    We hired American Home Moving to move our furniture from **************** to ************, **. The Original Estimate was $8,393.10. on 10/2022, 7 days before our move after adding a few more boxes, the price went to $11,720.96. The furniture was delivered on 11/03/22. Our tempurpedic mattress was soiled and wet, which completely ruined it because when memory foam gets wet and dries, it hardens. Several furniture pieces were damaged and 4 dining room chairs as well as an upholstered rocking chair were missing. These items have been in ********** since early November and the carrier keeps promising that we will get them. Before they received our money, I was always able to talk to someone on the phone. I was promised that American Home Moving would be helping us to get everything resolved but now I cant reach anyone. They know my number and just block me. We paid a lot of money and their way of resolving the issue is to ignore me. I feel that they, as the broker, are responsible. I should not have to beg and plead the carrier to return my furniture. I did not hire the carrier, American Home moving did. It is not my fault that they did not thoroughly vett the company they hired. Now I have to fill out insurance paperwork and that probably wont resolve the issue either. I feel scammed. They cheated me and now they wont even return my calls. What can I do? Do I have to hire a lawyer and spend more money or just accept my losses. I just want other customers to be warned and ensure that they cant keep scamming people out of their hard earned money.

    Call American home moving to move my whole furniture from ******* to *****. I paid $1500 down payment. on the day they were supposed to show up to my home. Another company showed up called Instant Movers I knew nothing about this company. They ended up taking a big screen, TV, a commercial backpack blower a very bad company that American home moving company sent to my house to move me when I knew nothing about the company. so I hold American Home moving responsible for my items that either were stolen or misplaced. If they was not going to trade out with me like they indicated and was going to give me to someone else they shouldve let me know that so I would have a chance to check that company out before I give them all my furniture which American home moving company didnt give me a opportunity to do that.

    I'm a disabled veteran, I needed to move my dead grandmother's estate cross-country 1 way. Terms were set and i paid credit card for the security depoiste and they told me that my payment method for pickup and delivery could be credit card, that was the basis off of my decision to do business with them as I couldn't afford the upfront cash costs. I bought a ticket to Alabalam from ************ to fly out and meet the movers. They scheduled the pickup date around when my flight would arrive. They Attempted to show up the day before I arrived and once I arrived I found out I was contracted out and the company was not willing to meet any of the terms agreed upon with American home movers," Cosmo moving " Flying **** miles and not having the ability to shop again I was forced to agree to more expensive costs with totally different conditions, they wouldn't take the credit card payment for pickup so I was charged more to pay it all on delivery. I was told cash or money order would be no problem, I bought the money order and they then changed the terms again facing me to rush out while the mover "singular " waited for "cash only " payment, It in turn cost me about 2200$ more then what I agreed to at thr beginning for pretty much less amount of service.

    Hello,

    Sorry to see there there might have been some miscommunication throughout the moving process with us. At no time do we ever take credit card at delivery. This is normal for the majority of long distance movers. In some cases we can get it approved for pickup. The only reason to cost increased was due to additional items/additional cubic feet on-site that was not listed on the contract under the inventory. This does indeed influence additional costs. We are not here to charge people unnecessarily, these additional costs do not come to us, they go to the actual carrier for additional work and space occupied on the truck.  

    We do apologize for any inconveniences that *** have occurred, this is never our intention. We try our best to provide transparency. Directly after booking customer are sent over to verification to confirm the work order. This is when we provide payment methods, ensure the file is accurate and make sure all the proper expectations are set for the customer. We go over the inventory, packing requirements if full pack is not purchased, delivery spreads, contact info, Etc. We hope the customer can understand where we are coming from as a company and wish them well.

