The floors were dirty, dirty dishes were in the cupboard, the coffee maker was dirty, there were multiple bugs on the floor, the kitchen has ants all over the counters, the top and side of the refrigerator were filthy, there were food stains on the carpet and one of the sofas, paint stains on one of the chairs, stained bed skirt, pee-stained mattress cover, spiderwebs in multiple places, the first floor toilet had poop splatter in it, the dishwasher interior was dirty, the stairs and furniture were dusty, there were hand prints on the ceiling, stained ceilings, the kitchen sink didn’t drain, the garbage disposal didn’t work, the outside shower didn’t work, the living room light doesn’t work, there are scuffed walls and doors, stained artwork, torn furniture fabric, dinged furniture, rusty doors, stained lamps, an air vent was hastily taped together, paint is chipped, the shower was dirty, there was opened food in the cabinets, there was an open Pinot Grigio bottle under the sink with things floating in it and hair on the bottle, there was a rental agreement from February left on the counter, the dryer lint trap hadn’t been cleaned, the first floor ceiling is a mess, sparse dated furniture, odd artwork, a broken chair, car air fresheners on a door, nails on the walls, rusted furniture on the patio, first floor bathroom door needs to be repaired, there isn’t enough seating for six people to eat at the same table, and the living room blinds don’t work. Currently staying at one of their properties and wow I can’t believe. How unprofessional and borderline criminal this company is. This is one of several emails I sent and never got ANY response. Issue 1: The house has not been properly cleaned for a very long time. As the photos show there is massive amount of dirt, dust, and hairs coming out of every vent in the home. This appears to be several months of accumulation and when the air conditioning kicks on it blows this material all over the house. Issue 2: As the photos show, The bathroom showers have black mold in them. We have 3 young children including a new born so this is very concerning Issue 3: The internet has not worked our entire stay and everyday we are being told that we have to wait for for the company to send a rep that never show up. We were just told for the third time to wait for several hours instead of the management company handling this issue. On top of the fact we had to spend the first three days of our vacation waiting for your technicians, we also don’t feel comfortable taking on the liability of third party contractors working on the home on the owners behalf. When we shared this with management they told us we signed a contract that internet may not be available so they are not responsible. After reviewing the general state of the home I wouldn’t be surprised if there was never internet at all and the contract is used to protect management from having to pay for any internet service at all. Issue 4: As seen in the photo attached there are electrical outlets sticking out of the wall with sharp screws dangling out of them. Issue 5: The carpets are very dirty and covered with both dirt and stains. It appears the carpets have been even vacuumed or cleaned for a very long time.Long & Foster Vacation Rentals Response

We are very sorry the WiFi wasn’t working when you arrived at the property Friday August 18th. There have been multiple communications to schedule the vendor who was able to correct the problem Monday afternoon. We apologize for the inconvenience; however, we are unable to guarantee internet service and always subject to outside vendors for these repairs. Per your request a cleaner was sent back on Sunday to address several cleaning concerns and understand she completed everything listed. She explained that some items would usually be done at the beginning of the season during a deep clean. Again, our sincere apologies this vacation experience has not met your expectations. We hope you will give Bethany and L&F another chance and come back soon.

I cannot stress enough the horrible customer service we have received... and now no one is calling us back. We arrived on Saturday around 6pm. Within 30 seconds of walking into the house, we could tell it was not cleaned. There was hair balls, dust bunnies, food and a pet throw up or pet poop on the rugs. The toilets have hair on them. There is dead bugs on window sills and dust bunnies. The toilets have not been properly cleaned. There is poop still in one of the toilets. A shower has a dead bug on the wall. The washing machine is dirty. There are crumbs on the tables. In fact, you can tell tables were not cleaned as chairs were not pushed in and you can see cup rings on the top of the tables. There is pet hair on the couches. The fridge still had food in it. Trash cans were not emptied. Normally when you clean a table and floors, you push the chairs in. Every chair was pushed out like someone had just sat there. The list goes on and on. I called the company to have a cleaning service come back out. They did but still DID NOT clean. The floors were not vacuumed. You could still see hair balls, the pet throw up or poop, the food on the floor. I called back and received the non-emergency line since it was after hours. We decided to go to the store and get our own cleaning supplies. It was 10pm at night. What were we going to do. Five adults cleaned for over 2.5 hours. When we went to go to bed, one of the beds had sand in it- which we paid for linen service. Here we are- the next day and I've only talked to Em King's assistant. After multiple voice mail messages, she has NOT called back. We still haven't received new linens. It is NOT our fault if the linen company is closed on Sunday. Jennifer We are very sorry your check-in experience did not go as expected and your vacation rental property was not cleaned to your expectation. We are also disappointed to see your comments regarding our response to your calls.. Multiple actions have been taken to address your concerns. Your first call on Saturday evening at approximately 6:30 PM was picked up right away and a cleaner sent back out who was site within an hour. The cleaner completed a full re-clean and spent over an hour at the property, completed by 8:30PM. Sunday morning another call came into our Bethany office regarding your concerns with the re-clean and “sandy” linens on one of the beds. We offered to send the cleaner back again to address any specific concerns, but you declined. L&F then ordered fresh sheets for all the beds and had them delivered to you Sunday afternoon. We have also offered to credit you for the cleaning charge along with reimbursement for any cleaning products you may have purchased. It is never our intention for our guests to start their vacation by entering a dirty property and we make every effort to have all in order. Unfortunately, cleaners are sometimes faced with a property left in poor condition by the previous guest that may require more time than is available to put it back in clean order. Recently stayed at a Long and Foster house rental in Bethany Beach Delaware and was very unhappy. On the surface the house appeared clean but upon further investigation it was in poor shape. The comforters on the beds were all stained. We had to wash them all each before using (not a great way to start your vacation). We rented linens for the week and they were just as bed. Many towels had brown and yellow stains on them. Disgusting.There was multiple lights in the house with no working light bulb including the outdoor light, so we came back to a dark house each night. We purposely rented a house with a grill so we wouldn’t have to eat out every night with little kids. Except the grill had no gas! We searched for a back up tank and after not finding anything we called Long and Foster to mention it and they stated that it was part of the contract that we had to provide our own gas for the grill. That hopefully the people who stayed prior left it filled. This is the most ridiculous practice I have ever heard of. We have rented many homes over the years in many places and have never heard of such a a thing. We are on vacation and paid a lot of money to rent this house, we shouldn’t have to go out and not only use our vacation time to fill a gas tank but pay for it ourselves when we most likely won’t use the entire thing. Would not recommend renting from them and will definitely warn all friends and family from renting from them in the future. Look elsewhere!
