1 starset up my move for December 30th, I was given a flat rate (is what I was told) of $1,200, I paid $400 up front for my deposit with the understanding the balance of $800 would be processed on the day of the move. called a week later & moved my moving date to January 15th. I was told my request would be updated and that I would receive an update. Never received. On December 27th, I received a call from the quality assurance department confirming a moving date of December 30th. On the 30th, I received a call from movers that they were at my location and ready to move. I explained to both that the date was incorrect.On January 12th, I called that evening to check in on which date movers would arrive and I was told, no date was confirmed yet and that I would receive a call 24 hours prior to the date of the move. I called on the 13th and reached out on the 14th. I received a text 1 hour before their arrival.I had no time to prepare as I assumed because I had not received any notification the day before. the movers arrived, and upped my balance to $2,000. huge difference from the $800 I was expecting to pay. He said the difference in the cost was due to my location having stairs, packing supplies and large pieces, none of which was asked of me or communicated with Rep as my initial call/set-up. I felt backed in a corner. The driver stated he could not haul all of my pieces as he did not have a large enough truck, so I am stuck with still having to arrange to have items to be picked up from my apartment. Once the $1500 was settled, they began to break things down and haul. Keep in mind I still had items all over my dining room table, dresser tops and other surfaces. started in the master bedroom where my jewelry box was kept on my dresser top. He removed everything from the dresser top and onto the floor and stole my jewelry box that I kept my engagement ring, a gold necklace from my grandfather and a tennis bracelet my oldest son gifted me. 1 starNot a moving company. They are a moving broker, but they will never tell you that, they'll just act like it, giving you all the reassurance in the world that you're in good hands. Liars.Instead, your job will get subcontracted over and over so that no one takes any responsibility for fraud, damages, delays, or straight up hostile behavior. They wash their hands of it all once they take your money and contract your job out to the lowest bidder.My American Moving and Freight contact never answered the phone, never responded to any emails, never said a **** thing when I suspected I was being scammed. I used yall a little over a year ago and it was lie after lie. You ended up charging me double than what I was quoted and then on the day we were moving your guys showed ** in uhaul trucks and basically were throwing our stuff in the truck. It was too ***************** to use a different company or I would have. I asked more than once if it was going to a truck and trailer moving truck and you said yes. Your guys cause more than $30,000 I. Damages and I keep getting the run around. I will never use you again and will never recommend you to anyone. Horrible all around service. I was emailing back and forth with this company and when I went back to review emails they would disappear should have taken that as the first sign. One last thing when they finally showed up to deliver they threw our Dyson vacuum out of the truck and then wanted to argue with my wife about it. They canceled my move on the 29th of January due to the truck breaking down. I have been trying to get my refund of $903 since then. Been told that I will get it when I get it. Wanted the deposit right away but don't want to return it in a timely manner.American Moving and Freight LLC

They posed as movers but later turned out as brokers. The movers they employed not only stole our stuff but broke, rampaged and caused immense emotional and financial damage to our property. On filing a claim they offered only $100 for $4000 worth of damage. They should be penalized.American Moving and Freight LLC

This is posted in numerous places in the Agreement such as the ********** Services Section; Most movers within the American Moving & Freight's network & Section 4 and 5 - THE CUSTOMER HAS HIRED ********************************************* & ********************** AS A ********************** COORDINATOR/SHIPPER AGENT/BROKER AND NOT TO HANDLE OR OTHERWISE PARTICIPATE IN A MOVE AS A CARRIER & AS A PROPERLY LICENSED INTERSTATE MOVING COORDINATOR/SHIPPER AGENT/BROKER, AMERICAN MOVING & FREIGHT IS NOT A MOTOR CARRIER.
In Section 4 - it continues to say in detailTHE CUSTOMER MUST PURSUE THE CARRIER FOR ALL CLAIMS FOR PROPERTY DAMAGE AND PERSONAL INJURY OR DEATH, INCLUDING WITHOUT LIMITATION, ANY CLAIMS FOR DAMAGE TO PROPERTY, LOST OR STOLEN GOODS, DELAYED PICKUP OR DELIVERY, ACTIONS OF ESTIMATORS, DRIVERS, PACKERS OR MOVERS, OR OTHER TYPES OF CLAIMS. Claims must be filed with the carriers office directly. AMF will assist in resolving matters however the claims process and settlements are calculated by the elected level of coverage the client signs for at the time of pickup and it is reflected on your Bill of Lading. This contract supersedes the Binding Moving Estimate Agreement AMF prepares and allows the carrier to perform services. Our ********************** will be happy to put you in contact with your carrier to be able to file a claim properly. However, if you ve filed a claim and are unsatisfied with the outcome, you must pursue the carrier directly for any compensation as the moving policy outlines. The Bill of Lading has its own Terms & Conditions pertaining to claims which you will need to read carefully so you understand your rights and responsibilities.

