(This business is now known as the Opal Hotel.) On Wednesday, April 13 around 8:30 a.m., I visited your establishment to find out if a guest at your hotel is stealing my financial information to pay for lodging. I have strong reason to believe this is happening, yet when I asked about it I was told to leave hotel property. Please allow me to explain why I feel this is wrong. Last week, I booked a room at your hotel under my name. I was staying there with a man I was trying to help get back on his feet. The morning of Saturday, April 9, though, I cut all ties with him and stopped doing anything to help him out. I subsequently contacted the hotel to inform you I was checking out and no longer wanted it charged to my account after that morning. However, my bank account now shows charges of $100 (assuming that's a hold) and $180.24, both of which happened April 9... AFTER I said I was out. I suspect the aforementioned man used my financial information to keep paying for the room... something surveillance footage would either prove or disprove. I hereby request a review of surveillance video to find out whether he is responsible for transactions that, regardless of who's behind them, are obviously fraudulent. In case you're wondering whether I'm dealing with law enforcement on this issue... I am. I've contacted the authorities and have let them know not only of the fraud that has taken place, but my removal from hotel property when I attempted to question what was happening. To me, that immediately had all the makings of a cover-up. If you made a mistake in allowing this transaction to take place, it will be a lot easier going forward to just own it and cooperate with this investigation. Oh, and the room had bed bugs that were never addressed despite complaints. Ergo, I'm requesting a FULL refund of every penny charged to me by the hotel, totaling $804.99. If this does not happen in a timely manner, further legal action against the Opal Hotel will be taken.
