We never had a chance to meet any technicians . Issues started showing up 07/13/2023 called the following day.dispatch ****** said that she would text me that afternoon or call received neither honestly did not expect to hear back, being a Friday and all. Nursed our a/c through the weekend Monday morning I reached out to them said tech would be out between 2/4 no call no show. What is really sad is this is, or was his own property and he lived here, the unit was installed by his company and yet no one had the consideration to even come out. I had problems with my AC, simply called Schmitt **** the ************* was on the device. The same day a man from the firm came over and looked everything over. Instead of doing costly repairs, which he said would not be worth it, he explained that a new unit of another brand would be better, with a 10 year guarantee on parts & repairs. I was soon convinced this was good advice, having had expensive repairs once, already. I agreed to sign a contract for a new AC. The temperature was up to 86F in the house! It was Sunday afternoon. On the following Thursday, a young woman named ******* appeared, with polite manners and obviously good training, who worked and toiled here, from 9.30AM until ca.4.30PM, completely alone, installing the new AC! When she was finished, she patiently and kindly explained the totally new and different apparatus to me. She also helped me fill out the guarantee forms online, demonstrated the new thermostat, and was all-round, very helpful. I would like to highly recommend the Schmitt firm for their quick and thorough service, and, in addition, add my expression of pleasure and satisfaction for the young woman *******, who proved herself a shining example of good training, discipline, character and patience, in completing her work here! The Schmitt establishment can be very proud to have ******* as an employee. Sincerely,**************Apollo Beach

I own a small commercial building in Brooksville. I have had multiple AC units put in by Schmitt. I thought they were doing a good job.. I had chosen them as my "GO TO" AC Company.

Recently, one of my AC units stopped working as well as it should - had them come in and take a look.

First Trip: Said that our evaporator coils needed cleaning. He gave me two options for cleaning. I asked him, what he recommended... he chose the "$200" version, which is "Clean in place". After, he said give it a day, should start cooling the unit again.

      No go.

Second Trip: Said evaporator coils likely need taken out and then full cleaning. I said, guess we don't have any choice. They pulled it out, charged me upwards of $800 for this next cleaning... and well, still doesn't work. THEN, they said, oh, we need to replace the unit. (practically brand new unit) and tried to charge me $10,000 for a new unit. I told them to pound sand...

Had another company come out - they took a picture of the coils and told me there is no way that anyone would have cleaned these coils. They texted me the picture. I also have a picture of the newly cleaned coils.

Needless to say, Schmitt is at this point fraudulently charging their customers and lying to them.

Our Service Manager contacted ***** ******* after the initial visit from tech. He was provided a work cell phone number so he could contact our Service Manager and discuss things further should he wish to proceed, but he did not. He was never quoted $10,000.00.

After this review was posted on 6/27/22, ***** ******* again contacted Schmitt for service on 7/12/22. Had he really felt Schmitt was fraudulent and lying to our customers, he would not have chosen to call our company again.

      Customer Response

      07/12/2022

The employee stood in my office after telling me that the coils could not be cleaned any further/better than what he had completed. I asked what our options were, he looked up on his little ipad what a new unit would cost - quoted to me in person, just over $10,000.

Recently, I had another air conditioning company come out and look at the same unit. He took pictures and showed me that it had in fact not been cleaned at all. He then proceeded to remove it, showed me what they looked like afterwards, much cleaner. Then he reinstalled the coils. The air conditioner was then able to cool. I spent over $900 to have Schmitt clean these cools - they didn't do it, despite charging me for it. Then I spent another $500 for another company to do it - that worked perfectly.

That is as fraudulent a service as you can imagine. Proof are the pictures that I have on my phone that the other company's tech texted me.

This company is a fraud! They overcharge their customers for work. I had a thermostat replaced a year ago and now it had to be replaced AGAIN. Now they have charged me twice for this work. They changed the thermostat and charged me a service fee and an installation fee once again. I spoke to Ray (manager) and he stated they purchased the COR thermostats and they were "no good" and ended up have to use another brand ECCO. I explained that was not my problem that they use crappy products, but the fact that they had to replace my thermostat AGAIN they should have waived their fees for me; esp. in a year. He mentioned they would OWN that problem.

