Deceptive practices. They, and their subsidiaries, make cancelation of products incredibly difficult if not impossible.

I was given a mostly-free temporary subscription to some magazines through ********, as a survey reward. I should have known they were trouble when they charged me a fee of $2 per magazine, but I gave them my credit card information. None of the magazines I received added any value to my life and before long I wanted to cancel the subscriptions, but couldn’t find the company’s information again. Eventually, they started charging me to continue the subscriptions, which I never agreed to. I finally managed to visit their website and cancel, but it didn’t seem to stick. Eventually I initiated a dispute with ******. Synapse Group denies that I ever cancelled my subscriptions and is holding onto money they rightfully owe me for a bunch of worthless magazines.

We genuinely regret any inconvenience that you have experienced regarding your magazine subscriptions. The offer was first presented to you via a pop-up window, which stated you could claim a value of up to $100.00 when you complete a survey. Once you clicked on this pop-up window, you were brought to the ******* survey page. It was stated at the top of the page that “as a thank you for completing the survey regarding your shopping experience, you will receive a thank you valued at up to $100.00 – up to four of your favorite magazines…” After completing the short survey, additional information about the magazine offer was provided by the submit button, including that this offer allows customers to receive the first term of their magazine selections for a one-time nominal fee of $2.00 for each subscription. Please be assured that your subscriptions have been cancelled and we attempted to refund your *****l account, however the refunds were declined, therefore check refunds have been mailed to you on December 9, 2024, and December 16, 2024. For the inconvenience, we have also issued the remaining refund for all charges back to your account. If these refunds are unable to be processed back to your *****l account, a check refund will be mailed. Additionally, you may continue to receive one or two more issues of your magazines since they were in process at the time of cancellation. You may keep these with our compliments. Please be assured that customer satisfaction is very important to us and we take great care in providing our customers with the highest level of service.

Dirty dirty dirty. Classic bait and switch. They don't accurately inform you of any charges, then it's almost $90 for a Time magazine subscription. I was able to get the phone number from Time themselves, the auto system will haggle you until it finally agrees to cancel. When they charged my ****** account, I never received a confirmation from Synapse about my order. I even filed a claim with ****** and since I couldn't provide much info, ****** DENIED MY CLAIM. That's alright, I fixed them.

Our records show that you placed an order fo* ****, when you accepted our offer, which was presented to you through ******** The offer allowed you to select a magazine title for only $2.00 for the first term of issues, applicable taxes may apply. The offer also provided that your subscription would continue automatically and be charged to the same credit card used, unless you called our toll-free customer service number to cancel. In February, you contacted our service center via our online website and placed **** on a “do not renew” status, which allowed you to continue receiving the remaining issues in your current paid term, however, at the end of your term your subscription would not renew. During this same inquiry, you accepted a new order for **** at a low promotional rate of $2.00 for 13 issues for three months. Following the promotional term, the subscription would continue, and the same terms and conditions would follow as the original order. Upon receipt of your correspondence, we issued the remaining refunds for your subscription to ****, which includes the previous year’s charges. Also, you may continue to receive one or two more issues of your magazines since they were in process at the time of cancellation. You may keep these with our compliments. Please be assured that customer satisfaction is very important to us and we take great care in providing our customers with the highest level of service.

I ordered magazines through this company in dec of 2021. At some point Health magazine went out of business. They automatically substituted with People magazine. I had zero interest in People so I tried to cancel in March of 2022. Nothing happened. Also It, their auto form requires an order number that is supposedly listed on the confirmation email, but I kept the original confirmation email and it is not listed there. Anyway, it took me until Feb of 2023 to get them to cancel. I have no idea if I've been refunded correctly or not, because I can't find an email from them confirming the cancelation. I just spoke with customer service and they tell me it is refunded.. I'll just be happy if people stops coming to my mailbox every month. I trusted them because of the BBB logo on their home page, not sure that they are worthy.

I was totally taken aback when I read the letter from the lady who had been charged repeatedly for years, in small amounts for magazines she did not order and couldn't stop. Then what really PISSED me off was to read the response to her that she may have signed up when she answered a survey from ********!!!!! I've seen that on various sites asking for a few moments of your time to fill out the survey in response to the site you were just visiting. I even took a survey and look where it got me, EXPECT I check all transactions that come through even some of my most trusted websites. I caught mine at $2.00 twice with the same date and it was listed as auto-payment. I closed that bank account immediately, though it caused me a whole lot of inconvenience, because if they'll do it once they'll do it again, again, and again, until you are losing not just your wits end but your mind and money. I believe this whole thing was/is marketed to adults, especially seniors in hopes that we wouldn't fight back. DON'T BE THEIR VICTIMS - FIGHT BACK UNTIL YOU WIN!!!!!

Hello, thank you for your review. We appreciate the opportunity to address your concerns. When a magazine offer is presented to consumers, it includes our terms and conditions which must be agreed to in order for the order to be processed. For subscriptions that include a continuous service feature, prior to each renewal, we send a renewal notification including renewal details and the date the subscriptions need to be canceled by to avoid further charges. The renewal notice contains our toll-free phone number, email address and self-service website which can all be used to cancel subscriptions. Customers may cancel their subscription at any time. The two $2.00 charges referenced in your review were for the two magazine subscriptions that were processed, these subscriptions have now been canceled with a full refund. Please do not hesitate to contact our customer service support team at at ***** ******** should you require further assistance.

Synapse. Or mags.com. I Ordered a magazine and they sent a free copy of another. Now they are charging for automatic renewal of the free magazine. And the other magazine I no longer want either. The complaint is they do not send notification of renewal or authorization to charge my ****** account. I called the telephone number charged on June 11 2022 for $20. I have no spam mail so no email was sent I also called Time magazine the contact number for the transaction charged. They had no account for me and cannot help me get a refund. Looking into my account I see 4 other charges .. I will dispute all with ****** . Lesson here is do not sign up for magazines with time magazine group. This is not the first time I had to refute auto charges before with synapse group for time magazines.
