    On September 08, 2023, I paid Wellington Cortez $600 as an upfront installment to paint the garage of my house. We agreed on the terms of the job but he did not provide a contract. He said he would. Twelve days later he had not started the job so I asked for the money back. He said he would return it the following week, Friday, which is today, 09/29/2023. He did not return the money.

    Wellington Cortez and I agreed to do my master bathroom renovation. I contacted him on June 29th, 2022 by phone. He promptly came to my house to send me an estimated cost for the renovation. Wellington asked me for a pre-payment of $700 dollars so he could put me on schedule. I paid him on June 6th. As I live in a condominium the association asked me to send his insurance and the renovation contract 1 month before the renovation starts. I alerted him almost every day and sent him reminders that I needed the documents before July 19th, which he didn't send me on time. Due to the lack of documentation not sent on time, I had to cancel the renovation service. I asked him to refund my $700 (since he hasn't sent the necessary documentation on time) and after one week of me sending txt messages and his consistently promising he would refund (as he did with the documents) he stopped answering my calls, as a result I didn't get my refund yet, nether he is answering my calls. (he keep saying he is busy and he will pay me back). I'm seeking for bbb help and checking if I will need to claim the $700 in small claims court. Lessons learned here: make sure you get the necessary documents and do a good search before paying someone to do the service. In my case, I paid, didn't receive the documents on time, couldn't do the renovation and didn't get the refund.