I asked to speak to a Manager, I'm told they have no managers, just ****** office workers that don't call you back. I will add my 1 star (lousy) rating for this company called Schmitt, Inc., in Hudson, Florida
On Sept. 6, 2021, I walked into the garage to find part of the ceiling on the floor and water-drenched boxes and items. It appears the air conditioning unit overflowed which never should have happened.
The history here is that I called in early August, 2021 for service and was shuffled to the end of Sept. 29. I told the office that every 6 months I've had service for 6 years and she insisted there was no problem and refused to give me a date earlier.
Now I have a huge problem and conclusions are:
      1. The service done on March 1 was inadequate and conditioners were not placed in the coils to prevent algae buildup. Had the coils been treated this overflow would not have happened.
      2. There are two fail-safes for water issues and evidently both failed. Had this unit been properly serviced as contracted and paid for, an overflow would not have happened.
      3. Had the office staff assigned a time for service as requested by a long-standing customer this overflow would not have happened.
To say I was upset would be an understatement. I called the office and insisted that someone come out NOW to fix the situation. The man said "Well, if the unit is running...." at which point I cut him off. So if the unit is running what's the problem, is that what you are saying?. Forget about the ceiling and water and failed system. Furious beyond belief, they finally scheduled a service later in the day.
The serviceman cleaned out what he said was algae, ran water down the drainpipe and recommended that I put a cup of vinegar down the drainpipe. I told him no one ever recommended that and since I had service every 6 months, it wasn't necessary because the company was taking care of the unit.
He then asked me to sign the tablet for the fee of two hundred plus. I told him I intend to pay, that is not the question, but the boss or decision-maker needs to come out here and look at the damage done and the company must assume responsibility since the unit has been in their care all these years. Based on the reviews of very, very poor customer service in answering calls, I thought it best to hold payment knowing that once paid, I would never see anyone regarding all this damage. He threatened me with a credit or collection problem and I said fine-it can be settled in court.
I also commented on the fact that I want a receipt and a statement or work order to show what has been done. He said I had to call the office to get it since all he had was the tablet for payment. When I requested a statement last time all I got was a list of part numbers and nothing indicating what work was performed. This seems very questionable. The only one with any proof of work done is at Schmitt, including amount paid. Why are they refusing to show accountability for work performed? One customer review has called 12 times to demand they issue a credit for billing twice for the same job. This is a pattern of ignoring and questionable procedure and a deliberate attempt to avoid a paper trail. Interesting?
Anyway, today is the 9th of Sept. and I have not heard from the company. I am compiling a list of reviews from various sources like BBB, Angi, and so on and will include them in a letter I am writing to send to various county and state agencies. This type of fraudulent business amounts to stealing a person's time, money, and good faith, and causing anxiety and frustration. It also includes exploiting the elderly along with everyone else. I believe that may be considered a felony and I qualify at 86 years old.
I shall try to keep this site updated as to what transpires but I am not hopeful for a satisfactory conclusion.

