I booked a family photo session for $250 as listed on the company website harmonphotographers.com. Called the office to book and verified cost with secretary. Family photos scheduled for Thursday May 16th on Ft. ***** beach, photographer (*****************) and assistant at site to take photos from 6 pm to 6:45 pm. Verified cost with photographer and paid $250 at the time of service; have my receipt copy as verification of this payment attached. On May 19th, I contacted photographer for ETA on picture digital release. With an apology, he stated soon. On 5/20/24 photographer demanded an additional 500$ to release photos digitally without water stamp on them. Email and phone call placed to photographer in regard to this demand. Photographer began to blackmail us and say he will provide a 3 print release to us if we sign a release form for advertisement. These photos are of my children aged 1 and 3, myself and my spouse. This was my mothers day gift. The payment was submitted and proof of payment at hand. Please help me as a mother have my photos of my children we paid for. Thank you so much,***************************************************

    Business response

Good morning, as already discussed with the client, what the client paid upfront was a location fee. This covers our time and costs traveling out to the location for the photoshoot. This is a standard fee in photography and many other businesses.

Prior to the photoshoot, he agreed to $250 per hour for our time working on his family's photos. We spent 45 minutes driving to and from the location, 45 minutes taking photos, and 2 and a half hours editing over 70 images from the photoshoot. I told him that he cold pay the hourly fee for all images, or if that was more than he wanted to spend, he could choose from our standard photo package list.

Instead the client threatened legal action and issued a charge back on his credit card. Rather than fight for our properly owed location fee, we agreed to refund their money and remove the images from our website.
