Horrible Experience - Working with TROPICAL MARiNE CONSTRUCTION on my dock and lift has been terrible. I have spent over $30,000 on this project and I still don't have a boat lift that works. The management of this company doesn't seem to care at all, so I am forced to retain an attorney in order to get them to complete the contract.

The contract clearly states what was included and what was not. We have completed all of the work agreed to in the contract and all inspections have been scheduled and have passed. Payments including finalpayment have not been made per agreement.

John did go out to look at your lift and attempted to collect final payment. The lift was lowered onto the bottom of the canal and ran until the cables unwound. That is an operator error, not a warranty claim. Once final payment is made, we will be happy to get you in touch with someone that can provide an estimate to replace the damaged cables.

Just to clarify things, the remaining payment is $1,000 and it is to be paid upon completion of the project. The boat lift has not worked properly from the very beginning and now it doesn't work at all. I have had a repair service out to look at the lift and they have confirmed that in order to get the boat off the lift it must be lowered to the bottom of the canal. As I said previously - Horrible experience!

To clarify, your balance due is over $1400. The work agreed to in the contract has been complete and all inspections have been scheduled and have passed. We sent a representative out to set the bunks Dec 6th, 2021. Your lift was running fine and cables were installed properly at that time. The individual that set your bunks is also the individual that Boat Lift US uses in this area for any diagnosis/warranty work. I will assure you that no representative from BLUS or Tropical Marine Construction would have told you to lower the boat lift cradles to the bottom of the canal. Links to BLUS website were provided at the time the estimate was first sent and it states in all capital letters in the maintenance and service section of their site to avoid letting the lift come in contact with the bottom as that will foul the lifting cables. Again, that is an operator error not a warranty claim.

Wrong again - This is why I have had to contact an attorney!

I can't say enough good things about this company. The entire process from start to finish went so smoothly and fast. The end product was more than I dreamed of. The office employees kept in touch with me the whole process and even came to jobsite to make sure all was on track. The workmanship of their crews are exceptional, as well as hardworking and able to answer any questions I had along the way. I would strongly recommend Tropical Marine if you are looking to build your dream dock!!!

Although no work has been done, I am extremely disappointed by the process of signing a proposal to an agreed cost only to have them raise the cost months later. I signed a proposal for $35000 on a dock and like most in this new environment who are using excuses to make more money, they upped the price by $11000. Really! I'm no mathematician but an almost 33% increase after having agreed to a price is extremely unprofessional. Call it what you want, whether it's corona virus, inflation or supply and demand, I will not be doing business with this company, and demanding my deposit. Hopefully others faced with this situation follow in suit and not fuel this artificial inflation.

I am sorry to have disappointed you. We have seen significant increases in prices on our materials, including lumber, decking, hardware, as well as fuel, labor, insurance, etc. I am unable to absorb these rising costs.

When comparing current costs to the contract price that was quoted in July to the prices that we are paying now, it is costing us to build the dock.

The increase proposed is $9,700.00. We understand that is a lot of money, but we unable to build a dock that it going to cost us that much out of pocket to build.

Again, I am terribly sorry that we have disappointed you. We will apply for the permit cancellation and refund your deposit in full.
