Purchased the car December 5th 2023 . 8 days after having the car check engine light came on. Dealer claimed it was a misfire and spark plugs had to be changed. Welp a couple days after check engine light came on and then antifreeze started running low weeks after . Contacted immediately again , we then scheduled an appointment with mechanic Of their choice . To find out car needed another engine ! WARRANTY DID NOT cover because they said it was a cracked engine block ! So us as the customers had to come up with another 3000$ to get it repaired ! On top of having a car 600$ car payment ! A car we just brought ! The car was dropped off at the mechanic Jan 5th and we’re just now getting the car March 6th ! So barely have driven the car at all !!!! On top of that a brand new engine was not put in ! We want all of our money back and out of the loan ! Because they refused to put us in anything else multiple times way before the engine was known to be the problem !Business Response

This is our response to Mr. ****** *******’s complaint against our company Prado Auto Sales, Inc.
Mr. ******* purchased a 2017 Ford Edge VIN# ***********C46091 on December 5th, 2023. On December 15th Mr. ******* brought in said vehicle for a check engine light. Upon inspection we replaced a spark plug and a coil for a misfire code that was retrieved when scanned. A few weeks after this repair, Mr. ******* had an issue with the vehicle and on December 27th, was informed that an appointment was set up for him at Newport Auto the week of January 8th. On January 4th @ 8:31 am, Mr ******* asked us to confirm the date of his appointment and advised us that he has “had to keep refilling the antifreeze and that it was running out fast” and also “for it to get warm inside the vehicle”. He acknowledged that the vehicle did not have the issue previously and felt that it started after the spark plug and coil were changed. At 10:13am that same morning, Mr ******* was advised that we think he should stop driving the vehicle. We advised him we did not want it to overheat even though he said he was staying on top of it. We then reached out to another location that could take the car in immediately under the circumstances. He then agreed to drop the car off at Integrity Auto the next morning on January 5th but did say he was concerned with getting around the next couple of days. He asked if we could supply a loaner and we informed him that was not an option as our vehicles are not registered until sold. Mr. ******* then asked if the shop worked on weekends so he could drop it off Saturday or Sunday Jan. 6th or 7th. He then proceeded to text that he had spoken with his girl and that her cousin was coming into town via train for his birthday weekend right after work. He also stated that she also had some stuff to do for his birthday so they were going to need the car and that he would just “keep up with the antifreeze all weekend.” We then proceeded to tell him again that we feel he shouldn’t drive the car and that he was risking voiding his service contract if his vehicle were to overheat. On Monday January 8th Mr. ******* then informed us that he was on his way to drop the vehicle off at the repair shop a full 4 days after we advised him that he should not continue to drive the vehicle and that he was risking his service contract should his vehicle overheat. The vehicle was sold as is per our dealership. A 3rd party service contract was purchased by Mr. *******. We have no bearing on any decision making per his service contract. Those decisions are made only by the service contract and not by Prado Auto Sales. Again, we advised Mr. ******* that he should not continue to drive the vehicle and he chose to continue to drive through the weekend because of it being his birthday weekend and his girlfriends relative coming into town. Mr *******, feels as though this issue was present when he purchased the vehicle. We informed him that it would have been impossible as the vehicle was inspected in Delaware and passed Delaware inspection on November 14th 2023, three weeks before he purchased it. We stated to Mr. ******* that it would have been impossible for us to inspect the vehicle if it had an issue, as Delaware requires a vehicle to go through a complete drive cycle for it to pass inspection. There is no way to clear a light and get it through inspection. The monitors at DMV would pick that up and it would tell us the readiness test was incomplete and that it needed to be driven to complete the cycle. I have attached an inspection sheet showing when the vehicle was inspected and showing that it passed Delaware inspection. You will also see on the inspection sheet that no codes were present and that readiness monitors required by Delaware all say “READY”. I have also attached a post sale inspection showing an additional service we pay for when we purchase vehicles, also stating it passed on November the 8th the day we purchased said vehicle. It is an extra service we pay for to have the vehicle checked and confirmed that they are good to go and if they fail the post sale inspection we do not buy the vehicles. So this vehicle passed both a post sale inspection and Delaware DMV inspection. We also drove said vehicle for a few days for a total of 120 miles, as we drive all of our vehicles to determine if any repairs such as brakes, suspension, or other things are needed. This can be verified by checking the mileage on the post sale inspection and the mileage on the Delaware inspection. Attached is also a bill of sale, a ” We Owe” document stating we owe “NOTHING” as the vehicle had already passed inspection and a “AS-IS SOLD WITHOUT WARRANTY” document which clearly states no warranty is “expressed or implied” all signed by us and Mr. *******. The AS-IS document also states the vehicle is sold without warranty and as-is numerous times on said document that Mr. ******* signed. In lieu of all this, we still went out of our way to help them. Which is conveniently not mentioned in there complaint. We had a conversation with Mr. *******, his Father, his Mother, and his girlfriend in our office, offered to pay half of the repair and put allowed them to continue in the rental that we had already provided. They accepted, we all shook hands, and a few weeks after the repair and only after our portion of the payment was made to the repair shop did they proceed to make this complaint. Again, we out of courtesy spent over $4000 covering half of the repair and the cost of the rental for several weeks to help Mr *******.Customer Answer