This is the worst business I have ever had the displeasure of dealing with in my entire life. I have never written a review on the BBB ever before, but I have a story about this company that will shock even the people who wrote the complaints before me. We have a 4 year warranty with Schmitt Inc and we are in our final year of warranty with them. The entire time, we have not had to deal with them, thankfully, until now. Our AC unit stopped cooling 3 months ago. We called Schmitt to have them come in and figure out what was wrong. A maintenance man showed up 2 weeks later and looked around for about a half hour. He was nice and gassed up our AC unit, but charged us quite a bit for a simple checkup. He said it was not covered in the warranty but he gassed it up more than what he charged, which was nice. BUT, here's where the story goes awry. The man promised the new part would be here between 2 days to 2 weeks. That was 3 months ago. I called Schmitt every single day after the 2 weeks had passed. Finally, after driving all the way down to Hudson, I confronted the company on the issue. To add insult to injury, they wouldn't even let me inside the building after driving all that way, so I was forced to stand outside in the heat or give up. Even worse still, they claimed there were NO managers or supervisors present. What company has no supervisor on duty? It's always an excuse with Schmitt, "the managers are out sick," "the managers are eating lunch at 4pm," "the managers are working in some undisclosed area," etc. After being promised that a manager would call me back that day after driving all the way down there, I was duped AGAIN. No call. I waited a week to call back again, as I was too busy to chase them around. The customer service representative seemed nice, but absolutely not knowledgeable, and was of little help. I demanded that a manager call me within the hour to settle this issue. After being told for the 15th time that "we'll send the message up the chain," I was FINALLY called back, but not by the manager. The customer service representative called me and said they have the part, and have had it for a while, but somehow "accidentally" sent it to the wrong location. I was finally able to get ahold of the manager that day, whose real name is Ray but tried to pass off his name as "Mark" (I did not figure this out until the maintenance man told me a "Mark" does not exist with Schmitt Inc and that there is only a manager named Ray). After 3 months of incompetence, I finally badgered my way into resolving the situation. However, during the phone call, I demanded a reduction of the labor fee, or for the fee to be waived (since the warranty only covered the cost of the part), as restitution for Schmitt's incompetence and failure to reach out to me. I firmly expressed to "Mark" that we were NOT going to pay the outrageous fee in full due to the failure on their part. He still sent someone out the next day (after having to call Schmitt twice to find out when they were coming). The maintenance man fixed the AC unit, then proceeded to charge us hundreds and hundreds and hundreds of dollars. I told him "Mark" knew we would not pay in full and that we needed to call him to reach a solution that involved some form of repayment for 3 months of suffering in the scorching heat as well as the damages to my home (not to mention the accumulation of enhanced energy bills). The maintenance man then became very belligerent. He said a "Mark" did not exist and accused me of lying. We then realized that the "Mark" guy, who claimed to have "worked" for a manager named Ray, was actually Ray. This Ray is the same person that multiple clients keep complaining about in the reviews of this company. Strange lie, but at least Ray can evade responsibility, right? Anyway, after requesting that the maintenance man handle the situation with his boss (knowing full well that, if we paid for it and tried to handle it later, we would find ZERO luck and be screwed YET AGAIN). The maintenance man did not come back to us with a solution. Instead, he snuck back onto my property and STOLE the breaker on our AC unit, a part that had NOTHING TO DO WITH WHAT NEEDED TO BE FIXED. I have contacted lawyers and am considering my options. The lawyers, and other mechanic friends that I spoke to, all said this was the shadiest thing they have ever heard in regards to an air conditioning company. I called the customer service rep again and demanded to speak with the manager. "Mark" called again and cursed me out. He said that either he gets the money or I don't get my breaker back. He dismissed and trashed the original maintenance man who promised that the part would only take 2 days to 2 weeks, claiming he was out of line to say such a thing when the part has been in stock literally everywhere else. He treated me like complete garbage, which I was not nearly as affected by as I was the blatant THEFT, of which he actually admitted to. The cursing and the insults was just more insult to injury. He said for me to screw off and claimed he and his business suffers to. He called me names I will not repeat and made several threats. After yelling at me and threatening me for 2 minutes, he hung up on me, barely allowing me to explain anything nor ask for my breaker back. He did not care WHATSOEVER about my problems, or the problems he and his company have caused, and clearly has no regard for his clients. Now, I am sitting in temperatures of 80 degrees and sweating like crazy. I keep going in my car and blasting the AC, but that is using up my gas. The temperature outside is also in the upper 70s, 80s, and lower 90s. My options are profoundly limited. I can't afford to buy another breaker, I can't afford to keep using my gas, and I can't afford to buy a hotel room. There's no chance I can fall asleep like this and I have to get up for work early in the morning, knowing full well this will surely affect my ability to work efficiently. I'm out of anything remotely close to cool air, the original problem with my AC unit caused a leak in the roof that will now cost me plenty to fix, the energy bills were and still are quadruple what they were before, and I am now being held hostage by Schmitt for a crucial part of my AC (which now makes the AC hotter than ever before). There's no way to reach Schmitt Inc now that they blocked my number from their lines and I am completely stranded. An easy google search proves that SEVERAL other companies have the part I originally needed and would only take 4 days max to order it in. I suffered for 3 months in brutal heat, I am now out some thousands of dollars (not including the hostage payment I apparently owe), my ceiling is leaking, I'm barely able to make my monthly payments as it is, and now I will surely be out of sleep until further notice. This is a criminal company and they need to either be shut down or completely cleaned out from top to bottom in their staff. I have never even HEARD of stories like the one I am experiencing right now. I give this company 0 stars out of 5 and DEFINITELY recommend NEVER TO USE. I am frustrated, tired, and scared. If they are capable of stealing, who knows what else they are capable of. After writing here on the BBB, I will be contacting the Police, the State Attorneys Generals office, the Builders (as well as future Builders with Schmitt), and my Lawyers to see what can be done about this situation. Schmitt Inc in Hudson, Florida is TERRIBLE. There is absolutely nothing redeeming about this company AT ALL.

my 22 year old system had to be replaced. I had always contacted this company for minor repairs on HVAC and they were always good and responsive. Install of my new system went really smooth was completed with no issues in 1 day, technician and installer were very professional. However, I would not recommend them for electrical issues. I contracted them 3 times in 2 weeks and I never heard back, so I went with another contractor for electrical.

Very unprofessional. Rude, and slow to respond. Manager, Ray, hung up on me while I was trying to get someone to come out and finish an estimate they promised me 6 weeks earlier. Would not recommend them to anyone. Want a full apology from owner, and Rsy, the manager, FIRED!

      Schmitt, Inc. Response

      09/21/2021

We apologize for the unpleasant experience you have encountered with Schmitt. Not that it is an excuse, but the delay in responding could have been due to several office employees being out sick. However; your interaction with our Service Leader, Ray, is unacceptable. He will be dealt with accordingly. Our customers are very important to us and that is not the type of customer service experience we strive for.
