In September of 2023, Building Beauties with JD LLC was contracted to install tile and grout in small bathroom in our home we were in the process of renovating. On November 18th 2023, the grout was so improperly applied to the tile that it rendered the entire bathroom a disaster and unusable. We have made multiple attempts for the work to be brought up to a workable standard, and the contractor has failed to comply. He returned once on November 20th, to no improvement, and made one attempt to have a subcontractor repair his mistake, who subsequently refused to take the job and we were still left with no remedy. Any further attempts to get the work redone or to be recompensed for what we will have to pay a third-party to correct his egregiously improper grout job have been either ignored or met with hostility. What should have been a small installation job had turned into months of our family of three being forced to share one bathroom. Two members of our family suffer from auto-immune/GI Tract diseases, and the hardship has placed an undue burden on all of us. We paid the full amount that was agreed on in two installments, precisely as requested, and also reimbursed the contractor for materials purchased for the project. Despite our acting in good faith and fulfilling our part of the agreement, we were left with subpar work that has prevented us from using our bathroom and no satisfactory resolution from the contractor to date. We are requesting a refund in no less than the amount it will cost us to pay to have the bathroom improved to a working condition.

Our agreement with the business was verbal and through texts, we were never provided with a written contract or invoices.

We paid $1500 in cash per the contractor's request on the initial day of work, 10/24/2023. I wrote a check for materials reimbursement on 11/06/2023. The remaining $2000 was paid in cash on the day the contractor deemed the work completed.

On Wednesday October 18th at approximately 10:00 A.M we were contacted by Mr. * expressing his urgent need to have a bathroom remodel done. Stating that he had already removed the existing tub and tile. Had a plumber set the new tub.
I agreed to meet with him and his wife Mrs.A upon arrival we met and discussed the project and the urgency to have it done. I offered to sub it to someone else and he insisted he wanted me to do it myself. I informed him I was booked out for some time. He then suggested we could do it after normal business hours. Understanding the the need to have it done in a timely fashion due to medical conditions we decided to proceed with the project.
On Tuesday October 24th  we began the project. Mrs.A was able to work from home that day so we got a full days work in on the shower. After Mr.* installed the backer board and water proofed the shower himself.
At some point during the process Mr.* expressed that he was needing his canid installed to be able to use the bathroom in the morning. So again understanding his need we installed his toilet free of charge.
Uninstalled it when we were ready to start the bathroom floor.
On November 7th the passive aggression began insisting and dictating what I was to do that day.
He messaged me informing me what I had to complete that day.
The project also changed from just enclosure and a wall to enclosure and all walls 4 high. Which delayed the process of the project.
We completed the project on Saturday November 11th again working outside of our normal work hours.
Mrs.A was so pleased with our work that she was kind enough to give me and my wife a gift of some laser etched photos on glass.
Upon completion Mr.* was so pleased that he gave me A $250 tip.

A few days after completion Mr. * Contacted me stating that he was dissatisfied with something concerning the grout. So I went out to his residence that evening to view the issue. I did notice that their were some air pocket hole in the grout (which is a common occurrence)
However his biggest complaint was that the grout had dried different colors on the wall a horizontal line was a different shade than a vertical line. I expressed to Mr.* that when grout is made in the factory some times the die does not take to all of the sand. At which point I was met with aggression. Mr.* felt the need to raise his voice at me repeatedly. I requested he stop yelling at me and informed him I would return to attend to the air hole in the grout (easy fix.) he asked me to re gout the floor as well and I accommodated his request.
After I did that with the Intent to return to acid was the entire grout job and regrout  it to accommodate his wishes.
I had a family emergency arise In that time and couldnt be there. So I sub contract a fellow tile installer to attend to this issue.
When he got there he was met with immediate aggression by Mr.* And the customer telling him he needed to say the bathroom had to be redone. The gentleman who is in his late 50s did not feel comfortable working in that environment so he left.
I then informed Mr.* that I would attend to it when I returned from my family matter.
He then began to become agressive again. I informed him I would not allow him to talk to me in that manor and requested him to calm down. That I would address the situation when I returned. He stated he wanted his money back.
It is my opinion that this gentleman is simply trying to get a free bathroom at the coast of my companies good name.
(Not to mention that the entire time I was at the residence there was the constant smell of marijuana and Mr.* was constantly under the influence of both marijuana and alcohol.)
We have been in business for about two year and have countless satisfied customers.
Thank you for your services at the BBB

Furthermore a simple discoloration of grout would not render a bathroom

Lastly in regards to the photos provided. The first three shot the grout on the side of the tile where it meats the wall and the excess would have been covered with paint had Mr. * allowed us to paint rather then saying he would do it himself.
      Photo of rubber wax ring wasnt apart of our agreement that I set a toilet for Mr.******;
In regards to the photos on the wall that need obvious attention we offered to come and attend to and correct this issue and were refused the opportunity to correct this issue.