    This move was brokered with a deposit of $681.76 made on 1/12/22 to American Home Moving via their phone agent named ***************************. The original pickup date was scheduled for the timeframe 1/24/22 - 1/25/22. The broker failed to arrange for a pickup at that time, and rescheduled for a few days later. This cycle repeated 2-3 more times, until such time my daughter's flight home to ******** was in danger of being missed. During this timeframe there were several recorded calls where the company's agent stated she was having trouble locating a local mover to do the job. After several follow up calls by myself and my daughter, the Scheduler admitted things didn't look good, and I should probably go another direction. I asked for a refund of my deposit after agreeing to cancel the contract. The person on the phone told me that they would be issuing a full refund, and asked me to not file a dispute with my CC company allowing them time to issue the refund. After waiting another week, and not receiving a follow up call - I went ahead and filed a disputed charge complaint w my CC company. My CC investigated on my behalf and was told by American Home Moving that there was no wrongdoing and my claim was denied. My CC company sent me their response and has since reversed my credit. I tried repeatedly to call AHM to reach resolution and my calls were not returned. I was finally able to reach ***** at ************. She basically said that since I had escalated this to my CC company, by policy AHM will not work with me in an attempt to resolve my complaint. How convenient for this to be their policy - unbelievable really. They were paid nearly $700 and did nothing. I hired another company.

    Hello,

    Unfortunately, we are unable to locate a file for the name listed above. Maybe the file is in the daughters name? We would ask that the person listed above please provide the BBB with a job number or correct name listed on a file/contract. Normally when  a customer disputes a charge with their bank, they are claiming fraud. In this case it seems the bank may have sided with the moving broker. In these situation we are able to work  with  a customer or find resolution being that they took action to harm us as a company. Chargebacks cost us fee's and cause damage to our merchant accounts. 

    Again, please have the customer provide accurate name. Unfortunately there isn't much that can be done in this situation though even if they do indeed have the correct company.

    My daughters name and all of the relevant information re the contract and this case was included in the attachments I provided with my complaint.  Her name is ***********************.  But Im the one who paid the money that was not returned. The order number was: T15103329.  

    How is a customer supposed to resolve a concern when calls are not returned by the merchant, and youre banned from working w them on a resolution if/when you ask your CC company to reverse the charge?  That policy is absurd.

    I reject this response - I want the money I paid in good faith to AHM for services that were NOT rendered!  You say its not fraud; what would you call it?

    Hello,

    We have policies in place as a company for a reason. We are not here to keep customers money however our contract does state the course of action we take and responsibilities for both parties involved. Contractually speaking services were indeed rendered. We feel the customer needs to review the terms and confirm that our job is to locate and dispatch a carrier to the job. It also states our cancellation policy and what is at stake when cancelling outside of the cancellation window. It is not only challenging to dispatch this trucks logistically but it costs money to do so.

    I am rejecting this response because:

    This company just continues to disregard the fact that they have my money and did not complete the terms of our agreement.  Their own agent responsible for finding a mover advised me that it was unlikely she would find anyone to do my job in the required timeframe.  When I asked her if she thought I should just cancel the contract and pursue another option - she said yes. I asked if I would get my money refunded and she said yes.  

    AHM recorded this conversation yet they continue their position of keeping my money.  

    This process is a waste of time and AHM knows they can s**** me over just like thousands of others in my situation.  They are not even offering a compromise.  IDK how these people can live w themselves - working for a company like this.  Disgusting to me.

