On May 17, 2021 we hired this company from out of state to do an inspection and pump out of a septic tank at the house we were purchasing. They knew we were out of state and knew little about dealing with septics. We recieved a bill with no notification the job had been done, so a phone call was made and they said it had been done and all was well. We paid the bill and moved forward. When we moved in, there was no ground disturbance but not know any better, did not think anything of it. This past Friday, June 10, 2022 had major flooding appear in both bathrooms and had to call a different company for emergency services. The clean out was under a 15' bird of paradise so had not been accessed anytime in the past 2 to 3 years. The lids were sealed and had apparently not be open in several years. Last but not least, it needs to be pumped out. There is only 2 of us and would not be physically impossible of filling a tank up within a one year period.
So it would appear that we paid for services rendered that evidence clearly shows did not happen, which in return has cost us several hundreds of dollars in damages and emergency services. Extremely upset by this occurence and believe and refund is in favor for work not not completed.

      Hello,
I am sorry to hear you are experiencing septic problems. From the history I have we show the system had a pump out and inspection completed on 5/17/2021. Over one (1) year ago. In my system I have photos from the service and vehicle tracking placing the technicians on site at approximately 10:30am on 5/17/2021. When pumping septic tanks we do not access the clean out so there would have been no reason to attempt to locate it. We start by locating both lids of the septic tank and digging the area to remove the lids. Then both sides of the septic tank are pumped out and in this case the system was inspected in order to provide a report with the findings. The lids are then placed back on and resealed completely. Then the area is backfilled. We try to leave the area in the way we found it, to the best of our ability. If there is grass over the lids the technician will attempt to remove the grass carefully in order to recover the area.

That being said, there are many factors that can cause a septic system to back up post pumping. We recommend pumping your septic tank yearly to maintain your system. All the water leaving your home goes into this tank. The tank will be full again within a few days of pumping. Depending on your water usage, how many people live in the home and how much time you spend in your home the frequency between pump outs may need to be increased to keep up with the demand on the system. There are also things that effect the system like medications or the items that are flushed. There could also be a clog in the line causing the back up, the ground could have settled around the inlet or outlet pipe causing the pipe to become pitched, or the drainfield could be in failure . When opening the tank, even 1 year post pumping, the tank will be full and appear to require a pump out. And as I stated above, we recommend pumping systems yearly. So this observation would not be indicative of the system not being pumped out one (1) year ago and the lids being sealed would appear to have been sealed a while ago because it was a full year since we completed the service. As stated on the inspection report, the inspection is a visual inspection only and does not constitute a warranty or guarantee of the system on or after the date of the inspection. We would have been happy to discuss this with you, along with possible causes for the system back up had we been given the opportunity to do so. Unfortunately I cannot process a refund for a service completed over a year ago. I can send out a manager to assess the system if you would like.
