On March 22, 2021 my wife hired this company to reface the master bathroom vanity at our former residence. She gave him a $1,891.58 deposit (60% of the total). The work was due to be completed by the end of June 2021. Supposedly due to COVID issues impacting his material supply chain, he did not deliver as promised. In September 2021, we decided to sell this home and relocate. My wife called *** and advised him of this and that we needed to cancel the order and requested a refund. He refused to issue the refund stating that he had ordered the materials needed and had received most, but not all of what was needed. At some point, he also stated he was unable to work because he had contracted COVID, was recovering slowly and was in financial straits. After some back and forth on several different occasions my wife and *** agreed that he would do some work on the kitchen cabinets in our new home and we would call it even. We lost track of the matter thinking that his recovery was taking much longer than expected. Bottom line is we have not heard from him since we came to this compromise solution and now desire a full refund of the $1,891.58.

While it took me some time to track down the records from a 4 year old canceled project, It would sound close to correct, somewhat. It was during a time of covid, and there were major issues with supply chains. With respect to my Dads illness a am sad to report that he passed due to his illness. More then likely why you never got any additional response's. I have no notes in the file about any changes other then an email stating you wished to cancel your project.  I have been running the company sense. I will refer to the client info & prep form, #8: all deposits are non-refundable, and the client agreement order canceling order will result in forfeit of the full deposit. Not sure why this becomes an issue 4 years after the fact but there is not much I can do for you. Good Luck and God Bless.

I am rejecting this response because:  The reason that the order was cancelled in September 2021 is that the agreed upon completion date for the project of 30 June 2021 was not met by your business.  If at the time the contract was signed on 3/22/2021 there was any doubt as to the availability of materials needed to complete the job on schedule, that should have been factored in.  To be *****, we lost track of the matter because *** had told us at or about the time my wife and he agreed on a compromise solution that he had the virus, was recovering very slowly and was unable to work.  When we saw that your business had been "updated" in Yelp, we felt it was time to pursue the matter to resolution.  That is why after 3 - and not 4 - years, we would like a refund of the money we paid in good faith, and for which we got absolutely nothing in return.

    Sincerely,

08/01/22 - UNRESPONSIVE - Len installed a Custom Closet in our Front Bedroom and a Custom Shelving & Bench in our entryway. He has been UNRESPONSIVE to us in completing this project. I communicated with Len via email with photos and phone regarding (1) the hallway adjustable shelf back panel not being secure and moving when I tried to adjusted the shelf. (2) We are still missing additional shelving which was included in my design which I gave him a copy of and had emailed him. I had already purchased the baskets to go on the shelves. (3) He still hasn't completed the underside of the entry bench which is included in the design I originally sent him and the sketch drawing he did when we signed the contract. (4) The front bedroom closet has no "skin covering" the top shelf so items can fall through the cracks in-between the wood panels. There are two wooden blocks that are holding the panels in place which will tear clothing items placed on the shelf and look horrible. I assumed that this was a temporary fix and he would replace the wooden blocks with brackets. (5) I accidentally overpaid him $61.00 which he has acknowledged and REFUSES to return our money to us. WE have not had any design changes since we began this project. LEN chose to alter the project midstream (without informing us BEFOREHAND) because he didn't want to purchase any additional wood. FYI - the closet panels look pretty. The drawers do NOT have soft-close hinges (which you would expect in a custom closet - he doesn't like to install them and won't "guarantee" them so he doesn't offer it). The drawers do NOT have dovetail joints. The closet panels are a "tight fit" and not really "secured" into the back wall. I am really disheartened that we are being treated this way and he has "ghosted" us.

It is hard to discuss any matters in this project as it is currently under litigation. I can add that we were responding to all reasonable requests until the conversations became threating and demanding. At that point we did not feel safe in having interactions with the client.

(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
We have estimated that it will cost $953.92 for materials and labor to complete the installation of our closet. We overpaid him $61.00 (confirmed in his 8/16/22 email). Since he refuses to complete the project, we are requesting a refund of $953.92 plus $61.00 = $1,014.92 paid via cashier's check. I have attached our email correspondence (blacked out our personal information) which supports our specific requests regarding the entry closet's cubby holes and adjustable shelves. The front bedroom closet's missing skin (top shelf cover) could damage any clothing items place on top of the shelf. There are wooden chucks of wood holding it together and items could slip through the openings. The top shelf needs to have a skin / cover placed on top of it. It is also missing an adjustable shelf.
