We had Double D's do a pretty major repair/rebuild of a 2-story deck in Feb 2022. Total amount paid was $7544.55. They did a good job on about 90% of the work, but had a few finishing touches that they needed to do, as well as some interior work. They assured us they would complete the work in June 2022, then stopped responding to our texts despite numerous attempts to contact them.

The lag bolts that were screwd in to random places. Was definitely done by your tenant who continuously tried to sabotage or work while we're were working. Also, the electrical that was cut and burned with a lighter. The light fixture, was our mistake.  But, we will fix it all up pretty again. Out of our own pocket. Thanks

We hired Double D's Home Services to remodel 2 bathrooms in our condo on 11/28/2022. After paying $20,508.47 to this so-called contractor, we still have major items that were either completed incorrectly or not done at all. Two sets of doors have not been installed. I have asked to be reimbursed for this since the doors that were installed were done so in a shoddy manner requiring me to install new hardware and to repaint the doors after sanding them. Storage cabinet in the master bathroom was neither purchased nor installed. I purchased and installed it myself. Another poor result from Double D, for which I seek reimbursement. Contract called for vent fans with heaters to be installed in both baths. Fan installed in the master was done incorrectly. Workman couldn't figure out how to wire the fan so that heater and vent fan could be used independently. Had to hire an electrician ($250.00) to repair the wiring and missing junction boxes, etc. Asked for fan only in guest room to avoid this problem in the second bathroom. I have asked for $1000.00 refund from Double D. That now needs to be $1250.00 to include the electrician. I have no faith in Double D to perform the needed repairs/installations.

    Mr. ********

There was 1 bifold door left and a custom medicine cabinet door, with special order hinges.  We had to special order the frosted glass bifold door that was requested, because there were none in stock.  Then, you requested to just install a stock door. Which when we requested to schedule to come out. You refused to let us back.

We were in a contract with you. Once you expressed your concerns. I expressed our work is guaranteed, we would be out there and inviting another contractor would breech our contract.  You never responded and never let us come back.

You stated you did not want a heated vent fan in your bathroom so we did not install it. Your wife's master bathroom has the heated vent fan as requested.  Your bathroom has a non heated vent fan as you requested.

We walked through with you and you signed off on completed work.

Every time you try to slander us. You come up with new items that were never brought to our attention.  Your wife expressed she was very happy with everything.  Not to worry about you.

I am rejecting this response because it is filled with inaccuracies and omissions.

The bottom line is neither my wife nor I trust Double D to do anything at a quality workmanship level and within a reasonable time frame.  We feel a partial refund of $1250 is a satisfactory resolution.

I will respond to each item from Double D's response.

I mentioned the etched glass bifold door to David numerous times during the renovation project.  His response each time was to tell me you were trying to find the door.  Finally, in desperation we agreed to accept a regular bifold door.  His response was the same.  He said he couldn't find one at Lowe's or Home Depot.  I found the 24" bifold doors at both locations and told him how much they cost.  He still didn't obtain the door.  When David finally called to set up the install, we both had had enough of Double D and asked for the partial refund.  What we asked was reasonable given the lack of quality workmanship and failure to follow through on their promises.

You were under contract and said your work is guaranteed.  But, your quality is low and we don't want more substandard work from you.  We are of the opinion that if you could have done it right in the first place we wouldn't be having this conflict.

I'm surprised that you're using the "contract" as an excuse for not partially refunding our money since it certainly didn't stop you from issuing a full refund to one of my neighbors when you totally bolloxed their kitchen remodel, including ordering the wrong kitchen cabinets TWICE!!!!

You are correct that I asked for a non-heated vent in the guest bathroom.  I did so because you made electrical errors in the master bath in wiring the heated vent.  When David installed the vent he was unable to wire it so the vent and heater could be operated independently.  But, he assured me he would have a licensed electrician come out to fix the wiring "later".  He didn't, so I hired Ortiz Electric to come fix the wiring and wire it so we wouldn't have to use the heater all summer.  Ortiz found the wiring David had done was not up to code and required correcting at a price of $250.00.  David also failed to install a junction box for the new pot light in the shower stall, which Ortiz installed.

The reason I come up with new items is because you are attempting to minimize all of the shoddy workmanship by limiting it to what hasn't been done with the two doors.  The doors you did install were done poorly.  David knows they didn't close properly and he asked about it several times.  Then, he simply ignored the problem.  You didn't even replace the hinges.  You used the old paint-covered ones.  I purchased and installed new hinges myself.

My wife, Dr. **** ********, categorically and emphatically denies having told you to ignore my concerns.  That is a brazen falsehood.

    Sincerely,

    ******* ********

We are in an agreement. I can schedule you with one of my teams to install the bifold door. I have never refunded anyone, that is inaccurate. Obviously all our reviews are positive expect yours. Mrs. ******** did say she was happy with the remodel. That is what I stated.  Nothing was done wrong and all our work was inspected by the city inspector. We did not do anything but connect two wires for the electrical complaint you have. That is how your condo is wired, that's why we didn't want to install the heated fan. You yourself stated to me, you had other handymen there who you did NOT approve of their work. You mention David over and over. David is not a part of my company and has nothing to do with me.

Once again, I can rectify the door issues if you will schedule a time for me to do so. I know you have your complaints, but I am the owner of this company and I am willing to work on your feedback. David is no longer working with this company and it seems that is who your problem is with. I am sorry for how you feel about him and have no desire to hurt you throughout this. But, I can fix it. You may have hired someone else to do so already, which puts you in violation of our agreement.

Section 20. Right of Substitution states "Except as otherwise provided in this Agreement, the Contractor may, at the Contractor's absolute discretion, engage a third party sub-contractor to perform some or all of the obligations of the Contractor under this Agreement and the Client will not hire or engage any third parties to assist with the provision of the Services".

Section 22. Autonomy states "Except as otherwise provided in this Agreement, the Contractor will have full control over working time, methods, and decision making in relation to provision of the Services in accordance with the Agreement. The Contractor will work autonomously and not at the direction of the Client. However, the Contractor will be responsive to the reasonable needs and concerns of the Client".

I am rejecting this response because: it is nothing but the same old excuses and lies upon lies.

Time to try small claims court.