    Moving dates 04/23/22 Drop off date 05/09/22.Payed for full service move was charged almost double two days before pick up.One guy showed up.did rap any thing tried to charge me more money left without giving me any paper work.called the company for day.They didn't no were my thing were at for weeks.when my thing showed up 06/03/22.there was not one thing that was not broken damage or total missing.They did not honor one thing in there contract.the 3rd party company they hire refuses to pay or replace anything that's was broken damage or missing and American Home home mover fired the company because of my move but refuse to pay for any for my missing damage and total broken items.told me to contact the company they hired my coverage with them was up to ****** and the company they hire wants to pay my 60 cents a lb and want to give 250 dollars and won't even pay that. The thing that were not delivered was an antique Rocking Chair value 500 and antique China cabinet value 1500 a 55inch TV box with 49 inch antique mirror with a southwestern ceramic border value 500 one painting by Mc Calustor value 500 two signed prints value 100 each.2 med totes w/ with coffee pot, mixer,crockpot.bread maker,4pic toaster, my coffee table was set on my grasses in pieces my TV stand was broken.my antique table was take a part Part and rolled removing the finish the base was dented and scratched my water bed frame was missing 4 of the boards and nothing was reassemble and all screws and bolt were total missing. When I started to notice all of the damage and missing item the truck driver when to his truck and left.again with no paper work and would not return my call.ca A H M only for them to tell me it was my problem and I have received nothing from anyone expect the run around this was a nite mare and the company I hire ******* home mover said there not responsible for any of my losses I feeling Iike was scamed and my thing were stole from me.     Hello,

    We are very sorry to see this took place on your move. The 10k standard liability is what comes with your move as this is required by the *** to provide customers. However, this coverage is @ .60 per pound as stated in the agreement. In this case additional insurance should have been purchased when moving this type of furniture. It appears that additional coverage was waived when signing the BOL. 

    Please know as the broker it is our job to locate a carrier that is up to date with all the requirements set forth by the ****************************. This was done. We never touched the items and as stated in the agreement we are not to be held responsible for damaged/broken items. Customer did understand this when they signed off on the paperwork in multiple places. This is not our way of pushing it off to the carrier, this is us protecting ourselves as a company when defamation is taking place. 

    Now, we are here to advocate on the customers behalf, if the carrier refuses to comp the customer financially, there isn't much that can be done at this point. We do recommend that people purchase additional coverage when moving high end or expensive/antique items.

    On June 16, 2022, American Home Moving agreed to complete a long-distance moving job from ****************************************************************************, and provide a climate control storage unit; the agreed pick-up date was June 26, 2022. American Home Moving was to store the items and deliver them to ***********, **********, on August 14, 2022. On June 23, 2022, the original move date was renegotiated, and American Home Moving agreed to the new move date of June 27, 2022, with a three-day window scheduled to end on June 29, 2022. American Home Moving failed to provide the services agreed upon and refused to offer a full refund of the initial $790.11 (1/3 of the job cost) deposit to secure the job.On June 26, 2022, I agreed to give American Home Moving an additional day to provide the services they agreed to provide; however, they failed to deliver them again.After a lengthy conversation with a customer service representative, ********************** agreed to give a partial refund. I explained a partial refund was unacceptable due to their failure to provide the services they agreed upon; the representative asked me to name an acceptable price. American Home Moving has yet to offer a full refund for the move they did not coordinate or provide.

    Again, I'm requesting for a full refund of JOB # T1516643 due to American Home Moving's failure to deliver and  breached agreement. Previous to this compliant, I contacted American Home Moving in an attempt to reach a resolution.

    Hello,

    On 6/30 the customer was offered a 50% refund. This would have been the only available offer at that time. Since customer has wrote poor reviews and threatening our company as to harm our reputation and take legal action. Unfortunately, when this occurs, any and all offers are off of the table. If the customer would like to take legal action they have every right to. Our contract clearly states that we cannot guarantee pick or delivery dates, no movers do unless a specific day is purchased. 

    American Home has no further comments or information to provide at this time.

