I contracted RV ************* to design and build a new kitchen. After several attempts to get them to fix and complete the job, they have not done so. I have paid them the balance except for less than $300 job if whats left off a $16,000 bill. I would like for an inspection of the job and a solution to this matter ASAP. I have even gone to the extent of asking other contractors to come in and finish the work for us but others refuse to take on the job because of the liability and the cost that it will take to bring the kitchen up to standard. I have waited to report this issue until now. But I am not getting anywhere with the company. Please help. Thank you.

      Hi

First and most thank you for reaching out about this matter, My name is ***************************** President of Rv millwork Corp.
My response is as follows: the customer was refers by  a chain of clients which my company worked in the past and had not issues and were happy with our service of building  kitchen cabinets ,
we were selected by the customer to built their kitchen cabinets after 15 other proposal were giving and the  reason we were selected was because we met the customer desire in design which
None of the other estimates were no able to be met by the customer.
We got a 50 % deposit  to begin the project, the cabinetry was custom built and custom painted. My company is not licensed to paint so we had a third party company do this job and the customer was informed about it .  The  custom color was picked after a few samples and the kitchen was delivered and installed as planned. The customer was very happy as the process of installing went smooth. The customer paid 40% of the remainder balance and held a 10 % , which was not  the agreement . The agreement  was 50 % and 50% at  the end  when the job  was finalized.
The costumer gave  us list of things to adjust to complete her  request and we went on 4 occasions to meet her desire and turn in the job 100%.. but the customer in all the occasions was never present as we requested  for us  to turn in the job , time after time we requested the customer to be on site and was not there. We concluded that the customer didn't want to pay the remainder balance and it was not  serious to meet with us  to finalize the job so we decided to take the loss in money and time and move on . We stopped reaching out and the customer did not contact us anymore , which was also a sign that the customer  did not want  to pay and finalize the Job.
A year and months later we got a Text message from the customer requesting warranty on the some paint issues with the cabinets, the customer was very offensive and talk down in all our work and was threatful to report us  to your company, So our  response to the customer  was that it   will be better for her and her desires to use the reminding balance  to take care of the issues  My company and the third party do not want to get involved with the customer since the customer did not act in good faith and met with us to finalized the job.

We Have been in business over  16 years with my first partner corp. and now this one in the past 7 years  in the south florida region with hundreds of  commercial and residential job completed
and never had  a complaint . We always try 500 % to make the customer happy and finalize in good faith even if we have to lose time and money.
So thank you again for your time and for the opportunity to respond

      Complaint: 17657050

I am rejecting this response because:

That is incorrect, sir. *** reason your men came back was to finish portions of the job that were left incomplete. ***y would come for a half hour and leave, promised to come back another day to finish. And so on. We requested to have you come in time and time and you would send your men instead that didnt know what to do. I still have an endless list of promised corrections that we are still waiting for. You said you would come and we are still waiting.

*** reason we held back 10% was for many reasons.
My husband spoke to you on the phone and he committed to paying the full amount AFTER you came to finish the job. You were going to call him back to set up a date. Thats never happened. *** job is still not complete.
Last minute, you changed our final balance from $300 to $1,300. That was not in the contract. That was never agreed to.
After our last conversation, my husband was hospitalized due to Covid and had months of recovery at home. And I was diagnosed with a tumor in my liver which I am still receiving treatment for. All household projects were put on hold. Since you never got back to us about finalizing the project, I didnt want to get into an argument with you. I reached out to a different company to come in a finish the job for you. Unfortunately, after they took a look and measured several angles, everything that I complained about was true. You told me that my floors, ceilings and walls were uneven and thats why your ********************* were off. When this company came in, he measured it all and he told me I was lied to. And if anything is off the professional should know how to make it seem like its not. I was told by more than one company that in order to fix all the errors in my kitchen they would have to gut and start over. I was told that in their years of experience they have never seen a job take so many short cuts. No one wants to take the job to fix it because they feel bad about taking our money. Everyone has apologized at how badly we got screwed in this process. After measuring edges, heights, corners, cabinets, counters, etc, none equal up to each other. *** island that was installed isnt even straight. Every new visitor that comes in notices instantly. I was told by the company owner that I was seeing things but after more than one person tells me the same, I know Im not crazy. I am simply asking for the company to either give me back my money so I can hire a new company to gut and restart or to come in and make all the adjustments and finish the job.
***re is a big hole under the sink that was supposed to be covered by a new slab of wood. ***re is temporary patch in there waiting for you to come back and fix. Like that, I have many more things that are waiting to be attended too. About the paint, I actually paid an upgraded charge of $2,000 to add shakers and custom paint. I was not told that you were not certified. You never referred me to speak to another company who was going to do the paint job for me. Before the cabinets were been installed the paint was chipping off. I brought that up to your attention and to your assistants attention serval times and you were going to get them repainted and were going to leave touch up paint with me as well. I am still waiting on that as well. So yes, as the time has progressed the kitchen looks **** years old because the paint continues to just fall off the doors on a daily basis. Its been one year. ***re is no reason this should look the way it does after one year. Unfortunately, if this is not resolved I will have to take other measures. I feel lied to, cheated and stolen from.

