I won an a few auctions from this business. I requested help getting the items shipped. They ignored my emails, basically charged my credit card for the items without facilitating the arrangement of shipping (this was a a ship only auction). After noticing this recently (yes, it has been some time, but they still took my money and charged a fee), I called the business. The person who helped me wouldn't even transfer me to an auction manager. She just said, sorry, it's been too long, and hung up the phone. They somehow think it's appropriate to automatically charge a credit card and ignore follow up, then think it's good customer service to have a conversation about it. Literally hung up on me mid-sentence. I realize they might not have the items, but at least they could understand that I have proof of multiple emails without a response- and that they could return the buyer's premium as they did nothing on their end except take money from people.

I recently brought 2 rings to Golden Gavel and they suggested I put them in a estate sale, suggesting that they may do well because it is higher end. Both rings sold right away (March 26) and i was happy. I have never done this before so I didn't know what to expect. I called about 3 weeks after the sale and was told that they have 30 days, per our contract to send the money. I called again 3 days after the 30 day mark and was told that its only been 33 days. They said they would look into it. I called again and left a vm message and received no response. I spoke with someone on the 13th of May (47 days after sale) and was told that they would have someone call me back. I called the next day and they said they put the check in the mail. I received the check on May 17. i noticed that the check is dated for April 26, which would have been exactly 30 days after the sale which is what the contract states. While I'm happy that both rings sold quickly i think that the whole money transaction was shady and unprofessional. i know someone in the antiques business and he said they were probably hanging onto the money to collect the interest. They had no problem pointing out to me my need to wait for the 30 days per the contract but when I mentioned it to them on day 33 they just blew it off. I knew something was up when i received the check mid May dated April 26, exactly 30 days from sale. Not sure if I would do this again. Definitely shady.
