Their rep told me I was eligible for a senior discount and instead was charged over double the going rate in the ************ area. The actual company rep was very nice and felt bad about the sales company tatics but didn't offer any solution until I said I was reporting the lies to the PUC. I will have to wait to see if they do anything about the 395.00 electric bill I got for July. I would say stay clear of Discount Power and they should change their name to Noaccount Power.

I had a one year contract with them that expired. I decided to roll it over for another year another year and they automatically signed me up for 3 years at a huge rate.

This company is awful. Cold calls without documentation = contract. Oh, they claim they give you three days to cancel. That’s three days after the cold call. Assumes you understood everything. What can you do to protect yourself?Put blocks on your electricity or gas accounts so this cannot happen unless YOU decide you want a third party alternative energy. FYI. Look up Discount Power news in Connecticut. As part of a class action settlement, they agreed to no longer do business in Connecticut. . PS. Their rate was substantially higher than the current ***** ****** rate. This is as of January 2023.

Discount Power Inc cold-called me today from a number in ********** *** I usually don't answer unknown numbers, but I answered thinking it was a local business I was dealing with. The first rep said they were calling from West Penn Power to help me save money on my electric bill, so I decided to hear them out. They transferred me to an "expert" who said she repped Discount Power Inc. and that they would save me money at 19.9 cents per KWh! (My current rate is way, way less.) The second rep broke out the calculator to pretend it would save me money. She then was trying to send me to a third rep to finalize some paperwork. At this point, I restated that I wasn't signing on to their company and that I was just gathering info and would contact them myself if I was interested. The rep said it'll just take a few minutes. At this point, I said, "Sorry, I'm not switching right now and I'm not talking to anyone else." I hung up. Fairly pleasant reps, but they stick to a pushy sales script. I could see why someone who's a new homeowner (or someone from the Silent Generation) could fall for this b/c it's confusing how they spout the details. They use sales techniques of talking continuously so you can barely get a chance to ask questions and breaking out a calculator to make it seem like they're saving you money. Be wary.

Be careful! I had issues with the company from the get go. They bought my contract, which stopped auto pay. I almost lost service before I even knew there was an issue. Then, when my contract was up, they put me on month-to-month at .20.5 k/hr!!!!! My bill was obscene and they refused to make renewal rate retroactive. Thank goodness, because I found multiple companies with better ratings for far less money and immediately switched from this price gouging terrible company.
