    We hired O'Neill and Sons to move us twice. Many items were damaged but, 2 items are missing/stolen from us. We personally have gone through/opened all our remaining items in storage and have not found the missing/stolen items. We have asked O'Neill and Sons to replace the missing/stolen items. We have tried several times to resolve this with them. They have refused, not responded and dismissed us. I have uploaded a detailed report and evidence to support our complaint.

    We were not responsible for any losses incurred by our client once she had other movers touch the items.  We inventoried and submitted claims to our insurance and they agreed that once 2 other movers were involved we were no longer liable for her loss. If she claimed a loss before the other movers were involved, we would have been responsible for the loss.  Sorry she felt she need to besmirch our name in the process.

    I am rejecting this response because:

    We reject the response made by O’Neill and Sons (hereinafter referred to as “O’Neill”).  In the first place, there has only been ONE (1) other moving company involved.  Sunshine Movers (hereinafter referred to as “Sunshine”).   As stated in our original complaint, we were NOT present the next day when O’Neill had to unload and reload their truck with our belongings from the move at 49 Shaker Road because they had under estimated the job and we were NOT present when they put our belongings in storage.  However, we were present the TWO (2) times that Sunshine moved our belongings.  One time Sunshine removed our items, they weren’t even put in a truck.  We had to reorganized the storage unit because of the haphazard way which it was loaded.  When I spoke to their insurance representative, I was personally told that they did not submit claims for lost or stolen items because they are NOT insured for lost or stolen items.   How could I have notified O’Neill of missing/stolen items until I had gone through all of our boxes?  Which would require a moving company.  I asked O’Neill if they were going to be available to move us in February.  O’Neill’s replied was to “hire another company because we weren’t going to be in the area.”

    I hired this company to complete a local (within **) move from one house to another. They were to pack me one day, move me the next, and re-assemble anything that they took apart. The move was on November 10, 2022. I paid them a total of $10,039.00. They broke: a grandfather clock, the wooden frame of a leather sofa, the glass shelves of a curio cabinet, and other miscellaneous items. They lost: a printer and its wooden stand, a box of documents, and framed professional credentials from my wall, and other miscellaneous items. The owner promised to have the clock repaired, replace the broken glass shelves, and make monetary restitution for the other items, but has not followed through on any of her promises. The proposed monetary settlement beyond repairing the clock and replacing the glass shelves for other broken and lost items was $1210. It has been six weeks since my move, and the owner, Patti O'Neill, has missed three different dates for promising to make amends, and his since stopped responding to me.

    After filling this complaint, the respondent accepted my initial request for settlement and issued me a check and delivered the two glass shelves that were promised. 

     

    Filing the complaint has proven effective for me, and this matter is now resolved.