We had the opportunity to review your file and we can see that you signed up for services on Thursday, 03/03/2022 and signed a Binding Moving Estimate for services at 2:17:42 PM (ET). That BME Agreement has Terms & Conditions that you agreed to including a Cancellation Policy.
There seems to be some confusion; you filed a complaint in December 2022 but did not complete the reservation & secured a deposit until March 2023. Your deposit of ******** was processed via ACH. Your Job Ref. Number is S4583656 for a relocation from ******, ** ***** to *********** ** ***** for a space reservation of 800 cf. (**** lbs) at the locked-in rate of $5.00 per CF (cubic foot) or volume. Your Moving Policy has an Addendum which states: **Cancellation window extended until 3/10/2022. New cancellation window supersedes the ************************************* section 8 of Binding Moving Estimate (BME). Funds will not be processed until the cancellation window is over. Your deposit payment was processed on 03/11/2022 12:03:46 pm by our ADMIN as per the Agreement.Being that your file has been forwarded to our Collections Agent means that you attempted to cancel outside of this policys agreement and charged back the deposit payment. Our Agent is abiding by the Terms & Conditions you have Electronically signed and agreed to and therefore will continue to pursue collections until the account is satisfied.

I concur with the other victims. I too was given a lower quote from the initial rep who assured me that h*** be with me every step of the way. After I signed up with them, I was unable to reach the rep. I texted, called, no response. . The ** then called me with another price almost three thousand more. Although I gave away some of my furniture and added 3-4 boxes, I did not understand why my cost went up so high. When asked why, the ** argues with me as though Im not supposed to question him. Im spending my money and I had the right to ask. I felt that I was robbed and taken advantage of . I even asked for the name and number of the owners or the corp. office.I was asked why do I want to know. I was referred to a manager who I never was able to speak with. My storage items (i was told is ****cf) and I was asked to pay over *****. Something is wrong. I believe that They (this company) are con artist. People, if youre looking for movers please AVOID THIS COMPANY unless you enjoy being hoodwinked. Im still baffled.American Moving and Freight LLC

We apologize if you feel that way about the circumstances due to your increase however we do need to stick to the facts outlined within the Binding Moving Estimate that coincides within the Industry Protocols. After reviewing your account, it sounds as you have explained it that there was an increase of volume onsite, which ultimately surpassed your space reservation of ***** CF. If your belongings in fact exceed what we have estimated you will need, then the carrier will charge you at the locked in rate. Your locked-in rate is $3.85 per CF of volume. Unfortunately, AMF does not receive copies of your paperwork immediately. If you would like a ******** Service Agent to review your Bill of Lading with you so you may see and understand what each line item is and means on your contract, we will be more than happy to help you. Please send in a copy of the Bill of Lading and contact the ******** Service Team at the toll-free number. Please remember that what was provided by AMF was an estimate. If your belongings were larger, bulkier, not stackable or fragile and could not be loaded in straight columns to the ceiling in the truck, the items would be loaded side by side therefore taking up more space than anticipated. Any Agent in the ************* will be able to assist you properly.

