We had Meltini do a major renovation of our kitchen and master bath and had issues from the start. They collected 50% on signing of the contract and another 40% upon delivery of the cabinets. Immediately it was determined that a significant percentage of the cabinetry was damaged and had to be replaced. They were in total control because they had 90% of the money. It took them almost a month to order new cabinets. An additional 8% was due upon delivery of counters. I held back on this payment because we had zero leverage and the cabinets were still not all replaced yet. The owner came to my house to discuss several issues and when he realized that I hadn't paid the 8% he started to scream at my wife and me and told his designer to remove several cabinet doors that were already installed and take them out to his truck. My wife was in tears and we paid him the money. In the beginning they re-installed a toilet for me in the powder room. This was not part of the contract but the salesman said they would do it because they had a number of workers on the job. We had a leak from the improper installation which caused $1,500 in damage to the vinyl flooring that we had just put down. The salesman lied and the owner refused to acknowledge any responsibility. At the end, they claimed that we owed them a final adjusted total of $1,396 and after going back and forth they agreed to accept $500 ONLY on the condition that we sign a non-disclosure agreement stating that we would not use social media or discuss the issues and problems that we had with anybody and if we did we had to IMMEDIATELY PAY a PENALTY of $50,000. Needless to say I paid the full amount that they claimed due. We accepted more mistakes and failures then we should have but wanted to get them out of our lives. it took them about 8 months to get to what they would like to say is completion. I could go on with other issues but space does not allow. I would highly suggest using any another contractor.