    Long story short. THIS COMPANY IS A SCAM COMPANY. Always look up the reviews and always believe it when people say they were scammed and they were mistreated and given false information, because it takes time and effort to write a bad review. This company scammed my family OUT OF THEIR HARD WORKING MONEY for almost 3000$. WHEN I CALLED AND TALKED TO AN AGENT CALLED "******" FIRST THING I TOLD HER IS I WAS ON A BUDGET. SHE HAD ME PAY A DEPOSIT OF 1000$ AT FIRST. When I was giving her the list of items she kept saying we DONT HAVE TO HAVE EVERYTHING RN BECAUSE THEY WILL CALL U LATER TO GET ALL OF THE INVENTORY, she never mentioned it WILL BE 3 DAYS BEFORE THE **** WHERE IT DOUBLES THE AMOUNT WE HAVE TO PAY! 2 MONTHS GO BY AND I KEEP CALLING TO GIVE OUT MY INVENTORY AND SHE SAYS TO WAIT FOR THEM TO CALL ME AS SHE CANNOT ADD ANYTHING ON HER END. I GOT A RED FLAG IMMEDIATELY AND THATS AFTER MY 2ND DEPOSIT OF 1586$ DEPOSIT. THEY REFUSED TO GIVE ** BACK THE MONEY AFTER WANTING TO CHARGE ** FOR 20k TO MOVE THE ***** FROM ******** TO *******! THEY REFUSED TO GIVE ME BACK MY MONEY BECAUSE "THEY DONT HAVE IT"!!!! A SCAMMERS COMPANY, BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE.     Hello,

    We are sorry to see this customer feels this way. At the same time, we feel this is a strong example of defamation on the customers part. The course of action as to going over the inventory once more is the same for every single move. This allow customer to add or remove items from the inventory to avoid issues on site that neither party wants to experience. 

    In this case, the customer received their QA call and attempted to add ****cf. To those who do not understand cf., this would account for the better half of a 26 ft box truck (Largest Uhaul)

    In the event someone adds this amount of volume, they have to pay for the additions at the price per cf. they originally locked in. In some cases customer cannot afford the revision, when this happens we always recommend they go back to the original amount they agreed to and signed off on contractually. We did not make any changes to the inventory the customer did. Customers are in full control of the cost of their move depending on the amount of space they choose to occupy on the truck. When a move goes up like the one in discussion, it can change the route the truck was on, require an additional truck, additional labor, fuel, insurance, Etc. This all influences the cost of the move. This should not make us a "scam Company" this would have been the case with any moving company. Please see below the breakdown of the additions the customer attempted to make.

    When your agent tells me that its okay to not add more at the moment and have the assurance call 3 DAYS before the move and ask for double the amount then I have to find a new company and hire them 3 DAYS before the big move and I already wasted a month talking to your rep telling them I am on an extreme budget and assuring me "they have it in the system". You call the customer 3 DAYS before their move and squeeze them in that period so they pay what you think its "FAIR" WHICH IS ALWAYS EITHER DOUBLE OR TRIPLE they agreed budget then yes I would call your company a SCAM. I understand that the items I have added are more but I mentioned it to your rep which she said "not an issue, just let the assurance agent know what youre adding snd they will take care of it"- Having the assurance agent telling me if I cannot move I shouldn't have hired you, screaming at me telling me if I didn't have money I shouldn't be moving. WOW! And the "REFUND" you offered was 300-400$!!! I have paid you almost 3600$. So NO will not sign that agreement for the 400$. I want my money back. I had to hire another company and had to hire workers to come do the job your company was supposed to do. I want my money back.

    Unfortunately, we would disagree with the customer. Any and all feedback pertaining to this move has been communicated in the previous response. We do understand what they thought the cost was going to be when almost tripling the size of their move. Nonetheless, the cost of the move is the cost of the move, we apologize if they do not agree with it. The refund offer that was made to them is the only refund amount that will be offered. 

    Finally, we would ask that the BBB close out this case as we have provided our side of the situation and provided the inventory adjustment breakdown as to why the cost went up to where it did.

    We are a bit confused, when reviewing this file the move appears to be on file. This means we will honor to the for an entire 12 months. On 09/06/2022 it shows in the notes we communicated with the customer and she informed us they had 6 people coming to look at the home as potential buyers and that she would keep us posted. Yes they are outside of the 72 hours from booking cancellation window, however, we are here to assist and move them when the house does sell.  Furthermore, our cancellation department left her messages in which she did not return.

