the installation and making sure everything was done correctly. Five start to them and the whole Jim Black Construction crew!

A toilet leak on the main floor left us with significant water and mold damage in our downstairs bathroom. After receiving several recommendations, we turned to Jim Black construction for our mold remediation and bathroom restoration. Our project manager kept everything organized, and on time. They provided the services of a design consultant to help us choose materials and colors for our bathroom restoration, without additional cost. The project manager stopped by multiple times to check on progress and address any concerns. The mold and asbestos remediation went quickly and efficiently. The bathroom was restored on time, and on budget. The minimal hiccups, and change orders, were handled immediately and professionally. *** Black was an excellent advocate for us with our insurance company and obtained the maximum, correct, insurance payment for our claim. Final project completion and payment were clearly explained and documented. We are very satisfied with *** Black's plumbers, electricians, painters and general trades, and the overall outcome of the entire project. Our bathroom is restored and is more useful than before! We are completely satisfied and would recommend Jim Black construction to anyone considering a repair, restoration, or home improvement project.

We had a water leak in our home that did some significant damage which was covered by our Nationwide Preferred homeowners policy. The claims adjustor said that one of their contractors is Jim Black Construction (hereinafter, "JBC")and insureds had made favorable comments. During my initial contact, JBC thoroughly explained the process including water remediation and repair. JBC remediation people arrived the next day and started mitigating the damage including preventing mold issues. ****** was the Project Manager for both remediation and repairs/restoration. ***** was the Project Superintendent. ****** wrote the scope of work and he didn't miss a thing. ***** supervised the workers and made sure everything was completed to our satisfaction. Both were at all times professional and responsive. The sub contractors they used did their work well and were similarly professional and trustworthy. Well done Jim Black Construction!

Jim Black Construction is the worst contractor I've ever had. They were contracted to replace our fence and retaining wall. The sub-contractor they used for the fence failed to correctly attach panels so they began pulling apart within 2 weeks. They left dangerous piles of construction trash, at least 10 feet tall and it took 2 weeks of back and forth with *** Black to get all of it removed. They tore down and had to put up the retaining wall multiple times and it was still worse then it was originally when they were "done". The first time the did the retaining wall they brought down a large section of the new fence and when the "repaired" that is was crooked and had 2+ feet bowing in either direction of it and was uneven at the top. They also cut our neighbors internet cable and left him unable to work for 5 days and outright refused to fix it. The neighbor had to get his internet company to come out and fix it. What should have taken a month maybe, took over 3 months with the company failing to address and fix the deficiencies in their work, not picking up and removing their trash in a timely and safe manner and their sub-contractors being misogynistic in their comments to me. Their work is shoddy at best, they fail to meet the contract terms and are dismissive and rude to their customers. Our full complaint is detailed and over 6 pages which will be posted on ******* DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY UNDER ANY CIRCUSTANCES.

Unfortunately, the job did not go as planned and we did make some mistakes and apologize for that, but we agreed to repair something we probably shouldnt have. We agreed to use existing material on your retaining wall to save you money and give you a good price. We were in contact with your neighbor the day the internet line was cut and offered to have the line repaired several times. He was not upset and wanted to contact ******* himself to have it repaired. Consequently, some of the work completed by us was not acceptable and to compensate for that we did not charge you for the work you were not satisfied with.
