7/16/24 $100.00 7/24/24 $1,745.00 The business promised (verbally and written on contract) that the massage therapy class was accredited, 500 hours and with a graduation date of 12/9/24 (4 months) to complete. After calling around to other closer massage schools, they said the state ******* is 600 hours and a longer program to complete. I asked the counselor multiple questions about their accreditations and I was told that I would be a LICENSED massage therapist and assured me of the requirements per the state to get there. I was told that I would get all monies back from the deposit if I dropped from the program before orientation on August 1st. On July 31st, I had a bad feeling that I shouldn't go through with it. I had a conversation with the counselor I had been talking to the whole time, he informed me that the rules had changed since giving my deposit and the hours were 600 and graduation was postponed as well (we all know that class hours = tuition expense too) I was so happy I decided to drop because nobody would have told me this if I didn't. I was going to drive 40+ miles a day and pass many other massage schools to come here due to what I was originally told. I was also told that I would get a check for the monies in the mail in 30 days, I followed up a week prior to make sure it was all good, it was confirmed. I have written documentation of all of this. I still do not have a check and now they aren't calling me back. I have all receipts too.Business Response

Due to a government regulation change, namely the 100% Rule as part of the Gainful Employment Act, Boca Beauty was forced to reduce the hours of its massage program (in fact all programs) to the same number of clock hours required by the state. This meant that *** was required to reduce the hours for Massage Therapy from 600 hours to 500 hours. While we believe the program was more robust at 600 hours given graduates will be working in health care related fields, we complied with the regulation.
A Texas court found that the requirement was not legal and therefore the 100% Rule was stayed and remains so. Boca Beauty and all schools nationally was not forced to make the change and therefore reverted back to the 600 hour massage program.
************ was caught in the middle of these regulation and program changes and as is her right, she decided to cancel her enrollment with ***. As of this morning, a representative from *** handed ************ a refund check and she communicated that she would rescind the *** complaint.

I signed up for the paramedical esthetician program with this school. From the very beginning it was nothing but problems. The program is a 6-7 month program that included 2 different classes. The 1st course was the paramedical side of the program that was 3 months. Very intense due to I would have to take a state board test that I had to come out of pockets for and failed due to having 3-4 teachers that quit within the 3 months of me being in the class. I did not get the right information to learn this class. While being in this class I had 1 of the teacher verbally insult me in front of the class multiple of times. I informed administration and nothing happened until this educator decided to leave due to having other students were being insulted by her as well and caused a lot of conflict. Ever since that issue I was sent to the skin care class that was 3 months. A better scenario much learning. I finished the course but now this school wants me to come out of pocket after completing my courses $1880 and cannot get my license Due to the hours I missed in the paramedical course that did not have a teacher within the 3 month time frame. I have email threads with the administrator working a deal with me so I can finish and receive my License. I find this unfair and truly greedy for money because in this industry of school if the school doesnt get enough students each month to start they do not reach their goal and I feel like they are trying to take advantage of my situation to with hold my license. I was taken from my learning from the very beginning due to the turn over rate. I believe I should not be withheld of my license due to their lacking of staff. I participated in the skin care portion and deserve my license as an aesthetician and go about my way in life. Do not go to this school they take advantage of people and do not care if you learn or gain any knowledge. I came to an agreement via email on how to gain access to my license and now randomly I owe ****.Business Response

****** enrolled into the Paramedical Esthetician program at Boca Beauty Academy on July 5, 2022, and graduated on June 20, 2023. Please find attached her signed enrollment agreement. On the agreement and communicated during orientation and consistently throughout all students' tenure with us is our attendance policy. Per accreditation and regulation as a clock-hour school, we must track students' attendance daily. If a student's attendance is poor, s/he is not able to graduate per regulation. ******'s attendance, especially in the electrolysis portion of the paramedical program was poor. Administration counseled her and derived an academic plan such that ****** could make up time and graduate.
It is not surprising that ****** did not pass the Electrolysis state board exam as it's a difficult exam and she did not attend class enough to best prepare for it. ******, as well as all students may audit classes when they graduate if they believe they missed important sections of the program. I encourage ****** to come back to BBA to audit some courses and prepare to take the Electrolysis state board again if she's still interested in electrolysis and laser hair removal.
I also encourage ****** to contact administration about working out a reasonable payment plan such that she may clear her account with BBA which will allow us to walk her through the skin care licensing process.
Lastly, we have a robust career services department so once ****** is eligible, we can assist in matching her to a plethora of job opportunities in her chosen field.

There wasnt a consistent teacher to teach the electrolysis class. Again the 1st 3 months of the course there wasnt a teacher. How can someone pass a class without being properly taught or trained? Their turn over rate for this class is crazy because they cannot find someone to teach the class. When they had a teacher to come my attendance was scares because I was uncomfortable for being verbally bullied and harassed by a teacher they hired. I have a video that another student recorded of the same teacher disrespecting me and then was disrespecting me on social media as well. When this matter was presented to administration I was taken out of the class and was placed into the skin class so how is it my fault that I did not complete the class? I do not see how that is my fault when the situation was not properly handled and did not help me out in the end.

Hello,
I wish to respond to the last communication received from the student/consumer. The email I received indicated I had 10 calendar days from the date received (11/15), but there is no link for me to write my 2nd response. Please provide a link and/or please point me in the right direction.
In response to the **************** latest correspondence and in attempt to resolve the matter -
In summary, while ****** had different teachers during her tenure with BBA, the academy always had a licensed and qualified teacher teaching the class. **************** attendance was spotty in the electrolysis portion as well as the skin care part of the paramedical esthetician program and in the latter, there was no conflict with the teacher.
Only the **************** licenses students. As an accredited educational institution, we present graduates transcripts to the state for them to process licensure requests. ************ has met the academic requirements for licensure and we are happy to submit to the state as soon as soon clears her balance with the school. As stated in our first response, if she contacts us, we will work to arrange a palatable plan so that ************ may be licensed. In addition, she is welcome to take advantage of career services assistance and auditing of any section of the program for which she doesn't feel confident.

Good morning,
I hope all had a great Thanksgiving!
I apologize. I inadvertently listed ****************** name as ************ in our last correspondence. That said, the information regarding ****************** account and tenure with BBA is accurate as written. This will be the last correspondence from us via this forum. It is our desire to assist ************** in attaining her license from the state such that she may gain entry into the beauty and wellness industry as is our desire for all of our students and graduates. I suggest ************** contact BBA about her account such that she/we may work out a reasonable plan to accommodate her balance to the Academy.
