Onspot is a Mobile Dermatology Unit that came to my workplace. I made an appointment and when I checked in and I went to pay and I was told my employer was paying. A few months later I got a bill for $120. That is contrary to what I was told. I understand the biopsy was sent to a doctor. But all of the employees were told no charge and then received a bill. Deceptive business practice or untrained employees.

      Business Response

      Date: 09/27/2024

      Hello,
I would first like to apologize for my late response. For some reason, your letter got lost in our mailbox and I didn't not realize you were contacting OnSpot Dermatology.
My name is Don Hunt and I am the CEO of OnSpot Dermatology. This is very unfortunate that this claim came to be, but attached you will see the services and advertising we gave to this patient.
      1. We are a dermatology practice that accepts insurance including Aetna. On June 3rd, we visited the Walter Pownall Service Center and marketed our services to employees of Pinellas County Schools. You can see the attachment that states our services and the cost for our services.
"Preventative skin cancer screenings are covered through Pinellas County Schools Aetna inusrance plans. Additional procedures and diagnostic treatments beyond the full-body skin cancer screening will be subject to your specialist copay or deductible and will be billed accordingly through your insurance plan"
Each patient with their Aetna plan gets 1 preventative screening a year, HOWEVER if additional services are rendered they may be subject to a patient responsibility as laid out in their insurance.
      2. The second attachment is a form that we give EVERY patient that walks into our doors. We make every patient sign the document stating that they are responsible for any patient responsibility that the insurance company tells us to charge the patient. Daniel signed his name on this form.
      3. Daniel also signed our General Consent for care and treatment that states he is responsible for any patient responsibility after we run his insurance.
I am happy to jump on a call to discuss this case more. We could not be more clear about the cost of our services and that if additional procedures are done, the patient may be subject to a copay, coinsurance or deductible.