    We will continue to wait for the customer instruction as to placing the move back on and we hope the home sells for what she is looking for.

    My household goods were packed and put in storage on 23 June 2022. My requested delivery date was 9 July 2022. I called about my delivery and was told they had 21 business days to deliver my goods. Its been over 30 days and I cant get ahold of anyone to tell me when my furniture will be delivered. I also did not ship as much as I estimated and was charged for the larger amount. I would like a refund for the lower amount actually shipped.

    Hello,

    Prior to every move we send out an email, "Customer rights and responsibilities". This would discuss the **** (first available delivery date) When the movers arrive they have every customer sign  a BOL which is the Bill of lading. At this time customers would list they're ****, whichever date they list is when the allotted 21 days would begin and not the day they were picked up or went into storage. We also go over this verbally during the verification call directly after booking. This mistake/misunderstanding is completely out of our control unfortunately as we are both at the mercy of the carrier.

    The delivery dates are estimated based on the First Available Delivery Date the customer lists on the Bill of lading. We as the broker have no control over the delivery timeframe. Furthermore, any overages would need to go through the carrier. Our job is to locate a licensed carrier to dispatch the load to, this is all stated in the agreement that the customer signed off on in agreement with its terms set forth. Now, if the customer would like for us to advocate on their behalf with the carrier we'd be happy to do so, please reach out to the customer service department.

    As we go over verbally and sent out and email stated "customer rights and responsibilities" the mover has 21 days from the date the customer lists as first available delivery date. This means if the customer is picked up in June them lists July 9th  as their fist available date, the move has to bring the goods back to the warehouse and wait for the **** date to arrive. They then would get the items ready to be shipped out on the next truck. We do not put customers in this position intentionally as they are in control of their **** by signing off on the Bill ** Lading. This would be what influences to delivery spread outside of unforeseen circumstances. We hope the customer can understand where we are coming from. 

    This is standard practices for all moving companies. We apologize if the customer did not understand how this works, we do our best to go over this a few times prior to the pickup.

    I contacted American Home Movers on June 2nd, 2022 for moving services. We agreed to a move on June 8th, with a deposit of over $800. They incorrectly took my information and did not contact me until the day of the move. I never received any information for the moving company that had been hired for my move and never had any confirmation that the move was scheduled. I tried to reschedule after their miscommunication but had missed my window for the move. They offered me 20% of my deposit as a "settlement" for their mistake. They do not offer a viable service and are a predatory company; if you plan on attempting to do business with them I highly recommend you familiarize yourself with the process of filing a federal complaint fmcsa.gov, I guarantee you will need to.

    Hello,

    When reviewing the file it appears that the carrier was attempting to contact the customer for pickup and was unable to reach them. We later attempted to change the dates for the customer and send out a new carrier, customer decided they would cancel the move. Appears that they misinterpreted the terms of the cancellation and thought they would get back 85% when in actuality the customer has 3 days to cancel from the time of booking and they will receive a refund of 85% as we hold 15% for processing fee's. Customer was well outside of their cancellation window as the job was dispatched and a carrier was attempting to pickup. We later offered a comp of roughly 20%  customer was not happy and the brought the matter to the BBB.

    Unfortunately, the customer is attempting to make up their own rules as to what should and should not transpire during the moving process which is regulated by the ****************************. Again, our contract states we do not guarantee pickup or delivery dates due to unforeseen circumstances. No mover does unless expedited services are purchased and this still has no guarantee. Once the customer is loaded they sign off on the **** Of Lading this is now the new contract that bares the weight of the move. American Home Moving's job was to locate a licensed carrier to dispatch to the move. This was done. The phone number that we communicated with the customer on is the same number that  the file entailed and was the same number sent to the carrier when they accepted the job.
