I purchased several sets of Duracell batteries (~$75), which claim a 10 year shelf life. Unfortunately, all of the batteries have lost significant charge, and a good number have leaked. One set of AA batteries leaked into a scale. I contacted Duracell in 2022 but they only offered to reimburse for the scale it leaked into (~$30), and $45 worth of Duracell coupons. For obvious reasons, I'm not looking to purchase more product with the potential to damage the equipment it's in; I am looking for a refund for the batteries that did not meet its claim guarantee. I originally contacted Duracell about 5 set of batteries, but two of those have since passed their expiration date. These are the specifics about the remaining sets purchased that are still within their expiration dates: Set 1 (24 AA batteries), purchased 6/25/2017, battery expiration date 12/2025 Set 2 (12 AAA batteries), no records of purchase date, battery expiration date 3/2027 Set 3 (8 D batteries), purchased 8/22/2020, battery expiration date 3/2029

      Better Business Bureau:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********. They noted that they will be sending a check in the amount of $81.35 to cover the costs of three sets of the batteries, and the scale it damaged in 6-8 weeks (screenshot attached). Assuming that check gets to me, this resolution is satisfactory to me.

I bought a portable jump starter for my car and when came the day I finally needed it, It failed to work. I contacted the manufacturer through email for a replacement. I was instructed to provide evidence of purchase. After providing all receipts and proof of purchase, I was told that the manufacturer stop manufacturing them and that I should be receiving a check in a couple of weeks . It's been a month and I am with no news of them. All my attempts have remained unanswered .

On 5/8/20 I purchased a Duracell Ultra Platinum ********* with a 4-year warranty from ********* ****. In 4/23 the battery level fell to 11.7v and I took it to ********* **** to address the issue since it was still under warranty. After 8 hours ********* **** returned the battery to me stating that it was fine. The volts dropped to 12.5v within one day of getting it back. From that point I had to keep it on a trickle charger. The same issue occurred in 11/23 after leaving the car at the airport for two days with the trickle charger. I again returned it to ********* ****. They had the battery for more than 24hrs before returning it to me telling me the battery was fine. This time, however I left the battery out of my vehicle overnight (with no load on it) and the volts dropped back down to 12.2v and would not start the car. At this level the battery is about 50% of capacity and no longer able to hold a sufficient charge to start and run the car. Even when I'm able to start the car after putting it on a charger the volts will not stay high enough to run the Prius hybrid when the engine shuts down. Even with a trickle charger attached the battery will not hold above 12.5v and quickly drops once the charger is removed. I contacted ********* **** again they referred me to Duracell. I contacted Duracell via email to inquire about their warranty but they did not respond to that request and rather directed me back to ********* ****. ********* **** told me that Duracell would not authorize replacement and Duracell told me ********* **** handles warranty issues. This leaves me with no ability to address the defective battery. Neither Duracell nor ********* **** would tell me the guidelines under which the battery should be replaced under warranty. At minimum it should be able to start and keep a 1.8 liter Prius running. A properly functioning 12v battery should maintain 12.6v for days without dropping. The battery should be replaced under warranty.

      Complaint: ********

I am rejecting this response because:

      This is simply not true.

I have not received a call or email from anyone regarding this issue. After reading Duracell's  response claiming to have reached out to me I called their customer relations department. They found the complaint but stated that they had no record of anyone contacting me. I was then transferred me to someone who handled complaints. That person also found no record of anyone from Duracell contacting me. They transferred me to the vendor, ********* **** corporate office.

The ********* **** representative also stated they had no record of anyone contacting me, although they had a record of the complaint. They then concluded that it must have been referred to the local store but had no record of a store referral, no record of the store being contacted regarding the complaint, nor a record of anyone contacting me.

Additionally, I have no messages or missed calls from any number associated with Duracell or ********* ****.

The ********* **** representative told me that someone from the corporate office would contact me. They did not so I called again. Again I was told ********* **** had no one assigned to the case and would return the call. As of this reply no one has contacted me despite confirming both my phone number and email address.

      Sincerely,

      **** **********

I bought a Duracell AAA 40 pack from ****** and started leaking. The package has a 10 years storage guarantee. I contacted Duracell and they got all the package information and they said they will send me a $15 gift card. I accepted this offer but I received a Coupon with the value of $15. I tried to use the coupon at ****** but ****** will not accept their coupon. If I try to buy from any other retailer the 40 pack will cost around $30. I didn’t use any of the batteries in the leaking package and I prefer if Duracell send me a 40 AAA package instead of the coupon. They can cancel the coupon when I get a replacement package.

Mar. 14, 2023 I created online case #****** with Duracell Product Specialist Gina for leaking Duralock ****** AA batteries damaging my ******** ******** ****** ******* Wall Clock. I created the case by completing Duracell's online form with all the requested information such as best before date, battery date code, installation date, etc. and provided four photos of the leaking batteries and the corroding battery contacts in my clock. I asked if Duracell will "repair or replace" the clock as guaranteed on the back of Duracell's original product packaging. Mar. 15, 2023 I replied to Duracell Gina's request for additional information such as the device's age, Duracell's packaging code, approximate device replacement cost, environmental conditions, storage conditions, battery supplier, etc. As instructed, I "Replied" to Duracell's original message without changing the subject line. Apr. 4, 2023 I replied a second time to the message thread without changing the subject line and asked Duracell to confirm that they have everything that they needed from me to proceed with my claim. No response from Duracell. Apr. 12, 2023 I replied a third time to Duracell's message thread without changing the subject line, asking Duracell to respond with the status of case #******. Again, no response from Duracell. Apr. 28, 2023 Created this BBB case seeking $76 check for replacement cost of ******** ******** ****** ******* Wall Clock since I do not trust Duracell to respond if I sent them the clock for repair.

We reached out to this consumer and unfortunately, they do not have their device or batteries for us to analyze. Without these we are unable to move forward with this claim as we do not have anything to analyze to help us understand what occurred. Strangely, we have also discovered that 2 of the pictures that the consumer submitted were duplicate images taken from another consumer from **** and ******. For these reasons , we have notified the consumer that their claim has been denied at this time. Here are the images that I mentioned above. As mentioned, they appear to be taken from other images posted from **** and ******.

Submitted a warranty claim for a pack of 4 CR/DL 2016 batteries stored in side of a regular house that failed within the 10yr guarantee that Duracell claims and 2 batteries were never opened in the original sealed package. Duracell claims it stands by its warranty and will send a coupon for a replacement of 4 pack. I requested the customer services representative just shipped me a 4pack CR 2016 batteries, my request was rejected. However, the coupon received is limited to $10 (sale price of 4 pack is above $10 before the tax) can not buy a 4 pack replacement pack and incredibly difficult to use as I have yet to find a local store carry 4 pack CR2016 that can accept this coupon including **** ****** ******** *** , and online stores don't accept this coupon either. When Duracell claimed it standby its product quality and then provided a replacement coupon that 1. not a local store will carry such product to buy/pickup in store and 2. no online purchase/checkout will accept this coupons, then this replacement coupon is useless and Duracell stands by its warranty by giving consumers a useless paper. If Duracell's warranty is to provide coupons that is so difficult to use, they should reconsider providing a warranty . Duracell misleads the consumers that it provides 10 years warranty. What does the print on the back of package “Best before Mar. 2030” mean ? Now is only March 2023.
