    I went in for an appointment for pain in my tooth. The dentist told me that the tooth needed to be removed and that I needed to book an appointment for a cleaning which I shouldn't have received because there was no medical clearance due to my history of prescribed blood thinners. I followed up on the next scheduled visit but could not get the cleaning due to the pain I had in my jaw. On a subsequent visit, I was able to get the cleaning. During the visit or before the visit I was not told that I needed a specialized procedure. I never agreed to have it done nor was I notified. I opted for a regular cleaning which is paid for by my insurance at one hundred percent. I was never told until after I received a bill that I was receiving a specialized procedure and I was never notified of any out-of-pocket cost per contract of doing business with dental insurance. I have tried to rectify this with the dental office but it was not successful.

    I am sorry you were unhappy with our established protocols and felt it was unclear what treatment was going to be billed.  We have now updated our existing protocols on your behalf.  We will gladly credit the charge you incurred as a professional credit; however the procedure code on record will not change. We will send you your invoice in the mail notating this fact.