      Sincerely,

      ***************************

      Hello

We stand by the decision and will not go or returned any money back .

We went back four  times and took care of the  list of things you ask for , but you were never there so do not knows how long we were there for and it was not 30 minutes .Id would  send me guys first and as soon  they told me you were not there like I ask I would not go .I did spoke to your husband 4 months after and I explain to him we had been there many times but were never there to finalized the job .I did not change the balance you order extra cabinets and lights moldings and accessories so do not lie here and said I charge extra for no reason because you know you order extra after the original contract . You decide not too paid and not  meet to finalized the job that was your choice .And just so you know  the appliances were not  installed by me and was not the contract , the hole in the sink cabinet is a standard hole because plumming is going into the cabinets . the island is not attached in any  way to the floor  so with time  and used movement could  happen, the paint issues were solve the four times we were there but since you decided not be there on site. So now one year and six month you want to complain and lie to make  me look bad. If the Job  was **** of bad job and you felt so cheated why wait one year and six month and never call me we try many ways to held and finalized the project but your actions were not right.

So please used the money you did not paid us to maintain the kitchen and make  any adjustment causes by the one year and seven months of used

      Complaint: 17657050

I am rejecting this response because:

Let me address the concerns of the finances first in order to clarify the inaccuracies of your statement. You spoke to my husband about the remaining balance. The original agreement was to pay 50 percent up front before you started the job, which we paid. Then you asked for 40 percent to pay your employees when the job was half way completed. We paid the forty percent also. Along the way we were suppose to receive credits for items you asked us to purchase in the installation. You told us that certain items were going to be credited to the remaining 10 percent balance. We paid out of pocket for the sink, the trash can hardware, and the pots and pans hardware. You also quoted us for hardware for a pull out cabinet by the fridge which never happened because you said it was on backorder. Your crew broke our mailbox when you hired to install the counters. That was a large expense that was never credited or reimbursed by you. These were things we paid out of pocket that you said you would credit. When my husband spoke to you on the phone the $300 balance that we were expecting turned into $1400 which you stated was because you put in a $300 bookshelf at the end of the counter. You also stated the extra money was for the time and labor you put in because your company put in the wrong size trim and it had to be redone. Either way, my husband agreed to pay you the $1400 which we thought was extreme because it did not include any of the credits.  We also did not agree with it because we should not have to pay for the mistakes of sizing on the trim. However, we agreed to pay you if you would be willing to come and fix the errors in the kitchen. At the time you said you would be willing to, but your wife had just had a baby at the time and you needed to contact us at a later date to finish the work.

It is a little over a year later and we have contacted you three times in that year to complete the work. We have patiently waited and no effort has come from your end to finish the work that was not completed, let alone fix the errors that still have not been attended to. The work that still needs to be completed is.

A paint job that was incomplete. Your employees admitted that the cabinets needed to be redone because the paint was chipping upon installation. You claim I was not here during the installation, not only were we always present during the times someone showed up to work but we spoke to your employees and even fed them snacks, sandwiches and gave them drinks while they worked.

The hole under the sink for the plumbing you said would be repaired  and replaced after the plumber came in. You said another piece of finished wood would go over the hole to cover up the piping and look professionally done. Still waiting on that.

The mini fridge and the appliances were supposed to be boxed in and attached so they did not move out of place. Your employees left a piece of unfinished wood to box the mini fridge **. Thats ridiculous. The paint around microwave and mini fridge was all chipped before the installation was complete just from your crew placing the appliances in the "holes" that were created for them. The wood areas were also chipped and scratched in these areas. Nothing was done to repair those areas.

The cabinets on each side of the stove are uneven and not the same size. The top cabinets are all different sizes and angled differently. The island is on an angle instead of "straight". The counter position of the island is not straight. The cabinet doors are each spaced differently. Needless to say, there is more and most of it has to do with leveling, angles, and sizing, etc. I can supply the extensive list upon request.

Now it is true that because we didn't hear back from since last year we have had several companies come in to complete the work you left undone and each of them said they would need to tear out the entire kitchen and start over because not only all of it is uneven, it would cost more money and time to fix what was done than to start over from scratch. So we are kinda stuck. We can't take the minimal amount of cash that we owe you and even repaint the kitchen with that. During the job you know we pointed out how the counters and the cabinets appeared to be uneven. You stated that it was because our ceiling was not leveled, yet each of these other companies measured the floor to the ceiling in different sections and it came out being perfectly even. The last company that came in to take a look at the work that was done apologized on behalf of whoever cheated us and stole our money. That was embarrassing to hear.

At this point, I cant afford to purchase a second kitchen. What I am asking for you to do is to finish the job with integrity. Complete the job, fix the mistakes and repaint the cabinets or refund the money in order to hire a different company, gut and start over completely. I am more than happy to submit more pictures if necessary.

      Sincerely,
