I reached out to Bobcad-cam about an old license that I had which allowed me to perform a function for Nesting. I own a lifetime (perpetual license) for this version of ****************************. When I reached out to Bobcad I stated that my computer needed to be rebuilt and I would like to remove that software from that laptop. There were deactivation codes needed but Bobcad responded with "...deauthorization request has been Approved for license ID: ***** and is now deauthorized. You are now free to register the license..." I then tried activating that license on a computer with an already working license (just no nesting) and now the Nesting feature won't work on that computer. I contacted Bobcad several times, and they gave me suggestions on what to do but ultimately responded with they don't support that software. If they don't support that software, or offer technical help without an advantage plan is one thing, but that isn't the case here. Bobcad responded and assisted me from February 14th 2025 to February 28th 2025, and now I cannot use a feature that I have been using for over 10 years! They haven't responded to my email in several days. They would have been a bigger help not breaking my software through the way they deactivated the software since that is not how that version should be deactivated. There's a problem with their software and now it is affecting my business.Initial Complaint

We upgraded our software to BobCad-cam version 27 on October 20, 2014 with the promise that the software was ours forever. The computer that we had it on crashed, and they will not transfer the license to our new computer.Business Response

Hello,
We do apologize for the late response to ************************** complaint. In 2019 BobCad-Cam went under acquisition and at that time policies and procedures were changed. We are now owned by the ****** Computer Company. We did send out an email to all of our customers letting them know of the changes that BobCad-Cam underwent. We do realize this may have caused an inconvenience to your business/company however, it was beyond our control.
As always, we appreciate your business, and we look forward to serving you in the future.
Thank You

I purchased a lifetime copy of BobCad-Cam Version 27 Mill express software on 11/13/2014 then upgraded to Version 27 mill pro on 7/03/2015. On 10/05/23 I called them to get a new key code for re-installing my software due to my hard drive failing. I was told that they did not support it anymore and will not give me a new key code. You've got to purchase a new copy.Business Response

I hope you are well. I want to share with you the current situation regarding our licenses. Although your license remains valid for a lifetime, as long as you take good care of it and do not lose it,there are some significant changes you should be aware of.
Until 2020, when we were an independent company, we allowed license recovery without issues. However, since the beginning of that year, we were acquired by the ****** ******************** from ******. As part of their resource evaluation, they realized that a significant portion of our technical support was directed toward users who had not updated their software in 5 years or more.
Based on this analysis, they made the decision to eliminate the ability to recover old licenses of the product. This was done with the aim of focusing our support resources solely on the latest three versions of the product.
I understand this may cause frustration, but unfortunately, we do not have control over this decision. However, I want to assure you that we are here to support your company's growth. At the end of the day, no matter the decisions made by corporations, we are people just like you,and we are still committed to helping the growth of small shops.Initial Complaint

Purchased product package V25 years ago.. The problem is activation like everyone else here has said. I need to transfer software to another machine, sent many emails and created customer service tickets with no response.. I have read some other customer complaints about the exact same thing with the companies response being,,, Business response 02/14/2023 Unfortunately, V27 is an eight-year-old product that BobCAD CAM as a company can no longer support, not only the operating system it was develop for (Windows 7) is no longer supported by ********** but V27 will not properly work in new operating system. For this reason, we have discontinued this line a product. We did offer the user a considerable discount to help him work with our latest version of the software but he declines our solution. We didn't ask for their support for the operating system as the software works just fine even in Windows 11.. It is just another tactic to get more revenue.. All I asked for to transfer the license, not support for operating system.. It is just a bunch of "BS".. I would have never purchased this software if I had known this was going to happen.. People, buy Autocad or any other CAD program other than BOBCAD-CAM, and buy SheetCAM...!! Forget BOBCAD, its a complicated software that has only one great feature, Quick trim... $500+ dollars down the drain because they won't transfer a license .. You shouldn't need support for transferring a legitimate license .. Buyers Beware!!!Initial Complaint

I purchased a perpetual software license in 2015 of **********************/CAM Pro. Recently, my computer hard drive died and I had to reinstall windows and then reinstall Bobcad. Bobcad is refusing to activate my paid for license because they claim that I did not "deauthorize" it from the old computer. However, there was no way to do this with a dead hard drive. Now they are telling me that they will give a "great deal" on a newer version of the software and they are offering to sell it to me for more than I actually paid in 2015. They have it in their power to just activate the existing license since I can prove that I am the original purchaser with my original sales reciept, license codes, and my ID.Business Response

I am rejecting this response because:This software runs just fine on both Windows 10 and Windows 11. The solution of paying more than I originally paid for the product to upgrade to a new version that I don't need or want is not an acceptable solution. Why would I give a company more money when they don't honor the original license agreement in the first place? This makes no sense. Please provide a new registration code or a refund of the original purchase price. Right now I have an unusable product for which I paid to have a perpetual license.
Sincerely,
****** ****
