I was in a car accident 4/2/2022 and my car was totaled by a ***** **** truck. My car was supposed to be picked up from the insurer's auto policy. My ****** ***** sat in a Residential parking space that I pay annually for for2-3 weeks before the company picked up the vehicle. Assuming the car looked abandoned, weeks later I noticed my car was not there. In that time, I never received mail that my vehicle was booted and or towed and reasoning why. The fact was that I had no idea the car was gone and proceeded to dial 311 to see where my car was. Once I found out my car was taken, I called Blue plains and asked, they confirmed it was there. I proceeded to ask why I wasn't contacted and they had no excuse. I explained just weeks prior i was in an auto accident that totaled my vehicle. They told me I had Storage fees to pay in order to get the car out, but I never even knew when they took my car and asked can the fees be adjusted because I was not informed and the car is done, hence why it sat for so long. I repeated several times the car has been totaled so i wasn't at fault that the car seemed "abandoned". They proceeded to accumulate storage fees now totalling $700. I called and even went to Blue plains to ask to speak with a Supervisor or higher up about the fees getting removed because of my Unique case and they responded with "theres nothing we can do". Because of this, I can no longer renew registration with my new vehicle and my ONLY solution was to pay the fees on top of any tickets on that vehicle. I went to the DMV and reported the same. They ran me back and forth from DMV to Blue Plains, saying Blue plains had the final say on the fees. Even after offering provided evidence about my accident with the date, photos and police report, Blue plains Impoundment lot still denied and still could not show proof of why my sitting totaled car was taken in the first place and why I was never notified about this. This is nothing more than a greed/money grab.
