1 starI had a horrible experience with Right Cars, which also operates as Rent A Car 4 Less and possibly ACO, too. I felt extorted, frustrated, vulnerable, and was ultimately stranded. I booked through Expedia. Finding their “office” — 9 miles from FLL — was challenging to say the least. They’re not in the Rental Car Center and won’t pick you up from there. So I made my way back to a terminal and tried to figure out how to call the shuttle, since the recording was long-winded and ultimately told me to call a DIFFERENT number for pickup once I was standing in the right place. The shuttle took me to an unmanned kiosk. I talked to someone on a video chat and it was normal car pickup at first. Driver’s license and proof of insurance was requested. Then they asked for a $1000 security deposit … and a nonrefundable “loss of use administration fee”. What is that? She had to explain it twice. Basically, if anything happens to the car and they can’t use it for a time (e.g. it’s in the shop and they can’t profit from it), then this nonrefundable $200 fee covers their loss. What?? No — that’s not my responsibility, that’s what business insurance is for! To waive the $200 nonrefundable “loss of use admin fee,” they wanted a $2500 security deposit. I was at a loss. I’d already paid for the car on Expedia. I was far from the airport, it’s not like I could walk over to a competitor’s counter. I felt stuck and under pressure, and I think they set it up to be this way. This was borderline extortion. No threats or force, but putting me in a position where I was far from home, tired after a long trip, and had a confirmed reservation with them. I see how people just pay. I almost did, but their card processor was on the fritz. It beeped for a “chip error” and after the third failure - beeping though I hadn’t even inserted the card - she told me by policy that three failures automatically cancels my reservation. Even if I wanted a car, it was too bad. I called a Lyft and left.Review fromKristie M

1 starThis place is a complete scam. They have all 800 numbers and a virtual assistant that barely speaks English. Then they want to change you a bunch of extra fees. We canceled and now are struggling to get a credit. DO NOT rent from them.Review fromRobert C

1 starI would stay away from the company at all cost! The initial document I agree to said: TAXES AND FEES DUE UPON ARRIVAL $0.00. Then was led to a scam regarding fine print on insurance and another fiasco with tolls. I would NEVER use this company or any of its associated branches, period. This all occurred on my recent trip to visit friends that was *************** by this nightmare in Oct/Nov 2023.Review fromMarie S

1 starThis company is a rip off! I booked "Right ***** through Expedia.com for a total $52.00 for 3 days but they charged me $139.00 even though I returned the car 1 day earlier.1. I have full car insurance which covers rental car, so I opted not to get "Right ***** ********** but they charged me $35 per day for insurance that I did not select.2. "Right ***** lot is positioned in a very secluded area, behind a car repair-type location. There's not a human being in sight. Once you drive through the back lot, there's a 2 person sized, standing room only, room where you'll have to speak with a person from a laptop sized screen who is clearly in a remote location with black-colored curtain backdrop that is not identified as "Right ***** so you don't know if this is legit or not. There's a scanner for you to scan your credit *************** license front and back. This person is verbally telling you the conditions of the contract but you won't get to see what you're initialling or signing. They say they'll send it via email. (more on this below)3. You won't get a print out of the contract, it's all verbal, later to be sent to you via email. You won't know this until you're physically in this questionable 2-person room where it's too late to leave.4. I rented the car for 3 days but ended returning the car on the 2nd day. They still charged me for the 3 days. When I called to ask why they didn't remove the extra day's charge, the guy said, "It's in the contract, didn't you see it?" To which I said, I couldn't see it because you guys never gave a print out! In addition, they charged a "convenience fee" per day. Ther are multiple complaints about this same company with shady practices. BBB, please help potential customesrs by reporting this company. Thank you.Review fromPatrizia P

1 starWe travelled to ******* on Nov 13th and booked / paid for a car ******* Camry) with ***** through Expedia in September. We purchased Collision *********************** for one driver on Expedia. Total was $265 for 7 days (we pre-paid). Once we got to pick up the car at ***** in Fort Lauderdale (address: ************************************* *****), we dealt with agent, **** who sold us an OPTIONAL product (***, supplemental liability insurance) as if it were a REQUIREMENT. That cost us an additional $119 ($19.89 per day). With the Pre-paid Sunpass ($95.52 for the seven days), another annoying extra that we had not been warned about (we were told that you cannot pay for tolls as you go, but have to have a pass in *******), the total cost of the car became $494. From $265 to $500, that is a huge hike that we were not expecting. Nobody on Expedia warned us that the *** was a "requirement" or that drivers cannot pay for tolls by credit card / cash in the ****************. Since this *** is under "optional products" on the ***** contract they gave us, we can safely assume that it was actually NOT a requirement. However, this agent, **** told us flat out that he would not release the car to us unless we got that insurance through them because the "**************** requires it". We had just got off a 7am plane from *** and were exhausted, I resisted this a little, but both my husband and I were too exhausted to put up a fight and make extra phone calls. We have just returned home from our holiday, and done some investigation on the matter. We found out that this *** was not a requirement, but an "optional product" for Zezgo, and I want to ensure that everyone else hears about it. I have therefore requested a refund for the product they sold us under false pretenses -- *** for $119.34. That false claim from **** at Zezgo in Fort Lauderdale that cost us the additional $119.34 needs to be out there (as is my claim for a refund request).Review fromMa L

1 starBooked a rental from the *********************** location in Ft. Lauderdale through carrentals.com whom *** never had issues with. They advertised $7/day for a compact car and I was suspicious from the start. Figured I would see what the story was when I arrived. Should have gone with my gut. As soon as I arrived, I walked into a room where a representative appeared virtually from a screen similar to FaceTime. She asked for my drivers license and my credit card and once I provided it, she began her schpiel about how it was going to cost me either $89 for the 2 day plus a $250 hold on my credit card or another option which was a higher deposit at a lower rate. I immediately said h*** no and told her that the price I was quoted was $7/day and thats what I was going to pay. She commences to tell me that the $7/day did not include the service of renting the carhuh? What service?? A car rental is a car rental. I continue to refuse to pay more than the $14 I had paid and she told me the lowest she could go was $69. I said no and asked to cancel my reservation which she did. But she refused to refund me my $14. I am working with carrentals.com right now to get my refund. They are a classic case of bait-and-switch. Im fortunate that I did not go through with the rental like others did. Absolutely atrocious business practices and this company should be put out of business.