Thanks for your response but not satisfied. The bill of lading was not completed properly. In my prior move, each item was written down. NOT in this case. I was not aware of this until my things were in the truck. I was left with no choice but to sign the sheet. Also, ***** gave me a quote. I gave away some items plus had a yard sale. Monsters that prey upon people in need. Lying, fraudulent behavior. They are totally despicable and are running a criminally negligent business that cheats their customers at every step. I got a quote from **** who told me that "American Moving and Frieght was the top moving company in ***************** and that I should check out their reviews". I was in a bind trying to get my stuff moved across the country without help. I am a 42 year old single mom who receives no outside financial support. **** talked me into putting down a deposit and told me he would take great care of me. As I was desperate and not in a position to research, I agreed to the deposit. However, I did refuse to give him my bank account and routing number which should have been the first red flag. After I was able to read the reviews on American Moving and Freight, I became deeply concerned about moving forward with the company. This was about 24 hours after my initial conversation with ****. I emailed and called him and got no response. I finally reached someone at their 800 number who provided no insight and couldn't tell me anything about who would actually be moving my belongings. When they finally provided a name, they gave me a fake number for the moving company. I looked the real moving company up and they advised me that American Moving and Freight were using their name illegally and were somehow getting away with it despite their best efforts to protect their business. They told me to get my money ************** would not communicate with me after I asked to cancel service. I disputed the charge on my card and they produced a contract stating that I have to cancel within 24 hours of placing the deposit. No reputable company operates this way. We reviewed the details of your file and we see that you completed the Booking Reservation Process on Sunday, 10/16/2022 @ approx. 02:16:04 PM (ET). *********** lists its policies with Terms & Conditions in that Moving Policy Agreement labeled in Sections 1 to 23. In Paragraph #8 The Cancellation Policy explains in great Detail that customers are only eligible for a refund if you cancel your reservation within 24 hours of booking. That means 24 hours from the **Signature Completion (Sunday, 10/16/2022 02:16:04 PM). We also must point out that the cancel policy is listed as #1 in the **Signature Bullet Points as IMPORTANT INFORMATION a customer needs to know. We make sure that it is printed multiple times so customers are aware of the timeline to be eligible. The Bullet Points list topics such as:
Cancellation Policy
Authorization that AMF will debit the customer account
FMCSA consumer information on moving
Acknowledgement that AMF is a broker
Advising Delivery Timeline
Acknowledgement that any additional space will increase cost
We have your written request to cancel your reservation in a text message to your Agent on Wednesday 10/19. This date is outside the Cancellation Policy Window to be eligible and therefore, per policy the deposit is not refundable. However, the reservation can be used in the future. Please review your Moving Policy Section #8 or contact our Support Staff for more information.Thank you for your time in this matter.

American Moving and Freight gave me an estimate for moving a few items from Florida to Maine (Job No. *********. It was told exactly what needed to be moved including one bulky item. i received an estimate of 1966.25. Before delivery I was told I had to pay another $800.00 and $220.00 in "required gratuities". The final bill after itemized lading was 50% higher than the "estimate".. If I estimated that way, I would be out of business. I would never recommend them. Looking over your file and the interactions with our ********************** we can see that at the time of pick up at the residence in *******, your belongings used more space on the truck that what was estimated. Your Booking Coordinator estimated how much space your goods would need. It is an Estimate. Onsite, the Carriers ******* or crew members will pack and load your possessions into the truck and will ultimately advise what the total volume used. It is recorded on the Bill of Lading, which you or your Proxy have agreed to and signed. That Contract is called a Bill of Lading. The signature on the paperwork reflects that an agreement was met between both parties; services to be performed by the carrier and monetary agreement from the client. AMF can not dispute the charges that have already been agreed upon at the time of the pick up. Your items are not being held hostage. The carrier executed the pickup, your Proxy or yourself signed the Contract allowing them to perform services by packing, loading and removing the items from the residence and they require payment for services. The carrier will only require a payment based on the contract and their tariff. Please review the Bill of Lading for those Terms & Conditions. You can also contact the *************** for additional information or AMF Customer Support Staff to assist in getting the delivery scheduled.

This company is **********. They took almost 4000.00 out of our bank account. I never signed a contract. The person I Spoke with about the 4 charges said it would be fixed. They backed out 2 charges but two charges in the amount of $1837.50 processed. When I called the number that was in bank statement, it was not a valid number. I called the number of the person *** I was working with and message said he is unavailable: I am a trusting person because I am honest. I am also 75 years old. The person I was working with knew my age. Isnt there a law against elder *****? Shame on you!! How would you feel if this happened to your parent?!! We have had the opportunity to review the matter and what transpired. The Agent Guy, forwarded your file for processing and Electronic Signature to the ****************** where the finalization steps are completed. It seems that VER. Agent attempted to process each of your deposits (because you have 2 separate jobs you were attempting to reserve) and instead of communicating with you that your bank could have been implementing their alerts, informing you of this charge that was being attempted, the amount was sent through several times. That was our Staffs error. And we sincerely apologize for that situation. Once you confirm YES with your bank, then all the attempted charges were all processed at once. Again, that was an error on our part and our **************** is working to have those charges reversed. And since this transpired, you in turn canceled your reservation immediately, without completing the **Signature portion of the Agreement. We are currently working to correct this matter and you should see that credit bank to your account within the next few days. We apologize for our clerical & processing errors that happened on your account. If by next week, you do not see the credit, please contact our **************** Staff to report to us so we can address this.
