On July 6, 2021, I dropped a 2003 Toyota Tacoma off with Crow's Auto Repair, LLC. I instructed to owner/mechanic that the truck needed an engine or a head gasket replaced, according to the guy I got the truck from. I asked the owner of Crow's to diagnose the truck and informed him that the truck had a chemical called blue devil put in the engine. Following months of waiting, I was informed that the truck needed a head gasket and the head to be machined. In December of 2021, I was called and told the truck was ready. I arrived to pickup the truck with a bill of $2517.07. The invoice showed: water pump, head gasket, timing chain kit, oil pump kit, fuel injector, antifreeze, oil, alternator. I paid the bill and went to drive off, made it around the corner and noticed it idling extremely high, I returned to the shop and the owner came out and looked under the hood. I noticed a large amount of oil also coming out of the engine. The truck was idling over 2000 rpms, with it running and leaking I had to leave it there. A month later I was told the truck was ready again. I picked it up and it was only idling at 11-1200 rpms and it cost an additional $326.25 for an idle air control valve. Once home I noticed the oil still leaking, even though he told me there was no leaks. The truck will start and run, but smokes badly occasionally. I did some research and discovered the PCV valve had been freshly cut to allow the block to have less pressure lessoning the oil leak, but causing it to idle higher than usual. I put a new pcv valve in and the engine began pouring oil out near the brand new oil pump. I contacted the shop and asked for his insurance carrier information, as I did not trust him to repair the truck. He has been unwilling to provide any compensation in return for his lack of repairs, not even offering to tow the vehicle to his shop or come look at the amount of oil it is losing. His work has been very poor and he has not accepted any responsibility.

      Business response

Business Response /* (1000, 5, 2022/02/14) */ From day one I told him I am a one man shop so might take a while. He told me that was fine. Also when it was dropped off was told gils in bonifay put blue devil in it. It shut off and hasnt started since. Another time he told me he bought it from a friend. After I confronted him on the two stories he told me no that the person he bought it from was family of the people that owns gils. A parts guy at a parts store said he came in and told them that it was his for years and his son wanted the truck. So that is 4 different stories there. And have about 4 or 5 text showing that I have never turned it away from getting it back up to the shop. Also have text and pics of his post on fb. About a abs sensor, transmission fluid in the radiator, a bad battery, oil filter housing leak, power steering leak, vacuum pulling down on the oil cap. Asked him so there was no oil coming out the oil cap like it does on all 2.7 he said yes. Have that in a text. So how do you have suction pulling down and oil and air blowing out the same hole. I also told him about the bad battery. The iac sensor idle air control. Was bad and found many stoppages in the system and didnt charge for getting them out that was the reason it started idling high. And cant say it happened from when it was taken apart it was in the shop from the day it was taken apart. The head shop had the heads for 1 to 2 months. Not saying that any of the parts might not have been bad. There has been alot of them lately like had one the other day the customer had bought over 2000 in parts and 3 of them was bad right out of the box. Can also see if it is still on the camera system where his friend that was with him shut the door a little hard or could have been because of the truck being on a hill and mr ******** starts screaming and acting crazy. Alot of the stuff he has said even if you replace the whole engine you would still use most of them parts. He has also went to parts houses and on social media trying to start problems. One of the guys at the parts house told me gils has a blue devil clause. If you need any names or any of the text let me know. Again never have turned the truck away. I did tell him now if what is wrong with was something we didnt do that would be a different story. He keeps saying no one had ever worked on it but have pics of when it was be taken apart of rounded bolts and broke off bolts. If you need to call to ask any questions you have my number. Consumer Response /* (3000, 7, 2022/02/16) */ (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.) Crow's automotive business card states, "get if fixed right the first time." However, I was unable to get it fixed right after two times of leaving the truck there, and nearly $3000.00 in cash, as Mr. ****** doesn't accept other forms of payment. Mr. ****** is apparently more concerned with what everyone else did to the truck or didn't do to the truck, rather than what he did/didn't do. It seems ludicrous to replace everything he replaced and leave it with a bad battery, but that is the kind of mechanic he has proven to be. The only thing I asked Mr. Kowtiz for initially was his insurance information so I could file a claim and get my truck fixed properly. Mr. ****** has not offered to tow the truck back to his shop. The truck was left in a non drivable state, even after picking it up for the second time. Mr. ****** would rather make excuses about his inability to repair/diagnose a vehicle than to provide customers with competent services. From reading his response, it appears he's more concerned with Gils son in law, who previously owned the truck, than his own shop. I am not sure what any of his response has to do with his lack of repairing the truck, I believe it proves that he is incompetent and neglects his customers completely. Mr. ****** filled out the repair order on this truck, and listed it as a 2004. Right above the year is the vin number which any competent mechanic would see it correlates to a 2003 Toyota Tacoma. My text and request to Mr. ****** have been met with excuses, much like his response, pointing the finger and blaming. Mr. ****** was hired to repair the vehicle, to which he did not complete. How many times is enough to tow one vehicle to a repair shop, that advertises, "get it fixed right the first time?" Any mechanic who keeps a vehicle as long as 6 months, and then blames other shops, and the customer, for his inability to complete the job is completely incompetent. I am concerned for customers of his facility, especially if he is not insured and has refused to provide me with the name of his carrier. Mr. ****** also only accepts cash as payments, which is rare in the automotive industry due to the cost of repairs, which concerns me that some finances aren't being reported. Mr. ****** response to this inquiry completely details his lack of care by the statements he made, what does me and my friend cutting up and such about my other trucks doors have to do with the vehicle he neglected to repair? Mr. ****** has not attempted to tow the truck, or come look at it since it is not drivable. Does Mr. ****** hold any responsibility for not repairing the truck? He doesn't sound like someone who accepts his lack of competent repairs. This is to assist others who may look into using his facility, as he will not stand behind his work, but rather blame everyone else. Business Response /* (4000, 9, 2022/02/22) */ Me talking about gils is not about what they done but cant keep a story straight. With his friend is just showing how someone acts. And again never said it couldn't be brought back. But someone talking crap and he was told about the bad battery. Guess I should have listened to a mutual friend when they said I shouldn't have ever worked on it for him. The reason that we dont so cards is because they charge 8 percent and a customer dont want that on their bill. I guess all the other business that only take cash are wrong also. Also if you came to my shop it has no trespassing signs the only reason for the business stuff is so we can claim what we do. So I dont have to draw disability. And once again was told from the start was only myself here. Small stuff gets done before the big stuff so it might be awhile. Like know have another set of head at the head shop been there 21 days. We have never turned anything away we have done if there was a problem. Everyone makes mistakes. We are human and lately been getting so many bad/cheap made parts. Once again if you need anymore info let me know. Also if you would like any names or numbers on other that had a problem can give you that info. And once again a battery where does that go on a headgasket.
