My vehicle was disabled for which it was partially restricting traffic. The ********************* police arrived on the scene and stated the car has to be move, the officer stated I can call a towing company but they must arrive within a reasonable amount of time (less then 20 mins). I informed the officer this was not possible, because I have to call OnStar and request a tow which usually take up to an hour. The officer stated he can call a towing company that work with the police and get a quote. The officer called Emerald Towing and with the phone on speaker the dispatch quoted $150 to have the car towed from the location where it stalled to my residence. I thought the price was outrageous so I asked how much would it cost to simply move the car to the side of the road and the dispatch stated the same price. I was in a bind and the car had to be moved so I agreed to the price. Once the tow truck arrived it took the driver at least 15 to 20 mins to load the car on the flatbed. Once I arrived at my residence which was less than 5 miles, the driver informed me my total was $257.50 which includes a 3% fee for using a debit card. I told him that was not the price I was quoted, and to increase the rate by more than $100 is clearly taking advantage. He told me the price is more because of the time it took him to load the car. I told him I should not be held liable due to his experience of loading a car. The tow operated stated he cannot release my car unless I pay the $257.50. This company clearly took advantage of the situation due to my vulnerability of needing my car towed. All this information can be verified by ******************** ***** I am seeking reimbursement of $107.50 and for the company to honor their original quote of $150.00
