I have been receiving mailers from Clean Choice Energy for the past couple of years, even though I have never, and would never, choose them as an electricity supplier (based on their marketing tactics alone). The mailers themselves are predatory in that they are designed to look like an important notice from my electric supplier, and every single one of them says, "second attempt" in red lettering, which is viewable through the envelope's window. I have probably received about 10-15 "second attempts" so far. The company can spare me with the "These aren't predatory; they're just promotional mailers" explanation because they know exactly what they are doing, and the mailers were clearly designed to elicit a response from more vulnerable populations (e.g., the elderly).

      Dear *** ******,

Please accept this communication as CleanChoice Energy’s official response to Complaint ID ********, received August 25, 2021, regarding ****** **** *** of ** * *** ******, Souderton, PA *****. The complaint report states that *** **** contacted the Better Business Bureau asking for CleanChoice Energy to place his information on our do not contact lists. We have reviewed the details of the complaint and completed an investigation into the complaint.  The results of this investigation are below.

The letter CleanChoice Energy sends out offers to help customers fight climate change by sourcing electricity from wind and solar sources. We don’t agree with *** ****’s accusation that we design our letters to look like they are from another supplier specifically because we put our company on the letter in over twenty locations. We also disagree with *** ****’s accusation that our letters are designed to elicit a response from more vulnerable populations because customers that are identified as vulnerable in Pennsylvanian utility systems are restricted from enrolling our in our electric supply services.

In response to receiving this complaint, CleanChoice Energy placed *** ****’s information on our do not contact and do not solicit list. Since we plan some of our campaigns in advance, we ask *** **** to allow up to 90 days for this to take effect.

We feel that this resolution will bring this matter to a mutually satisfactory close.

      Sincerely,

      Paul S** *****
      Chief Operating Officer

      Better Business Bureau:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me. However, I completely disagree with the company’s assertion that their marketing materials are not predatory and misleading. I received multiple mailers marked “second notice,” which is a clear marketing ploy designed to elicit a specific response from the consumer. I am happy that I will no longer receive this company’s marketing materials.

      Regards,

      ****** **** **

They keep sending unsolicited mailings and I have asked to be removed from mailing list and they do not adhere.. I want my address removed immediately from their database with these scam and spam mailings. This is harassment by communication that was never initiated.
